  • How to unlock All Power to Forward Shields

Couple of quick tips before the walkthrough:

    • It may seem simple, but do this on easy difficulty. This achievement is plenty difficult simply on easy difficulty and will only contribute to lack of desire to finish it if you play it on medium or hard.
    • It is best to do this achievement via co-op as you not only get double the firepower, but you get to split your view in a couple key areas.
    • The little fighters slow down when they are firing upon the Enterprise, use this to your advantage to put up the shields and wait for the perfect moment to strike.
    • Tactical mode is not infinite and requires a bit of time to recharge. This means it should only be used sparingly.

    With that aside let's begin:

    1. First wave of fighters will come directly at you from the bottom left of the other ship. During the little countdown aim your crosshairs down in that area to snag them quickly and without taking any damage. Both you and your partner should be focused on this.
    2. Wave two of fighters comes from the top left ship and before they get adjacent to the Enterprise they cut back and go in front of the ship. Your best bet at neutralizing them is when they are directly in front of you although hitting them sooner will result in less shield damage. Again both you and your partner can be lined up for these ships.
    3. Wave 3 is the first big ship. This is the 'tutorial' so to speak on the using the tactical mode (). Once that big ship is neutralized there will be another that appears. I advise having only one person be tactical leader. This avoids confusion and possible miss-clicks.
    4. Wave 4 is quite a busy wave and will definitely benefit from two sets of eyes. We have 2 enemy fighters appearing off of the left side of the battle, and they will wrap around the back side of the ship doing tremendous damage if they are not taken care of. We have another big ship coming around the right moving to the front of the Enterprise, this guy you will want to torpedo () because the tactical is not back, and we want to save it. We also have a new problem unique to this wave. Shield piercing missiles are coming at us from far beyond the main ship. If you can take care of those two fighters quickly and get a good lock on the big ship for the torpedoes than these missiles should not be a problem. Best way to go about this is to have one person take care of the fighters to the left and the other lock onto the big ship with the torpedo and then more onto the piercers. The faster you kill this wave the more time you'll have for 4.5.
    5. Wave 4.5 starts about 5-7 seconds into wave 4 and brings with it 4 more shield piercing missiles, another big ship and 2 more fighters. The big ship will come from the left moving in front of the Enterprise, the fighters will wrap right coming behind and the shield piercers will come from the same location as the ones in Wave 4. Remember to torpedo the big ship. Together you should split this wave up as you did last time. The left person should take care of the big ship and then more to the piercers that will be down the middle-right and the person taking care of the right side should focus on those two fighters.
    6. Important note about these two waves: As soon as you get your tactical fire back be sure to use it. Make sure you and your partner split the screen and take care of the enemies on your side grabbing as many as you can with the tactical fire.
    7. Wave 4.75 starts about 10-14 seconds into wave 4 and brings with it 1 more big ship and 4 more shield piercers. Everything appears from the left of the main ship and works their way down the left side of the battle map. Both partners should focus on the ship and piercers this wave with the person on the left being in command of the torpedo.

Quick break and a little summary of what we should be looking like.
We should have at least 89% shields. IF you have any less this is what you can expect: 1) Shields will go below 85% with one shot from a big ship, one shield piercer, or two shots from fighters. 2) You will need to be 100% on killing every enemy otherwise you risk getting hit and going below 85%.
Be ready to coordinate flipping shields on and off quickly to make up for the sheer number of things going on.
Only use the tactical mode once in this second half and it's when the final wave appears (we will cover that shortly).

    1. Waves 1-3 are simply suicide Gorn ships that will do significant damage to your ship if you do not raise them in time. The key is to look at your mini-map in the bottom-middle of the screen and to press () right before they hit. I would have the shields up for no longer than 1-2 seconds before the suicide ships hit as to not drain the shields. I also suggest having one person designated shield controller.
    2. Wave 4 is a bit hectic. You will have one last kamikaze ship coming in, 5-6 shield piercers, and one big ship. The key here is to hit the big ship with the torpedo, throw the shields up right before the kamikaze ship arrives, and do long range sniping of the shield piercers. Everything is coming from the right of the battle map so allow the person who normally does the right to torpedo the big ship, while the person who does the left control the shields to stop the kamikaze.
    3. The final wave is absolute madness. As soon as you defeat the last enemy from wave 4 a large ship will spawn almost directly in front of you (off to the left), 5 piercers will be in relatively close range coming from the left of the big ship and 4 fighters (2 on each side) will wreak havoc on you. This is where we employ our second tactical mode.

-As soon as you kill off the last enemy in wave 4 and you see the mini-map fill with red go tactical mode. You and your co-op partner need to essentially get every single enemy (with the slight exception to some piercer missiles) in this mode in order to keep the shields above 85%.
-Have one person be designated left, the other designated right and pick off the enemies as quickly as possible.
-If you miss any ships you will be at the mercy of the cut screen during which fighters keep firing.
-Beat the final wave and claim your achievement. It may take a few tries, but stick to your guns and keep those shields up.

Here's a video representation of beating it with some tips/tricks/and hints for getting this achievement:

  • Only one instance of ship combat? What a shame.
  • I feel this game is not going to live up to its potential
  • Well it's technically a movie game (it seems to me anyway), so are the expectations honestly that high? I am looking forward to this. Looks to be good clean fun. I can expect a not as good product- but hey I still enjoy the crap out of Aliens CM.
  • Agreed it looks good I dig Trek games, and yes I like Aliens CM
  • The game is amazing all though I recommend you replay this on easy or try your best to get it on hard.
  • This game is nowhere near amazing. It sucks for the majority and this section is awful.
  • The animators and programers felt like there were lazy here. However, the voice acting is fantastic. They put actual effort into their lines and it feels like your just watching part of a movie or something. However it is painfully obvious your playing a mediocre game when you start to do stuff...this "Space Battle" is just that. Goddamn this is battle is terrible.
  • i just finshed this space battle twice now, with exactly 85% shields both times and no cheevo :(
  • Anybody confirm that u can get this on easy?? Or do u have to beat it in a higher level??? Cause on hard the best I can do is 70%
  • You can do this on easy, solo. It takes a lot of restarting, but it is possible. I followed this guide for everything up until the last wave before the cut scene. For that massive craziness, I activated tactical, and spammed the trigger. Made the cut scene with 92% hull integrity. After the cut scene, I did shields for the suicide missile and torpedoed the big ship, then sniped the shield pierces. After those have cleared, you have about 1 second until everything else shows up on your screen. I threw mt joystick far right, and went into tactical mode. As long as you are marking targets, tactical will stay active just a bit longer. You need to target the 2 fighters on the right, the big ship, as many missile pierces as possible, and then swing left to the other two fighters. It
  • The trick seems to be knowing the patterns for the first half, then you get a check point. Then hold your shield for the 4 things that try to stick to your ships hull. Immediately after that torpedo the ship to the right and fire at the right group of blue torpedos in the distance. Take care of them then hold your ships up. At one point everything will be right in front of the ship in one group. At this point use your tactical and light EVERYTHING up. I kill everything on screen at this point aside from 1 torpedo. I ended with 89% and started the 2nd half with 93%. So I only lost 4% shields on the second half this way.
  • I think its easier to do single player, the AI is very helpful. He is my video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bf_0OxT9Lb4&feature=youtu.be The torpedoes fired by the bigger ships do the most damage so I concentrated on taking those out while using the Tactical mode to take out large groups of enemies. Also you get a check point after the cinematic scenes so if you have a good first section feel free to just reload checkpoint and keep trying the second part.
  • Copy #12's Youtube link! I played on easy using Spock and got this in just a few minutes. Thought I'd be stuck at 970G on this game...
  • I hate this achievement with every fiber of my being.
