There'll also be a brand-new hardcore mode for single-player too.

Here's the full list of content you'll find in the Red Dead Redemption GOTY Edition:

  • Original Red Dead Redemption game with a brand-new hardcore single-player mode
  • Undead Nightmare single-player campaign and multiplayer modes
  • Legends and Killers Pack, featuring additional multiplayer map locations, multiplayer characters, and the Tomahawk projectile weapon
  • Liars and Cheats Pack, including the Stronghold multiplayer competitive mode, Free Roam gambling games, multiplayer horse races with combat, and the Explosive Rifle
  • Hunting and Trading Outfits Pack, featuring two outfits with corresponding gameplay challenges for John Marston
  • Outlaws To The End Co-Op Mission Pack, including six co-op missions for up to four players
  • All original pre-order content, including the Deadly Assassin Outfit, War Horse, and Golden Guns Weapon Pack
  • Solomon’s Folly single-player gang hideout and challenges available for the first time on Xbox 360
  • Just-released Myths and Mavericks Bonus Pack, featuring fan-favourite multiplayer characters and all-new locations to battle in

The Myths & Mavericks Bonus DLC is available to download for free now, while the Red Dead Redemption Game of the Year Edition is out on October 11th in North America and October 14th in Europe.

Finally, waited for this to buy it and I'm so glad I can now. Been desperate to play it but didn't want to risk paying for everything separately and kicking myself after seeing this.

Don't know how active the online community is by now.
I've already got the original game (bought it around the time it came out), so I won't get this. Wish I could try the hardcore mode though.

Little too late... Besides, there are a lot of new games coming out so I don't think it will sell very well if they charge full price.

Is the new hardcore mode only available in the new edition or are they going to release it as free DLC for people who already own the game? I have the game and all the DLC so I would be buying it strictly for the new Hardcore mode, seems a bit much just for a new mode.

If you don't have it yet or don't have all the DLC I can see this being a good deal but what about all the people out there who have everything?

Well, I got RDR for $24 and Undead Nightmare (disc, so, all the DLC) for around $20 as well, so this isn't a huge loss for me.

The only content I will be missing is the PS3-exclusive stuff, and I don't have the pre-order stuff by choice. And then there will be Hardcore, which I don't care for.

I bet the Solomon's Folly thing will be DLC down the line anyway, but I don't know how much I care at this point.

Still, this is awesome for anyone who doesn't own the game yet.

@#29 - May not be new, but it's still a slap in the face.

plz make hardcore mode and solomons folly as dlc. i hate paying 60 dollars for a game and missing out on content. exclusive stuff hurts the consumer. wether its console exclusive or retailer exclusive content, its still not right. im sick of "exclusive" crap. just a cheap tactic to get you to buy the game. you should buy a game cuse you like it, buy from the store cuse you like that store and buy for a system cuse you like that system. i remember they did the same thing with gta4. im not paying the 40 dollars or whatever they are asking for a little bit of exclusive content.yet another way to punisher your supporters rockstar. =(

Damn. Well I had the orignal game plus all the DLC packs; Legend & Killers, Liars & Cheats, Undead Nightmare & Outlaws to The End. I downloaded the hunting & trading outfits but to be honest, the benefits don't really pay off considering the amount of effort to unlock the actual outfits. Yeah you still have to unlock the Hunting & Trading outfits the same as every other outfit in the game. But you really don't need them. At all.

You can get Myths & Mavericks for free anyway. Solomon's Folly is just another gang hideout you could clear in probably ten minutes. The pre-order stuff is just meh.

As for the hardcore single player mode? Well, problem is it doesn't say exactly what the hell that is. But as good as the single player is once you've beaten it and gotten 100% completion there's no need to go through i again.

In short, this is a VERY good deal for anyone who never bought the game originally, or who may have bought the original and never bought any DLC. For the rest of us though? We already have everything. The few small extras aren't enough for a brand new purchase.

I'll probably sell my standard RDR / Undead Collection disc to get this. I'd like to have the DLC weapons in my standard single player, but since it's on the UC disc it can't be used. Depending on the price, I wouldn't mind paying a tiny amount to get that.

@ #45: I couldn't agree more. I bought this day one when it initially came out, played and loved the single player (multi, not so much) but I still bought all the DLC up to Undead Nightmare. I'd like them to at least do the people who did this a solid by either releasing Solomon's Folly cheap or free as DLC. I expect Rockstar to do the right thing (unlike certain other game companies *coughACTIVISION/CAPCOMcough*) but still, it'd be nice to know.

OT: This is really awesome for those who haven't picked this up yet

@43, yes? Anybody who's a completionist would want this. I could do without the single-player costumes (which weren't supposed to be made available in the first place) and this new DLC; there's nothing I want in either of them.

I would even consider paying for Hardcore Mode and access to Solomon's Folly, but I'm not even given the choice because I bought the original game; I even paid for the UN Collection on top of that.

This is the opposite of how you're supposed to treat your fans/existing customers.

@5 I think it'll do well. Late September and October on the whole have some good releases but there aren't really any blockbuster releases within that time frame that will completely shadow everything else besides Battlefield 3, Forza 4, Gears of War 3 and Arkham City. I mean the sales aren't gonna be through the roof but I think it'll be able to hold its own, plus its a Rockstar game so that pretty much guarantees good sales anyways

I agree with all of these people who are worried about whether or not people who already have the game will be able to play the new hardcore mode. I bought the game day 1 and all of the dlc so I shouldn't be left out of this new Red Dead content. It wouldn't make any sense to exclude most of the biggest fans of the game out of this new content without paying $40 or $60 (Idk how much it'll be).

Again, not disappointed that I waited to buy, and had friends to borrow from. Been looking forward to getting this game so I can actually complete and own it, and this will be a good incentive to hold off a few more weeks. RDR really was one of the best games of last year, bar-none.

@29-The Soloman's folly hideout and challenges plus the new hardcore mode are the part he was talking about. How exactly are two new features that are only available on this GOTY edition not a slap to those who have already purchased everything?

Bundling everything together for an amazing deal is one thing. Adding new content then saying if you already own the game you cannot have access to it unless you buy it again is just wrong.

@ 54 - Hypothetically speaking, due to R*'s track record, suppose this DLC drops later on significantly cheap or free? Then all we had to do was wait a bit more. Not saying this is going to happen but it's not like R* is doing this to be like EA or something. It's an incentive to buy the GOTY edition and it's not like these editions are new news. They've been doing this for a while now. Not everyone gets on the DLC right away or the main game itself. Just sayin from a different POV. It's still a helluva deal what with all the DLC that was free anyway.

@57-I completely agree about the deal part. I think it is amazing and anyone who does not already have the game or all of the DLC should defiantly look into it. My point was in the keeping people who already have the game from 2 new features. Now if they release them at a later date, even for a price(to keep the free incentive on the GOTY), that would be fine but to deny them all together would just be wrong IMO.

I hope an update is released that allows Solomon's Folly and Hardcore mode to those of us already with the game. Otherwise, having everything on disc (although I assume it might be 2 discs) is nice as I always prefer physical media. If the price is right, I could repurchase the game. Yea, I'm crazy like that.

Just bought the Undead Collection for 1600, it went on sale today for 1000, and now the GOTY.... Crap.

Good news for those not yet playing it.

Undead Collection has been on sale enough times that I'm surprised people have been still waiting for the GOTY edition.

Aww, kinda wish that Undead Nightmare had a Hardcore mode too. What I was able to play of it before the game died on me was too easy, but I may still pick this up to so I can finally finish it.

For those who already own RDR...

the complete DLC package (minus the free "Myths & Mavericks") is available for 1000 this week (600MSP off?), and all of the separate DLCs are on sale as well.

As if anyone reads this far down on the comments, but still.

Just to let everyone know, The GOTY is going to be £27.99 on Play.com and might I say, the cover looks a lot like the Complete Edition of GTA 4.

Damn,..... I should have waited for this instead of buying Undead Collection on DoTW. Only reason is because now I also need a game and here I would have all in one package. Shame on me, but good for others:-P

Good thing I waited for this. I will be racking this game when it comes out. I did the same with Mafia 2 platinum hits with all the DLC including the one from PS3.

Never played the game but I actually might start it up. Looks interesting now that I don't work at Gamestop.

@comment #13 The online multiplayer is EXTREMELY, and I put emphasis on extremely active. A lot of people are buying the game now, and downloading content due to the price drop on the marketplace on downloadable content or add ons a while back. They're also playing more often because the Myths and Mavericks FREE map pack came out recently. Personally I've seen new and old people come into the game ever since it came out. Because I'm the leader of the largest posse/clan on that game that was originally started about a week after the game first came out in May of 2010 when I went to the store to buy it and started roundin' people up for my posse. I haven't ever seen a decline in players that play it EVER. I've seen probably the same couple people playing in free roam or gang matches about once but that was a weekday when not a lot of people have free time to play. But the game is growing. And I did hear news from a kid's uncle that works for Rockstar that they are releasing a game around 2012 of next year.
*By the way, sorry for such a late reply.*

Bah, i did buy the pack with "Undead Nightmare", "Legends & Killers" and "Liars & Cheaters" back when it was half price some months ago, but still haven't gotten around to buy the game itself... And to be honest, i can easily live without the gold gun, extra outfits and similar stuff.

Is it worth buying the GOTY-edition over the normal? Since "OUtlaws to the End" and "Myths and Mawericks" are (After what i understood) free, don't i really already have everything that comes with it, except the game itself?

So glad they did this. I have really nice staff at EB Games who don't pressure me into doing anything when I walk through the door. They just suggest I buy the GOTY Edition over the much cheaper original version and I let my own weak conscience do the rest.

I've never really been into Westerns, or war games, so this GOTY Edition just made it so much easier to buy. And having everything that had been released included is exactly what these Editions should be all about.
