Clean Hands Achievement in Dishonored

  • Clean Hands

    100

You completed the game without killing anyone

  • How to unlock Clean Hands

    Low Chaos

This is a rather difficult achievement. You must avoid the deaths of all civilians, enemies, hounds, and even weepers. It cannot be done by your hands. You should avoid talking and doing missions for Granny Rags, as her wishes are harm against others. Rats and fish are okay to eliminate.

    • Mission 1 Overseer Campbell - Either let him poison the Captain and then choke him out, or follow them into the basement and choke him out.
    • Mission 2 Pendeltons - Do the Slackjaw sidequests and he will offer to take care of the Pendelton twins for you if you get the code to the Art Dealer's safe.
    • Mission 5 Lady Boyle - Search the second floor for clues as to which Boyle you need to capture (it changes). Once you've done that, head downstairs and find a man with rabbit/scarecrow type mask that has random whiskers on it, he'll be wandering around the first floor and talk to you about helping him kidnap his love. After that, figure out a way to get the target into the kitchen so you can knock her out and she can be kidnapped (at least she isn't dead).
    • Mission 6 Lord Regent - Head up to the broadcast tower and talk to the broadcaster who will tell you it'd be a good idea to get the Lord Regents tapes from his safe (935) and broadcast them over the air to dismantle his government from the top down. This will also grant you the political suicide achievement.
    • Mission 7 Daud - Just pickpocket his pouch from him as you go for his key when you finally reach him in Mission 7. This will also unlock an achievement.
    • Mission 7 Slackjaw/Granny  When you see these two at the end of Mission 7, it can get kind of screwy, and the best bet is apparently to just pickpocket the key from Granny and run. Putting her to sleep apparently counts as killing for people who have noticed it.

    Do Not

    • Possess people and get unintentional suicide. This means walking them into Wall of Lights, bullets hitting them from other enemies, falling, etc
    • Rewire anything that will kill guards or other people
    • Kill any main targets. You will have to find an alternate way, described in the game
    • Kill Hounds - they are animals but enemies
    • Kill Weepers - they are technically already dead but don't do it
    • Setting a knocked out enemy somewhere high or near water. If they fall they can still die

See "Ghost" achievement for tips to also stack Ghost and Mostly Flesh and Steel.

  • What's the fun in this?
  • Some people like a stealth challenge. Perhaps there'll be options to incapacitate targets rather than kill them.
  • I think this just mean that you can kill people with your bare hands (or with a weapon) using posession or things like that will maybe do the trick.
  • I mean "can't" of course ^^
  • Its gonna be Deus ex all over again. Bring it on.
  • Presumably you can make the targets kill themselves, considering there's an achievement for causing accidental suicides. Seems like a fun challenge.
  • This achievement reminds me of The Count of Monte Cristo. Out for revenge but not killing anyone; just taking those who destroyed your life, and making their life a living hell.
  • I was kinda hoping for something like this
  • actually the developers stated even for your targets there is ways to get around killing them, the example is you can posess him and then sell him into slavery so he isn't dead he is just not in the picture anymore
  • @1 The same fun that can be had going through a Metal Gear, Deus Ex, or Thief game in the same way.
  • YES!!!!!! Challenge Accepted! :)
  • This achievement goes hand in hand with dealing with the targets non-lethally. I think trying to suicide them will void this. Every target can be dealt with while nary spilling a drop of blood. Only 41 days, 9 hours, 35 minutes and 33, 32, 31... Need a time machine.
  • Achievements for killing People an Achievements for not killing one... very ****
  • I hate stealth. I ruined Deus Ex for myself by trying to do their version of this achievement and I won't do it again. Well atleast not in my first playthrough.
  • #14 Stealth makes it fun.
  • Reminds me more a metal gear type of cheevo. Cant wait for this.
  • @14 They put in so much to this game for stealth: like blink, sneaking, using distractions/darkness. Why would you want this game and yet hate stealth? Lol
  • I enjoyed my three play throughs of Deus-Ex so I'm sure the same will apply for this game, looks promising.
  • I found this really easy on Deus Ex...
  • If the game is going to be really long, it's gonna be a challenge. Also, you may have to play it a few times over, and the risk there is that you can get bored with using the same powers over and over...
  • @10 Sorry, but Deus Ex was NOT nearly as fun on my stealth/pacifist playthrough. I guess 100% is out of the question for me, I'm going to enjoy all the killing mechanics that they spent so much time on.
  • It's only a stealth/action game, you wouldn't want them to include achievements where stealth is required. Idiots.
  • Deus ex was fun and challenging, hopefuly this will be too
  • I love stealth games, @14 you dont have to play it stealth. A quick run through on easy would get this achievement quickly I'm sure.
  • This is going to be great!
  • Stealth is the way forward, This will hopefully be challenging and the requirements will become a bit more clear regarding dispatching key targets in a non lethal way.
  • @7 I agree with you.
  • i really hate these kind of achievements hated doing it in deus ex and am going to hate it in this one. i love being stealthy but i love to kill everything.
  • Like Deus Ex. I got the "no kill" achievement. It was hard and challenging but fun.
  • This one may be a huge pain in the ass because you can kill someone you've knocked unconscious just by bumping them or setting them down a little too hard. I didn't kill a single person while protecting the Empress or when escaping from Coldridge but I still had a kill count of 1 when I reached Samuel.
  • stealth is the easiest way to play, but its the longest and most boring. That is why I personally hate these achievements and dont care for acquiring them. I just want to have fun.
  • Can anyone confirm if killing hounds, weepers, or krusts disables the achievement? I mean they're not a person so they shouldn't technically be included in "anyone."
  • @33 I'm not sure about weepers or the hounds, but I just completed the achievement and at one point I got shot at by krusts and it still unlocked for me.
  • Im not gonna bother with this cheeve until the the second playthrough, I need to get my bearings first.
  • I like the achievments this game has this one will make it interesting
  • Can you kill and then reload a save, and the achievement still count? or do you have to go through without killing a single person at all even if you reload saves"
  • If i contaminate the bottle street gangs elixir will I void the achievement?
  • Its as it states complete the game without killing anyone. Which is great because now I get pretend its Thief :)
  • I tried it but i didn't save slagjaw from granny in mission 7, i just tranquilized him and moved on thinking he was still alive but at the end it showed 1 death. i finished everything and came back after to do this mission right, incapacitating granny and freeing slagjaw but now even if all my missions show 0 kill i still don't have the achievo. You need to do it in 1 walkthrough, can't comeback at the end and fix 1 mistake, I even had a save just before the very last man to neutralize, reloaded it, refinished the game starting there and nope, still won't work so get it all right the first time or you have to redo all over again...
  • Some information that might be useful that I ended up doing was this.. I saved the game alot and when I alerted someone or accidently killed someone or just wasnt sure if I was seen or not I reloaded back the last save. I did not kill any weepers, hounds, or krusts. I was never seen by any weepers or hounds but in mission 7 at the end there are some krusts that I couldn't seem to get by without them seeing me so for anyone going for Ghost and Shadow this is useful information to know bc it still gave me the achievement.
  • (Continued) Also during mission 7 where you are at Granny Rag and Slackjaw just pickpocket the key from Granny Rag and run.. Also do not pick up Granny Rag's charm or whatever it is underneath her pillow on her bed because people are saying its glitched and will not give you the achievement if you pick it up. Also don't kill any of the Assassins at the very beginning just to be safe. And make sure if your going for Clean Hands, make sure before going on to the next mission that you completed it correctly and if you didn't go back and fix it with a prior save, I am skeptical about going back to mission select to fix something I made a mistake on bc some people are saying certain achievements are not popping that way. I for one had that trouble with Art Dealer and will have to do anoth
  • (Continued) another playthrough. Also for anyone doing Mostly Flesh and Steel while doing Clean hands I made sure I did the following. I never upgraded Blink to Blink 2, I did not upgrade any other power, I did not use any Bone charms and I did not purchase any weapon upgrades/equipment upgrades and the achievement popped.
  • #40: Same problem here ... any solutions? In the Missionoverview in the mainmenu is in every mission a 0 by People killed and an arrow by pacifist (dont remember the real name of that point)... but noch achievi at the end of that game!!! Can someone help me?
  • this achieve is BS on mission 2 i don't kill anyone, and i brand campbell and every time it says i have 1 person killed. don't bother with this achievement its a waste.
  • @40 You can't shoot either of them with a dart or it won't give you the achievement, and don't help either one of them just pickpocket the key off granny rag and run.
  • This does glitch but I am unsure as to where. even with granny rags, destroyed the coin then hit her with a sleep dart. All mission summaries had the no kill box lit up. Still no pop.
  • This one is a lot easier than it sounds, I only had to replay one level and that's because after I choked a guy he fell off the roof and died. You can still kill mice and get the achievement, but I think that's the only exception. Just make sure to save ALL OF THE TIME, because make one mistake and you will have to start the level all over again. There is a ton of saving and loading involved to get this achievement, but honestly I had a lot of fun getting it.
  • apparently you cant kill the assasins in the prologue -_______- gdi lets hope i can work some magic :/
  • this is such a bs achievement, all of my mission stats say Didnt Kill Anyone, the only one i couldve done is shooting granny in mission 7 with a sleep dart? so i guess we are all coming to the conclusion of "dont do anything between granny and slackjaw"
  • i even blocked all the guards in the prologue and spent 4 hours alone on mission 2 because i THOUGHT i was accidentally killing people, even restarted the entire mission when the unconscious bodies disappeared. so yea great I am guessing i have to do another damn play through of this game...
  • I was cheated out of this achievement. I killed no no one was never detected, reviewed all missions overviews and they were in agreement: no kills, never detected. I didn't frigg'n get it! Straight through play through. Can anybody explain this mess?
  • Just completed the game no kills and used stealth all the way through and no achievement this is glitched or something :/ I got all the boxes ticked and everything damnit.
  • it says on my mission stats no kills on them all and achievement hasnt popped but i've seen somewhere if you pick up the charm it glitches so ill try doing that
  • I complete the achievement but didnt got it i think its that i played it on easy because in the stats their stands that i killed no one in the entire game so this sucks but the game is realy awesome
  • @55 I just did it on easy and it popped for me (as well as Ghost, Shadow, & Mostly Flesh & Steel) so I don't think that's the problem.
  • You might just be killing things inbetween missions like the weepers in the sewers. It says complete the ENTIRE game without killing anyone, not beat all missions
  • On Bethesda's website, it says the following: "If Granny is Sleep Darted or Choked Out after destroying the Cameo in the Flooded District Mission, this will count as a kill and will prevent you from getting Clean Hands."
  • i just finished the game with no kills too and no achievement however i wonder if the dogs and the plants i killed might count as kills even if they don't show in the mission summaries?? have to redo all over again but not before i also find out exactly what to do with granny, maybe those who got the achievement can let us know what they did and didn't do...
  • I got the achievement yesterday and here's what I did: 1. Didn't kill the assassins in the prologue 2. Didn't kill any hounds or krusts 3. Didn't contaminate the bottle street gang's elixir 4. Any time I choked or sleep darted someone I made sure to put the body in a place where it couldn't get eaten by rats. 5. I made sure that all choked/sleep darted bodies said "(unconscious)". There was a recurring moment in Flooded District where I got accosted by six or seven weepers and I sleep darted them all, but two of the bodies didn't have the "(unconscious)" indicator, which told me that the dart killed them (??) I had to keep reloading my save and eventually bypassed that route altogether. 6. I took the key from Granny Rags and when she got pissed I bailed. I didn't do anything wit
  • with Slackjaw - I just left him there. I did take Granny's Cameo but I didn't destroy it. Hope this helps.
  • So does anyone know if u kill someone and load last checkpoint if that will screw u over?
  • If at first you don't succeed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUuL9de-avY Of course, I now know about the Blink upgrade screwing up the "Mostly Flesh and Steel" achievement. But this is a good look into the way I do things to keep my hands clean.
  • @59 Didn't even do any granny sidequests on my no kill/no upgrades/no alerts play through. Encountered her once in passing in mission 3 (i think). Just walked right by her.
  • @62...You can reload a previous save and it will cause no problems. I did it dozens of times (I only killed once and reloaded but mostly I reloaded for being spotted, but you'll be fine reloading previous saves). I suggest keeping 2-3 saves in case you do happen to totally screw up.
  • did exactly what #60 did except i freed slackjaw after stealing the key from granny and it still worked perfectly, got the achievement. took me a little over 5 hrs to do the whole game, i avoided everyone and all sidequests except those required for the non lethal kills.
  • Got this Achievement no problems on my first attempt. However, I never had to come near Granny/Slackjaw in my playthrough during mission 7. I didn't do any of Granny's side mission earlier on but did Slackjaws, but my playthrough took me nowhere near where they're having their confrontation in mission 7. If I can bypass is then surely others should be able to on their no deaths no alarms playthrough, just don't do granny's missions when they first become available and see if that makes a difference.
  • To add: Didn't kill anyone in prologue Didn't kill any rats, dogs, plants at all. Made sure bodies were left where rats & water couldn't get to them. The one time I did accidentally kill someone, I dashboarded, rebooted game and loaded a manual save, not an auto save. Didn't kill any main targets, always did the non lethal option (obviously). And the one I think many may be overlooking - DIDN'T POSSESS ANY ANIMALS. As upon being unpossessed from that animal, the host animal dies. This may be where a lot of people are stuffing it up. Didn't glitch for me at all. Thank goodness :)
  • Does anyone know if this achievement can be unlocked on easy?
  • I would thunk so,no difficulty achievements on this game ;)
  • I hope you're right. Thanks.
  • Just got it, so glad its over now i can go back to f'ing the guards up! Lol
  • Make sure you set your unconscious bodies away from stair wells too, if a sleeping person slides down even a couple of stairs they die when they stop sliding. =0/
  • FASTEST & EASIEST Guide for this achievement. It shows you how to beat each level super fast http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLhdTWB4l78ukYsvpaCTSZTrz_34N8Aolm
  • Just done all levels with no kills but no achievement! I did choke Granny Rags out in Mission 7 though. Can anyone confirm that if I replay Mission 7 I'll get the achievement or do I have to do the whole game again?
  • @45 you have to ensure that callista's uncle (forget name)survives his meating with high overseer campell.
  • So does anyone know for sure if you can kill the rats or not
  • @75 You CAN NOT choke her out. I have all the achievements and this one was by far the most difficult, The best way to get this one, is to never even talk to granny rags in mission 1, that way in mission 7, the entrance to the sewer is unlocked, but the area granny rags would be in, will be blocked off. you also can kill rats, but you can't kill anyone in the prologue when defending the queen, best to just block and hold it down. furthermore, if you don't kill any key targets, when you get this, you'll also unlock that ghost acievements with it.
  • Guys, just dont do any of the Granny Rags side missions in the first mission and you don't have to worry about her in chapter 7, that area isn't accessible thus you never have to try to steal the key off her, the gate is already unlocked. This Achievement is not hard at all.
  • Don't know if it's been said yet, but the best way to avoid the glitch altogether is to not do any Granny Rags missions. You can still do Slackjaw's though. By avoiding her you won't have to even be bothered with them in mission 7.
  • Played through the whole game without killing anyone, stealing the key from granny rags without killing her or Slackjaw. Turns out I apparently killed someone in the prologue. That sucks, what was I supposed to do, not do my job?!?
  • did it on the first run .. surprisingly fun despite no gadgets
  • Stealth is awesome, makes some of the missions so much easier if you don't kill anyone.
  • This achievement was really fun, the game is awesome since you can take loads of routes to get to your goal and all the guards and characters are random, they don't just have a 100% fixed path to patrol etc. Very enjoyable
  • Didnt Kill anyone is checked for every mission but it didnt pop. Im so sad :'(
  • @86 read about the Granny Rags issue in mission 7; that's most likely the problem. You can replay from that mission to the end and get it if that's the case.
  • Very easy achievement, played it on the hardest mode and I got the ghost and shadow achievement as well on the same play through.
  • Acchivment is fucking bullshit i didn't do anything and it said i killed 1 person that shit took hours not repeating it
  • Done it twice, still no achievement. http://i.qkme.me/35rooa.jpg
  • If you? kill the assassins in the prologue will it affect the clean hands achievement?
  • Just got this one and can confirm that killing the assassins in the prologue does NOT affect the achievement.
  • The cheevo is not glitched. If it says you got a kill and you didn't actively kill anyone, then one of several things happened: 1) You left an unconscious body in water 2) You left an unconscious body near a rat/rats 3) You left an unconscious body in a location where it was able to fall 4) You threw an unconscious body instead of placing it 5) You used a hacktool on a security device and it killed an enemy 6) When escaping using the train, the tallboys found and killed a survivor. This can happen, as once you have them in the 'safe place' one or two will wander back across the alley (clearly a bug). I prevented this by stacking corpses at the top of the stairs (used about 6) so they are prevented from wandering. Any of these things can result in a kill for you. To get the
  • To get the cheevo, you should also avoid killing rats, hagfish and weepers. You also must not kill any of your main targets (obviously) - there is an alternate way of dealing with all of them.
  • *Sigh* I HATE when $#!t goes half-answered in these threads. I'll try to ask what several people already have and STILL have no straight answer. I've got "0" kills in all mission stats, but no achievement and yes, I did sleep dart Granny Rags; can anyone PLEASE simply confirm the following: 1. Sleep Darting Granny rags negates this achievement. 2. Replaying JUST Mission 7 and leaving Granny Rags and Slackjaw alone will pop this achievement. 3. Replaying from Mission 7 THROUGH THE END OF THE GAME will pop this achievement. I'm trying to confirm #58 right now.
  • #58, confirmed: http://www.oxm.co.uk/46853/how-to-get-the-broken-dishonored-achievements/?cid=OTC-RSS&attr=OXM-General-RSS Does say whether or not replaying Mission 7 will pop the achievement though.
  • i got the game yesterday and played right through and never killed anyone not even rats or dogs, it even says i havent killed anyone on the mission stats.. i sleep darted every one of the people you have to kill and even with the duel in the boyle party i sleep darted him. all said unconscious not dead. and no achievement, very cranky as im a score whore and i really wanted this cheevo lol can anyone help me
  • CONFIRMED!! If you're one of those of us who did everything right for this one except you sleep-darted/choked out Granny Rags in mission 7 which registers as a "kill" (despite your mission kill count still reading "0"), all you have to do is replay from Mission 7 through the end of the game, still killing no one, and the cheevo will pop. Just make sure you LOAD Mission 7 from the start menu; the game keeps the mission start save from each mission in the Load screen (scroll all the way down,) so do it from there. I wouldn't risk PICKING Mission 7 from the start menu, not sure if it'll count as a part of your "one playthrough."
  • It's not that hard every one. I tried and succeeded the first time. Here are a few tips: - Prologue doesn't matter. Kill or wait. - Skipping enemies works. - Sleep darts and choking is key! - I did this together trying to get other achievements as well (the ones not to get spotted and stuff) and got them all. - Time bend level 2 stops time and you can walk freely. This also works if you encounter Granny Rags at level 7. Stop time, steal key, run, and stop time again while you slip away through the exit. No kills, and no spot. - Save, save and save a lot. You can reload previous saves without glitching the cheevo.
  • Sigh talk about boring
  • Played entire game, didn't take out a single reaper, rat, or fish. Didn't kill s single main target. Never killed a person. Only choked out and/or sleep-darted 3 enemies, and they were hidden in trash cans where they could not be killed by rats or anything else. I don't have the patience to replay this...
  • I haven't bought dishonored yet but I am about too? What would you guys rate the difficulty of achievements for this game. I'm curious
  • Excuse my punctuation.
  • For those of you who are still curious, I just got this on my first play through...a few things: I killed the assassins in the prologue Wasn't too nervous about being careful with bodies being eaten by rats Stole granny rags key and ran
  • Did not get this (nor Ghost) despite really not killing anyone (and never rewired a single security device). Didn't even face Granny Rags. Didn't even get to, since I skipped her side quests in the first place. Have no idea what could've happened and where, so I have no idea which save to load and I'm not about to play this one through a third time. So fuck this game and fuck Arkane. If I wasn't at home with a broken ankle anyway I'd be a bit pissed off about the wasted time on a second playthrough... Wait... I think I killed a couple wolfhounds in the flooded district map. Do they count?
  • @ 105: Without killing anything is a pretty solid hint. Nothing means nothing. Not even Dogs.
  • What about on the prison level?
  • Did this today on first playthrough, stealth is way more fun than just smashing your way through imo.
  • #106: actually it says "anybody" Killing animals is perfectly okay. I killed every rat, hagfish and dog I came across for shits and giggles and the only thing that threw off my clean hands run was the Granny Rags Knock-out/Kill glitch.
  • Ok so on all of my mission stats it says I killed nobody. Do I go and restart mission 7? Or should I restart the game all over and just make sure I didn't accidentally kill a dog or rat or something? Thanks
  • Woo Hoo the Boot upgrade does not matter I just got this achievements Mostly Flesh & Steel + Clean Hands + Shadow + Ghost on my 1st play through man it was a challenge trying to get all those on 1st playthrough NOW it's time to sup up and kill kill kill ah HAHAHAAA
  • You guys will like this...I can confirm that I have the Clean Hands achievement. When I came upon Granny and Slackjaw in mis. 7, I did Granny's quest and cooked slackjaw. At the end it should say you did not kill anybody. I also noticed that if you take SlackJaw's side it voids the "ghost" and "shadow" achievement. Also pickpocketing the key and running counts as being spotted as well (if you don't have time bend). Hope this helps!
  • Surprisingly enjoyable playing a stealthy play through to get clean hands, ghost and mostly flesh and steel. Very rewarding.
  • This achievement is going to be a killer but very rewarding to complete. I enjoy games with a little challenge.
  • Just finished the game with the Clean Hands achievement. I did kill the two assassin's in the prologue. I also killed some river krusts in the Kaldwin's Bridge mission (because I stupidly forgot I wasn't supposed to, and was an idiot for trying to help that guy out of the cell). So I can confirm that killing river krusts does not count against the Clean Hands achievement. I guess they also patched the multiple achievement glitch because I got the Clean Hands, Ghost, and Shadow achievements all at the same time.
  • OK - This has taken me AGES, but I finally got it this morning The only things I did differently from other games:- 1:- Didn"t Kill the assassins in the Prologue- just used parry till they got fed up and the game moved on. 2:- Made sure I went and met Granny rags in the sewer level - and this tim I just pickpocketed her Key and Fled- easy enough to get out of her lair once you have the key . I now have my hundred points Get the Ghost achievements seperately if you can since for clean hands - it doesn"t matter if you have a couple of unconscious bodies found and if you get spotted a couple of times - just Blink off and csrry on - you can also use power upgrades and ability enhancements Cheers all - happy now!
  • Dont kill in proluge only block
  • I've done the Flooded District 3 times now and every time it says there is 1 hostile killed and i swear, most of the time I'm possessing rats and running past all the hostiles! Anyone having the same problem?
  • BTW I've only done the Slackjaw missions to get rid of the Pendleton twins, bypassed Granny Rags completely... and now I can just walk straight through to the Hound Pits! Does this have something to do with my mystery kill? or am I just not seeing a consequence of a certain action?
  • I was also having trouble with the flooded district mission. I'd say the best way to go about finishing it with no kills is to avoid knocking out hostiles all together. There's too many opportunities for rats to find the bodies or for them to accidentally slip into water and drown INSTANTLY. I made use of possession and stop time to bypass most assassins. Oh, and as for the granny rags/slackjaw thing, grab that key and book it.
  • Did Clean Hands/Ghost/Shadow/Mostly Flesh and Steel/ and Art Dealer among others in one play through. People seem to have trouble doing all these when it comes down to dealing with the Slackjaw - Granny Rags scene. What worked for me was to loot Granny's hideout area with the final art piece, then grab her cameo and opening the oven (but not putting it in there yet) then SAVE and as quickly as possible: Pickpocket Granny's key, (she talks trash but she won't spot you yet) free Slackjaw, and blink up towards the Granny's room, but stay hidden outside the wall if she's in there. Slackjaw will come attack Granny and distract her. When Granny is out of her room, jump in, throw the cameo in the oven, then go through the locked door towards the runes. Granny and Slackjaw will duke it out
  • Only used blink and never killed anyone, still didn't get the achievement. Too bad.
  • I loved doing this achievement for my first run through, trying to find my way through Dunwall with no prior experience was the toughest and best game experience I had in a long time.
  • Just choke out all of your enemies, use sleep darts, and do all non-lethal tactics of taking out the important targets.
  • Challenge Accepted! :)
  • Just got it, now 1000GS and Clean Hands was my 50000 GS achievement :D
  • BTW if you dont do Granny mission in Main game mission 2 (which is agains Clean Hands playthrough anyway) she wont appear during Mission 7, gate will be simply open, no Weepers in sewers.
  • I'm very curious about something I haven't seen anyone mention yet about how achievements work in this game. Can I do this Clean Hands achievement in broken up segments, or does it all have to be sequential? I have zero kills on every mission, yet no achievement. Do I have to play the last mission and beat the game AGAIN, now that I've went back and made sure to get zero kills in every mission? Please explain to me how this works. Thanks!
  • Disregard my last comment. I now know that it must be sequential. Stupid design. I don't have infinite hours to play this game through 3 or 4 times. And yes, I'm on an achievements website, so it's already been clearly established that I have OCD just like the rest of you guys. Don't judge me. #shame
  • What about the sewers part in Mission 1. The rats eat the guys walking in. How do you avoid this?
  • You need to start from mission one and kill no one to get this achievement. There is no way you can just replay a mission that you failed to do so and get the achievement.
  • This cheevo is Glitched! Played from prologue(not killing assassins) to the end with no kills and it hasn't unlocked.
  • Does anyone know if it has to be done on a certain difficulty?
  • Does killing the assassins during the prologue seriously disable this achievement? I missed this achievement on a very clean and tediously long playthrough..
  • Forget all the other guides that are out there. This video Walkthrough is probably the best walkthrough i've ever used. This guy walks you through every level in possibly record breaking time with each mission taking at least 9 - 11mins. On top of all that not only do you unlock Clean Hands but you also unlock Ghost, Shadow, Mostly Flesh & Steel, Political Justice, and Surgical. 6 achievements in one super quick play through, why not. I highly recommend anyone trying to go for the Clean Hands achievement use this video walkthrough. here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSooyfnfghk Your Welcome.
  • I am about to start my second play through of this game and I will be focusing on this achievement and also the "Mostly Flesh and Steel" achievement as well as a few others. I'm glad I came on this forum and read some of it's users advice. So thank you very much. Btw, I made this account because of this game. Wish me luck :)
  • This achievement must be glitched i have avery level and didnt kill anyone
  • I completed the game again today and got my achievement heres what i did different. In the prologue do not kill any of the assassins block the entire time, and in mission 2 completely ignore granny rags.
  • @135, That is definitely the best guide to use when going for Clean Hands. However, even though I followed his play through EXACT, I still didn't get it. Have all 0's and check marks in every mission, and did it all in one play through. The ONLY thing I can think of is I may or may not have killed a Weeper in the sewer when you first have to go investigate them. I was trying to avoid them but nothing was happening, so one finally attacked me and a 'mash RT" button prompt came up so I hit it and knocked it into the sewer. But that was between missions so I don't know why it would count. Doesn't seem like there would be any way around it. Pretty bummed, spent like 4+ hours and no cheevo. :(
  • Damn *** I am doing clean hands and collecting solkolovs paintings ** Do complete the first mission Granny Rags gives you in the Overseer Cambell level (choke out, and sleep dart the other two suitors) or else when you are in the sewers in the flooded distrcit (much later in the game) a whole area will be blocked off and you will not be able to access the area where Granny Rags holds Slackjaw. This area contains a painting. Frigg!!
  • Do the two guards that the rats eat alive while you're escaping from prison count as kills? People say they always finished with only 2 kills and I can't find a way to keep the rats from eating them.
  • I'm on the road to get this achievement! Its pretty tough but everytime i finish a mission its pretty rewarding!! You just basically need to be a ninja!
  • AFX Acid@ i have same problem you have fallowe that guide but no ghost and no clean hand so why ? :)
  • I followed these guidelines to get Ghost, Shadow, Clean Hands and Mostly Flesh and Steel: 1: Save often 2: Do it on easy no reason to stress on this game on very hard the achievements pop regardless of how difficult you make it on yourself. 3: You can kill rats and the plants but no hounds. 4: You must replay the mission if you failed on ghost, shadow or clean hands. If you were lucky and made a save before you messed up its easy to reload a save. 5: Stick to corners and constantly use the ability to peek around corners or through peepholes works wonders. 6: Do not do any Granny Rags missions and it skips the encounter in level 7 allowing you to get clean hands really easily. 7: Liberal use of non head shot sleep bolts. 8: Avoid getting your gear at the end you do not need i
  • Continued You do not need your gear for the last two missions choke and blink do the job just fine
  • I can confirm that killing the assassins in the prologue does not affect the achievement. Also the two guards in the sewers after the escape can be eaten. If you are having trouble with Ghost when you go for the weepers under the cellar do not let them see you. Also, rats can be killed. Here is a great guide i found. Its essentially a speed run for Clean Hands, Ghost, Shadow, and mostly flesh and steel. The guide is the best one out there in my opinion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSooyfnfghk In case the link doesn't work its by The Red Dragon.
  • I hate doing stealth so much im not even gonna bother with this chev. i also like 2 kill stuff in games!
  • That was a good stealth play through but now im going to show the people of dunwall the meaning of genocide.
  • if yall did not realize if you kill any wolfhounds you can not get the achievement also the enemies in the prologue do count towards it
  • Theres some good tutorials all over youtube, in most missions its actually a lot faster to complete it in stealth than to go in all guns blazing!
  • IMPORTANT NOTE!! Just finished flooded district without killing anyone, but I did choke a few weepers that didn't have the "unconscious" note on their body (in the tower with my gear), and it counted as them being killed at the end of the mission. Went back through and there are a few that seem to do this. My advice - dodge the weepers completely!
  • You CAN kill rats. If you knock somebody unconscious and a roaming swarm of rats eats them, it doesn't count against you. You can fight Daud and still get this. Either choke him out, or if you beat him he asks to be spared. Be really careful using sleep darts on enemies near ledges, especially assassins. If they fall they may die (you can tell by the blood splat), and an enemy who falls into water will drown. You can get enemies to step away from ledges by shooting a normal arrow behind them, and when they walk to investigate, shoot them with a slee dart. Sometimes it's safer to alert the assassins and just shoot the point blank with a sleep dart when they come to you. Obviously you cant do this if you're doing a ghost run.
  • God this one was hard I'm not very sneaky kept hitting them off a ledge on the last level.
  • POS achievement. In all the missions stats is checked that i didn't kill anyone and no achievement.I think I left one of the weepers in the water when I was checking the disturbance in the sewers.
  • Stupid achievement.. You need to run every mission perfectly thereby saving a lot. Also do NOT put more than 2 hostiles on a surface. I made this stupid mistake which leads to a hostile dropping off and dies. Once you know how a mission works it's pretty easy, but time consuming. I had to replay mission 1 like 3 times already, really annoying. Also a tip for new players who are playing mission 1, once you brand Overseer Campbell, be sure the guards in the hallyways around him are taken care off by choking them. Otherwise if you are not finishing the mission fast enough, they will ring the alarm and BAM you need to start over. Good luck all, the idea of this achievement is not bad, I like stealthy games but you can't check during the game if someone dies or not which is really fr
  • frustrating.
  • Really other than assassins this was relatively easy, trying to do this stacked with ghost make it like you are a fart in the wind. I had one issue letting someone drown and had to redo otherwise just have to save often and not get frustrated.

  • I can confirm that killing Assassins in the prologue WILL NOT VOID THIS ACHIEVEMENT. Rats are ok to kill.
