Introduction
This game is pretty straight forward as are the achievements. I gave it a 3, though I did use 4 controllers. If you only have one controller, I would say its more like a 5. I did this in a lazy day off of work. The game gets boring fast, especially with four controllers. As far as I am concerned through testing and experience, controllers 2-4 will not get you any achievements. They will, however, help you gain passports. Keep this in mind while playing.
Step #1: Playing Monopoly Mode
This is the regular old monopoly you remember. There are two main boards you will be playing - which are the only two available at first - World Board and Classic Board. This is where you get the "classic" only achievements as well as those random dice rolling ones. You will really want at least a second controller for these. Always do auctions and bet once. The three in a row doubles for dice rolling I got four times playing each board once, maybe I was lucky, but try to roll while the controller is rumbling - it seemed to help.
On the achievement that makes you land on every spot on the world board, it is critical you keep track to save yourself frustration. When you land on a space, auction buy it. When your second controller lands on one, auction buy it with THAT controller. If you land on controller 2's spot and pay it money, trade money for it. This way you will own every spot you land on and keep track of what you've done. To end a game and lose or win quickly, just trade all property and money to whoever you want to win and roll the dice a few times. You will start unlocking boards now, and want to move on to Richest Mode.
Step #2: Richest Mode
This mode was really confusing at first. Play it a few times to get used to it if it's hard for you. Always put AI on easy, if you're not using four controllers. On this mode you will be doing mini games and getting tons of passports. The mini games are indeed easy as the guide will tell you...except that if you are winning, even on easy AI, they get extremely hard. Playing with four controllers fixes this. The Developer mode is required for a lot of the achievements for Richest Mode. The hardest one was winning from last place on last round. I did this against AI opponents I wish I would have used four controllers. With common sense, you should be able to see how to make yourself win or lose while being all four people.
The guide has a mistake about building hotels. You only need two, not four, sets of houses to get hotel access. To get hotels, acquire all the properties. Do this in the Tycoon mode. Always have other controllers take from each other and after you start getting a lot of properties, start taking all high dice. You will be able to gain houses and hotels by getting chance, community chest, or by landing on your own property. Do it for yourself to gain the related achievements, then do it for a second controller so that you land on his hotel to gain an achievement called Expensive To Stop Here Remember, you can trade in Tycoon mode, so use it like you did on Monopoly mode.
Step #3: Every map, every passport
I will explain how a passport is obtained. All it takes to get one, is to land on a property. The achievement just wants you (or any of your controllers believe it or not) to land on every spot. The AI will not count. Somehow, the controllers do. Start up a Richest game on a new board. Now complete first mini game, pick "quick turn" (this is only allowed on first round, because every spot is new). You will leap with joy when you see all the passports just lighting up everywhere. Get to mini game two and quit. Restart a new game and keep getting more until you have gotten them all. It should only take around three of these per board. The reason you only do it on the first round is because every other round you have to go through the time consuming part. If you roll mostly low numbers, restart and pick "resume game". That will start you at rolling again. You want high numbers. Not so bad after all right?
Conclusion
This game can be time consuming, boring, and a little frustrating. If you use four controllers it should make your journey to 1000 a little bit less painful. Remember, your controllers only gain you passports, no other achievements directly. You use them as easy opponents mostly. Trade as much as possible to gain what you need for achievements. You should be in control of how the games turn out very easily by doing that. All in all, really easy 1000 with four controllers. Without the four controllers, it takes much longer.
