| I have to say, for all the praise Sonic CD gets as being THE BEST SONIC CAME EVER, when I finally had the chance to sit down and play it I really wasn't that impressed. And yes, I played it up to the end. Give me Sonic 2 or 3 & Knuckles any day. |

| @4 That's not a good thing. Everyone knows that the US has far superior taste in music. The rest of the world is just tone deaf and therefor cannot appreciate the melodic marvels that we Americans get to enjoy. You should hear TMNT 1989 with US music. It's amazing. @5 how can you say only US appreciates good music, wouldnt the difference in numbers (if your statement was correct) mean that the US in infact the ones with bad taste. OT: I suck at 2D sonic, well any 2D game wether it be platformer or fighter, so I'll probably give this a miss, but bring on sonic generations |

Its always something that's divided opinion (thus the best solution would be to have an option to choose between one or the other). Fact is though, the game was designed with the Japanese soundtrack in mind, given that it was developed by Sonic Team in Japan rather than the Sega Technical Institute in the US (who were working on Sonic 2 through most of CD's development). While a lot of people complain quite passionately that Sonic Boom was a superior piece of music to Sonic - You Can Do Anything, its hard to deny that the animation and music were perfectly synced with the latter, as sued in the Euro/JPN soundtrack. In the end, its probably not so much about good or bad music as it is about the nostalgia of what you remember. That said, the music that played in the "Past" timezones was the same across all releases. Which sort of caused a discrepancy with the US soundtrack. Afterall, the Past, Present, Good Future and Bad Future tracks were often variations of the same basic tune. Whereas with the US version of the game, which retained the Euro/JPN past music, had completely different tunes for the other time zones. See, here is the Past music for Metallic Madness, which was the same across all versions. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZP7gYU7LL-c Here is the 'Present' Music for Metallic Madness in the Euro/JPN version. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9eQ1wZWejlY And here is the 'Present' music for Metallic Madness in the US version. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8H1nIBllGDY When you aren't used to the US version, its quite jarring how different they are. |

wow @11 have to agree, should have both. Normaly id disagree with most ppl and say JAP all the way. I only will watch anime in Jap coz the dubs are so bad. But with this music almost sounds like both are trying to emulate each other!! The jap stuff sounds cheezy US rubbish, and the US stuff sounds like Jap, but maybe just not as technicaly as crazy :S hmmm |

@ConfederateSuga (and anyone who cares to take a listen) I found a site where you can listen to both the U.S. and Japanese/European tracks to Sonic CD. They also have the music to the "past" versions of each stage (PCM audio). Sonic CD music: http://www.captainwilliams.co.uk/sonic/sonic16bit/soniccd/soundtrack.php Information on PCM (pulse-code modulation): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulse-code_modulation |

I know it's insanely unlikely, but I REALLY hope they allow a choice of soundtracks. I'm not going to bother saying which is better, all I know is, I want the US one. I'm in the UK, but I had the game on PC, which used the US soundtrack. It's the one I'm used to, it's the one I remember from when I was like, 7 years old. The music is part of the whole nostalgia trip. Knowing my luck, the most they'll do is put the US version in the US game and I'll get stuck with the EU/JP one. Still can't wait, but with the wrong soundtrack, it just won't be as good =( |

@18 Apparently, the reason it only has the EU/JPN version is because of licensing issues with Spencer Nilsen, who did the US soundtrack. Sega is said to be working on finding a solution though. So perhaps it could be made available as DLC (either free or paid) post-release. |

| @25 It doesn't take place between Sonic 4 Ep1 and Sonic 4 Ep2, a SEGA representative said that Sonic CD's place is still unknown but it is supposed to be between Sonic 1 and 2. Sega are calling Sonic CD a prequal to Sonic 4 Ep 2 because of Metal Sonic, seeing how Metal Sonic reapperance has never been explained after the events of Sonic CD |

@#15: No, the game you're thinking of is the 8-Bit (Master System, Game Gear) version of the first Sonic the Hedgehog. The level is called Sky Base. I'm really looking forward to this release of Sonic CD. This is going to be an awesome release with it's true widescreen mode and hopefully online leaderboards for the time attack mode. I'm also hoping for some nice achievements that aren't earned by just playing through the game, like unlocking D.A. Garden, for those who actually remember this secret feature from back in the Mega CD days. As for the soundtrack, I'm happy that I get the soundtrack I'm used to. It's a sad thing for the US people though, not getting their nostalgia kick or even a worldwide selection between both soundtracks. I know how you feel, beeing stuck on the "wrong" soundtrack when I played the Gems Collection. Both soundtracks are good but you'll always prefer the one you're used to. Hopefully they'll release a DLC for the US soundtrack worldwide. Would be a nice addition and if you already have D.A. Garden unlocked this would make the ultimate "Sonic CD Jukebox" |
