Aliens: Colonial Marines

Aliens is a massive movie IP and a labour of love for Gearbox Software's Chief Creative Officer, Brian Martel. So when we sat down in SEGA's booth at Gamescom to chat about the long-gestating Aliens: Colonial Marines, we sought to find out more about the developer's collaboration with 20th Century Fox and concept artist, Syd Mead.

Responsible for much of the Aliens universe's most iconic assets, Syd Mead is on board as a consultant, providing his own concept art to the project to ensure that Colonial Marines - as a true sequel to the 1986 movie, Aliens - at least looks the part.

Check out our interview with Martel to find out more Aliens info, including whether you'll be able to use a power loader, how the movie ties-in to the game and the best way to deal with a horde of xenomorphs. Clue: it involves short controlled bursts. Aliens: Colonial Marines is out in 2012.

	Hope it doesn't do what Duke did, years in dev / making then turns out to be pretty dissapointing. Holding my breath but so far I have to say it looks great! Hope we get a demo for it!

	I think you mean how the game fits into the movies OT...i hope this isnt as disappointing as alien vs predator...alien deserves an epic game after so long

	@3 duke only pretty disappointing ? lies, utter shite... it was until i realised gearbox were making this game that i was going to avoid buying any of their games ever again because of that shit randy cunt face pitchford and his bullshit hype of how good the game was going to be, guess he's either got no taste in games, know fuck all about games or doesn't care about hyping up the biggest sack of shit since king kong's colostomy bag OT: so want this game, not sure what system yet, depends if like all my friends i get banned, i know it's coming, irritatingly, not all my fault, but i let it happen

	@9 you mad?? Jesus... Show me one interview of Pitchford saying duke was going to be an absolutely amazing game? I know he said a few times he was really excited to be working on it and bringing th gaming world the game but even one of the top guys in the producer company said now that DNF is out of the way Gearbox can make the game to their standards. Most of Forever was the work of 3d realms... Calm down haha

	And for the record, duke forever was decent, you just had to know at you were getting into lol..Gearbox has yeti make a game i didn't enjoy at least a bit so even tho I'm not too into Aliens I'm keeping an eye on this game..

	Since playing as a human was the only good part of aliens vs predator this one should be pretty good. I hope anyway.
