GTA IV Achievements - We Were Right

GTA IV Achievements - We Were Right
Written Tuesday, April 15, 2008 by Dan Webb

So the GTA list has been kind of known for some time now and the rumoured list has gone from here to the end of the world courtesy of the world wide web and I think it's safe to say that this is the ACTUAL list now. I presumed everyone knew until someone sent me a message over MSN Messenger which triggered this here post.

The Rumoured Achievement List

How can I be so certain you say... Well...

  • OXM confirmed they were real and the confirmation hastly disappeared.
  • The OXM review names the Assassin's Greed achievement in their review.
  • The One Man Army achievement matches an old screenshot.
  • Plenty of people (including our new news writer Neil) have seen the list with his own two eyes.
We knew anyway, but for any doubters out there... Hear us now, the list is genuine. Why isn't the list up? Where are the images? Well, Microsoft like they did with Mass Effect, they have locked the list until release... So you won't see the images and that here until April 29th unless we get lucky.

You have a new memeber welcome, and it's a good list not to hard and not to easy and I can't wait to play just 13 more days and I second that achievement glitch.

GTA IV is all about enjoying the game - not the achievements. I'm just gonna take my time with this one and have fun with it :)

Tuesday, April 15, 2008 @ 10:45:30 PM

Didn't plan on playing for achievements anyway but the list was pretty crap to what it could have been, guess there are limits as to what achievements can be though.

Tuesday, April 15, 2008 @ 11:01:29 PM

it would have been better to have more time consuming achievements like kill 1000 pedestrians with a car... but o0o well this will bring me 1000 GS closer to 50000!

Tuesday, April 15, 2008 @ 11:07:54 PM

Good to have some sort of confrimation, but i don't understnad why they lock achievements for certain games.

They Locked COD4 and Halo 3 achievements, but they were both revealed on the site before.

While other games are not locked.

Whats the reasoning for this, is it only done for big game releases?

I guess RSV2 wasn't a big enough release

Tuesday, April 15, 2008 @ 11:34:45 PM

Balls...I hate to admit it but those achievements just don't work for me. There is just no creativity in them. But, like Bully, statistics-based achievements are best for these kinds of games. Drive X miles, Molotov X amount of people, etc. Those are the best. Oh well. They are just achievements. Can't fucking wait!!!

god damn 30 hour achievement just had to be in there..

aside from that all the other achievements look easily attainable with enough time spent on the game, which I personally won't have a problem with.

God I can't wait for this game, I've been playing San Andreas to catch up on the series. But seriously, they really shouldn't put a time on beating the game, that just means I'll have to play it twice(first to enjoy second to get the dang achievement).

Why are people complaining that the 30hour completion achievment is going to spoil their experience of the game. Jesus Christ?!!! just go for it on your second run-through.

Wednesday, April 16, 2008 @ 09:31:40 AM

Personally, I play through a game once to enjoy it (unless it's a booster), and then again to get achievements, so two or three playthroughs is fine by me.

Wednesday, April 16, 2008 @ 11:14:20 AM

How come every one is bitchin about the 30 hours achievement. It can't be that hard. Right?
Just start a new on a new save when you completed the game once. Then redo it. And there you go. Just as simple as that.
Although I'll have to whine about the ranked achievements. Fakkin Hate Them.

The achievements look pretty straight forward and (pardon the pun) looks achievable, lol. But then again, this will be the first game for me which I will play for fun rather than going after achievements. Which reminds me, the key to the city achievement will require some time. Good luck to those who will go for it.

Wednesday, April 16, 2008 @ 01:01:49 PM

You guys realize that you don't have to do the "Liberty City Minute" achievement on the first play through right? I see a lot of people complaining that they're putting a time on beating the game....I think it's kinda cool in a sense, you just take your time on the first run; then play it again and go for the achievement.

I wonder if there is going to be any cheat codes for this game. GTA is damn near impossible without Health/Armor/Lower Wanted Level cheats. I just hope I'm wrong this time around!

Wednesday, April 16, 2008 @ 01:09:36 PM

YES! Imo, the achievements are awesome. It'll be real hard to get the full thousand though, due to that complete the game in 30 hours achievement.

if you dont like the achievements, what would you rather have? this is probably the best anyone could have done with the game and the 30 hour achievement? it probably means the story mode has been seriously cut down. so dont get too worried.

Wednesday, April 16, 2008 @ 04:03:59 PM

I dont really see a problem with beating the story mode in 30 hours. usually in GTA games i beat the story mode first, then once i have all the extras unlocked from beating the story mode (usually guns, good amount of cash, extra vehicles, etc) go around and do side missions and general mayhem and fun runs. Its not like you have to beat the game in under 30 hours then never play it again after that to get the achievment. hehe

ranked achievements suck, even the thought of multiplayer on a gta game sucks.gta was always a single player game,i think they really shouldve listened to the fans on this one.dont get me wrong im still getting it and i'll be taking a week of work "cough cough"to play it.

Wednesday, April 16, 2008 @ 04:54:45 PM

I don't mind the achievements, except the online ones, but, I've gotta admit, event though I want to not go for the points, cos it's not about achievements with GTA, I still will, cos I'm addicted to the damn things. I'm not gonna say I won't cos everybody else is saying it. Many people say their not going for the achievements, but when the opportunity comes up, like, say the One Man Army, if you have a 6 star wanted level, you will be like "If I survive for 5 minutes I'll get an achievment", you know you're gonna go for it, there's no point denying. The game will be immense, hopefully, but the achievements have too much of a hold on us, and we are all gonna cane this game for all it's points, so we all might as well accept these achievements, no matter how crappy they are, plus they look

Wednesday, April 16, 2008 @ 04:57:12 PM

It sucks that we cant see the achievements, but I bet they will have some sweet achievements. and to think its only 13 days away!!! cant wait to get it although its bound to be off the shelfs at the stores for about a few weeks, but still cant wait to play it I know it will be fun see you dudes on GTA4 this month! :)

Wednesday, April 16, 2008 @ 05:20:21 PM

Some do look quite hard, but not really hard, I take back the really and just leave easy lol, but everyone is whinging "oh no, 30 hours, not enough time, blah blah blah, rockstar sucks now" to be completely honest, no GTA has ever had a story that lasted over 6-8 hours, I doubt this will be any different. So, imo the 30 hours could be the easiest achievement on that game, if older GTA's are anything to go by.

I think the achievements in this game are great.

Why's everyone moaning about the 30 hours achievement? You don't have to do it on the first run through you know...

I'm gonna have fun barrel rolling a car 5 times lol. The achievements don't look that bad could of been worse, such as 5gp for each mission that would of sucked :(

Sunday, April 20, 2008 @ 01:29:32 AM

I don't know about the online achievements. When you have that many online achievements, it usually means that you don't believe in your game to be good on its own. I thought COD4 did a wonderful job they had no online achievements but they had other stuff to keep the customer happy. I was kinda hoping for the same here. More single player stuff and less emphasis on online, but oh well hopefully won't be what I fear. Honestly the only thing I care about in this game is how well it plays. If that works than I don't care about the achievements.

I'll still buy and play the downloadable content, but achievements would be nice.
Who the hell cares!?
No achievements, no sale ... and that goes for any game ... whether you're GTA or Halo!
Just stop with the DLC achievements full stop ... you're ruining my completion percentage dammit!
