I shall not be moved from my Xbox 360 pre-order of this game. But they should probably hurry up with that beta. Kotaku just reported it taking 2.5 hours to complete Gears of War 3 on normal.
If it launches after Gears 3 hits, I'm going to have a hard time pulling away from it. |

| @18 - They didn't report it taking 2.5hrs to complete Gears on normal... they did a hands on with the first 2.5hrs of the game (and said that was 1/5th of the campaign). Don't say misleading stuff like that. |

I don't know what you people bitching about dlc already being announced want. You'd be perfectly fine if it was announced 3 months after the release of the game, but not before.
There's something people really don't understand or take into consideration about game companies. It's not like the developer finishes the game the day before it is released, games are finished a couple months ahead and take time to press the discs and ship. Do you expect the developers and programmers to sit on their hands waiting for the release date just staring at a blank screen? No they have money to make so they automatically start working on new content or different projects.
Sometimes content may even be on the disc already, but the developers don't see it being ready for release. God forbid a developer tries something but doesn't get it finished in time, that or they do release it and you itch that it's buggy as hell. Gamers are never happy with anything, just bitch about being screwed over. If it's that big of a problem then stop gaming. |

| Why are people bitching? If you're going to bitch about something like this, do it over Gears of War 3. The game was ready to come out last year and they recently announced the season pass for $35 with 4 map packs. Map packs that are more than likely already made and ready to go and should be on disc. |

| I prob can geuss the the pre-early DLC,s are: The Weapons Kit, Specat Pack,Dog Tag Pack. Basicly all you would get on various gamestores when you did pre-order it. But still its nice for those that not had a chance to get this. At least here in Holland it was hard to find a store that actualy gave the Specat Kit, mostly just the weapons kit. I wonder what they mean with the HD instalation on disk one? I just geussing it means you then be able to play the game in full HD so 1080P instead if the usual 720P most PS3 and Xbox360 games using atm. |

| @41 As far as I know about it is that they are still the same dual layer dvd just a new format that lets them use more of the available space on the dvd. Remember the dual layer dvd has about 8.5GB of space and they only use 6.5GB in there games then have to use another disk I suppose the other 2GB is used for some anti-piracy stuff or they use and archaic coding that they are finally cleaning up. But don't get your hopes too high they are still limited by the media they can probably get up to 7.8GB available but i would not expect more than half a gig in increased useable space. |

I hope they do another Dr. Pepper promo or something with BF3 for free DLC. I ended up with the Spectat kits free for BFBC2 because of that lovely promo. Take something people use anyway, and give the DLC away for free. Sweet!
I made the mistake of preordering from Gamestop instead of BestBuy in the US. I missed the Spectat kits in exchange for early weapon unlocks. I mean, I'd have all those weapons unlocked soon enough anyway. I'd rather have the MP skins kit.
Oh, and I hope against hope that they do another Vietnam DLC with expanded content over the BC2 one.
That, and a BF2143 remake as DLC. Seeing 2143 in Frostbite 2 with the updated graphics would be the icing on the cake. |

I love this september-november games: BF3, COD and GoW3.
With battlefield you have granted an excelent MP experience and not so much of a great campaign, but this game might change that with the co-op addition, sound improvement, graphics and the most important a great gameplay.
GoW3 and MW3 have great campaigns and MP too.

MS chose to stay with the dvd format because it was more feasible at the time. PS3s started out at 700 bucks. Also, DVDs can spin and be read faster than blu ray, so you can access the content faster without requiring an install to play the game.
That is one of the things I hate about my PS3...installing every game, and what is even worse, installing downloaded games. I like both of my systems, but only use my ps3 for exclusives, and leave my other gaming on my xbox, where I can party chat with my brother and friends.
And I like multiple disks, as it means high quality textures. Switching discs won't be a problem, because after you beat the game, you will only have the mp disc in anyway. |

We, the bitchers, understand clearly, that a game isn't pressed the day before release but:
This is a shooter with a high focus on MP, they even said it takes about 100hours per class to unlock everything. This game will come probably with 10Maps. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out that will most likely be not enough variety for people so they demand more.
There is an incentive to deliver the game unfinished or with low amount of content because you can just deliver it later and even get additional money on top of that- Less content in-game in addition to addictive gameplay means a higher demand for DLC.
If they would care they could put more maps in the game to begin with.
If certain content is not finished they could just put back the release date, which I guess would be accepted from the majority.
I know Developers want to make money bla bla bla but you can't complain about people wishing for developers that don't follow a stockholder-value policy and create games because they love doing it, like they used to.
Remember when Epic put out maps for free for Unreal Tournament and over all places developers delivered free stuff and released level editors for fans to create content and stuff? And they still didn't bankrupt. Sure you can make more money with putting out a half finished game and charge an additional 10-60$ for DLC. Don't know if developers just don't care for their games anymore or if it is EA slavery contracts. Sure its unrealistic to dream of gaming like it used to be with complete games on a disc but you could still wish it would be this way. I can understand if someone acceptes this because its just the way it is but I just can't see how you could like or defend EAs policies if you don't hold a rather big amount of EA stocks.

People almost never get into jobs exclusively for the pay. For example, I'm planning on attending medical school to become a doctor in the future. I wouldn't even consider that field of study if it didn't interest me at all. Yeah, some doctors end up with hefty salaries, but that's not the main reason why I want to be one.
Also, you're acting as if these games don't have deadlines to be met. Eventually, the game has to be released, and there's no way that everything that a developer wants in a game will make the cut. There's also a seasonality to gaming, as the summer is pretty much an empty void compared to how massive the fall and early winter are. Most publishers are not going to push a game out of the Christmas season just because the developers have more ideas for the game. Not to mention that games with protracted development cycles almost never turn out great; Team Fortress 2 is the exception that proves the rule.
Furthermore, games that are lacking in content that retail at full price (e.g. Naughty Bear) get horrible reviews and do not sell as well as the juggernauts with oodles of content, like The Elder Scrolls. |

| Yeah, I really don't care which disc says "Disc 1" on it. Really looking forward to the game, and anxiously awaiting the beta. Glad they didn't scale anything back just to get it all on one disc. Also, I don't really think having it on two discs will break the immersion when switching from SP to MP. Just saying. That bugged me with LA Noire, but this is totally different. Anyway, gonna be awesome. Them planning to support the game with DLC is neither a surprise, nor something to be upset about. At least they are giving us the "updated old maps" for free instead of charging us for them like a certain other shooter franchise. |

@66 When you buy this game are you googing to be able to play the single player part from start to end? Will you go into the multi player and be able to play every map the game shows you? The answer to both of those questions is yes. Quit with the notion that it is an unfinished game. Games are more expensive to make than they use to be. While they could most certainly afford to give away these maps it won't help pay development costs. The only time I think we have the right to bitch about paid DLC is with you're paying got an unlock code for on disc content.
Did people bitch this much when companies released expansion packs on the PC? |

| When I buy a game I expect all the content to be on the discs, not 90% then paying another tenner to be able to play it for what should already on it in in the first place, this is where proper governing is needed. |

Battlefield is not known for its single-player. It's known for its multiplayer.
Seems counter-intuitive, but actually makes sense when you think about it. Either way, it won't make a difference. |

I feel the disc number is a bit backwards too, but also unnecessary, as the discs won't be played in sequence like in a long RPG.
Why not just call the discs "multiplayer" and "single player", rather than numbers? |

Two discs is fine with me since it's not that big of a deal.
@36 The beta will be out by the end of the month and will be open to everyone so you'll be able to judge it off that.
@58 @59 DICE said it will be a 12 hour campaign.

@93 It will release by the end of the month, DICE has only said September, not which part of it unfortunately. Alot of people, including me, were hoping for early September though.
@94 I think they mean Hard Drive installion content. For a second I was thinking High Definition but that didn't really make any sense.

| Would be cool if they offered three version then - MP only, SP only and bundle like this here. I know many ppl who onnly buy games for MP and vice versa and option to buy it cheaper while knowingly losing the other aspect of the game would be something refeshing. I mean since it's on 2 discs already, that means it can run separate anyway.... |

| Fucking Finally, I wish more developers did this like with Dead Space 2 and not limit MP graphics in favor of the core single player ones, like Dice did with Bad Company 2 and Crytek did for Crysis 2. And @52 shitty graphics generally fuck up my "immersion" more than simply changing a disc, which you forget you even did 2 minutes later.(P.S. At the end of the day, It's supposed to be a video game buddy, not real life. Your not a "space zombie hunter" your a gamer, so get your fatass up and change your disc. It takes you 5 seconds.) |

I for one am extremely excited about the announcement of DLC.
So many people feel the need to voice their opinions on which is the favorite of the two franchises (COD or BF). The fact are that both games have something the other doesn't; You all felt the need to keep up to date on BF3 otherwise you wouldn't have come to this page.
I won't argue one being better then the other or who has DLC coming out first or who has the most discs.

I cant wait any longer for this game It is going to be fantastic on all formats (Ill be getting it on pc and xbox). As for the whole 2-disc issue, I dont really have a problem with it. It only takes a few seconds to change over but more because the multiplayer disc will be permanently kept in my xbox.
Good times will be had by all. |
