Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked Coming to Kinect

Finally! The Kinect game you've all been waiting for is coming! That's right, Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked has been announced today by Majesco Entertainment and developer Behaviour, who will be bringing the all-singing, all-dancing vermin to Kinect with full-body tracking so you can dance along to the eardrum-piercing high-pitched songs from the titular chipmunks and their female counterparts, The Chipettes.

“The Alvin brand has proven to be evergreen with universal awareness and growing appeal,” said Jesse Sutton, CEO Majesco Entertainment. “The extensive customisation and combination of dancing and singing to contagious Chipmunk music will deliver a full-featured experience based on the upcoming movie that the whole family can enjoy together.”

Assuming control of one of The Chipmunks, who you'll know as Alvin, Simon and Theodore, or one of The Chipettes, who you probably won't know as Brittany, Eleanor and Jeanette, you'll be able to sing and dance along to the music, while suffering the humiliation of having your voice "Alvin-ised" as you sing along.

Under development to coincide with the third Chipmunks movie, which is set to release on December 16th, 2011, Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked will be coming to Kinect and asking that you unleash your 'Munk Power' in November 2011.

Jesus christ it's like developers are trying to 1up each other, on who can make the most annoying/pointless kinect game!

Im not telling anyone under the age of 8 that this game exists.

I love how critical people can be that games are apparenltly no longer for kids. If it's not FPS and bullet ridden, it's garbage *smh*.

@ 8 - So, you apparently hang out with 8 year olds?

This must be another one of those "core" games they're designing for Kinect.

@ #11 - Back in my day we played Legend of Zelda, Mega Man, Contra, and Final Fantasy and we liked it! None of this crap about rodents . . . well, except for Rescue Rangers, and that game kicked ass.

"Helium-voiced vermin setting sail later this year." = Best line for x360a ever!

@ 14 - Well, to be fair, we're certainly not kids anymore. I still very much like to ring my own nostalgic bell once in a while. Due to budget cuts and my lack of getting a 3DS, I wound up borrowing a Gamecube and restarted the Zelda series recently (had the Ultimate Collection disc with Zelda 1, 2, Ocarina and Majora as well as dug up my Wind Waker and Twilight Princess). I've only tried a couple things for Kinect and while if anything I give it more credit on "motion controls" than the Wii or Move.

Plus we both know movie licenses have gotten obscenely out of hand. Were this not based off the movies, I'd totally give it a knock but we all know 98% of said licenses are bound to suck/fail.

@ #15 - Funny thing is that I still play Final Fantasy, Mega Man, Zelda, and Contra games. Hooray for emulators and compilation disks.

I didn't get a Kenect because I saw it was just a crappy gimmick, it's all games aimed at small children, or sining/dancing games, or exercise games.
