Final Fantasy VII and IX are my favourite 2 so I'd love to see them have a HD reboot.
I also loved playing the back catalogue as they were ported onto the Playstation, PSP, GBA and DS and would love any of the originals done in HD |

I think everybody is misunderstanding the point.
They're likely only going to give HD releases to FFX and FFXII, the two PS2 games, much the same way as all the other HD re-releases have all been from the last generation.
Giving HD releases to the PS1 games is more like completely remaking them, which I don't think is likely.
Still, I've obtained 1000g on FFXIII and I'd love to do the same on FFX and FFXII. Achievements would give me some real incentive to beat those uber powerful dark Aeons on FFX. |

they are bringing out HD collection versions of metal gears, zone of enders and even silent hill......but this is the one they ain't sure about doing unless the demand for it is high enough???? They should just come out with a box set type deal with all previous ones updated with enhanced graphics. I would happily pay $100. Maybe even throw in like a chocobo figurine/statue. Set the date on the release of the original and call it anniversary edition.

it always makes me sad when game writers mention 7,8 and/or 10 in articles like this.
and makes me smile everytime the comments mention 9. Would love to see a remake, but only if the soundtrack remains intact.

All they need to do is mention HD remakes of FF, not even whether or not they're making them - seriously, just randomly say "Final Fantasy HD remakes" during an interview midsentence - and tons of people will start asking. X, X-2 and XII were utter tosh. I hope to god it's none of the PS2 games.
7,8,9 on the one disc would'nt fit i don't think as together they are about 4.5gb then HD graphics on top of that.

| As #25 Said, they won't be porting any of them other than the PS2 games. Konami has already stated it requires too much work to port PS1 games to Current Gen systems (Which is why MGS isn't in the MGS collection.) The Best you can hope for is a FFX,FFX-2, and FFXII Collection. |

Also what u say makes no sense, seeing as though FF I - VI have no voice acting. I think most ppl would be extremely happy with a graphical enhancement of the earlier games with achievements. If a game is already epic, why would you want to change everything about it?
Think of all the crappy film remakes at the moment- that is exactly what u don't want to happen with these classic games. |

Well, if these games were on a menu, I'll take a large order VIII, X, a medium VII, with a side of IX.
But if you're telling me that not enough people are clamoring for this, (i.e. - the same people who are your fan base that got you to where you are today) and you can't fulfill all of that and I can only choose one, then I'll take VIII.
I would commit illegal acts to play that entire 80+ hour game with voice acting. That was the title that brought me to this franchise. |

I find very hard to beleive that there was more of a demand to remake a FF on a gameboy or DS then for consoles. They just released 6 on the Wii. High enough demand my ass. It is a goldmine and a no brainer. The fact they are considering though is more news about this then we have heard is years. : )

Methinks all you need to do Webb is show them the instant reaction to this article - there is your "strong enough voice" - gamers willing to fork out hard cash for polished nostalgic gaming.
I do like the idea of a box set anthology though - maybe with some recent releases polished up into HD and the older titles just released as they were? |

| Having never owned a Playstation until the PS3 I would love to see these games come out for Xbox. I enjoyed XIII (from what I've gathered from friends, that's probably because I'd never played the good ones) and would definitely pick this collection up and finally get to enjoy them. |

| I agree with just about everyone. I know fans have been demanding a remake of FFVII since the PS2 days (the PS3 tech demo only turned the few flames there were into a full-blown conflagration) and you know people are clamoring for HD revisions of just about every other title in the series. I think they should stop moving forward for right now (in numbers, because XIV apparently bombed) and remake all the older titles to reintroduce them to the current generation. I've never played the first five or six FF titles because, having started with FFVII, I could never go back to playing with those dated 2D/16-bit graphics. I was spoiled on 3D graphics and world maps. I absolutely LOVED Chrono Trigger though - and I played Chrono Cross first, which sort of strikes down my earlier statement. At any rate, HD is the way to be. I also want to add to the collection of voices demanding intel on Kingdom Hearts III and Chrono Break. When and will they happen, Square? |

| Final Fantasy VI would happen to be my top priority! I've beaten that game so many times, of course VII, VIII, IX, and X would be AMAZING!!!!! I would love to see the opera scene with fully orchestrated music and upgraded visuals, as well as tracking down and fighting all the dragons or climbing the tower of Kefka or the floating island.... I'm sure you get the idea by now, I love Final Fantasy VI and I think it deserves it the most!!!! |

This won't include the PS1 FF games. That's what the PS1 classics are for. Plus, you can't just up-res a game like FF7. They would have to go back and upgrade ALL the pre-rendered backgrounds from scratch. The blocky character models would hold up even worse than they already do. Same things apply to 8 and 9.
They're not going to commit any resources to making a half-assed FF7 HD upgrade when they could just commit those resources to a full blown remake.
If this collection happens, it will very likely include 10, 10-2, and 12. It will be just like all other HD collections. Higher resolution, widescreen support, and achievements.
Don't get your hopes up for the PS1 games. It's just completely unfeasible. |

| This would be awesome if it was 1-9. They have made updated versions of most of the 1-6 collection on other platforms so it stands to reason that an HD version of those wouldn't be a huge stretch. As long as I am not forced to buy anything after 9 in the collection I will pick it up day one.(10 forward were absolute trash, once they eliminated actual exploring I lost interest, and don't get me started on the travesty that was blitzball) |

To be honest it makes me worry when Square Enix/Soft is only "considering if demands are high enough". They should have thought about making remakes of the FF series for xbox a long time ago. I've seen so many blogs/thrads/forums/news about remaking an old Final Fantasy with no result and these request are all over the web.
How much more do we have to nag? |

I'd say I-IX since X and onwards are already pretty nice looking on the PS2. A trilogy for I-III and IV-VI would be nice. I'd especially love to see IX in HD with achievements.

| I'd love to get 1-9 remade for 360, but honestly, I don't really care if they weren't HD. Just put the originals up on Arcade, I'll buy the lot. |

this would be amazing, all PSX games remade into HD would be the perfect gift to all the fans, those were the best ones of the lot and im sure a lot of people would agree with me.
remake them for the fans! |

| I say they need to make a FF7 HD remake (with 1,000 gamerscore available) and port Trigger as it was on the Nintendo DS but brought to XBLA (with 200 gamerscore). |
