Dead Block Bringing Undead Strategy to XBLA Next Week

Zombie defence game, Dead Block will be coming to the Xbox Live Arcade in the first week of July, Digital Reality and developer Candygun Games have today announced, bringing humour-filled strategy and tactics, as you protect your territory from undead hordes transformed by the evil of rock 'n' roll music.

Set in 1950s America, Dead Block is a cartoon-style tactical defence game that will task you with building barricades to prevent the zombies from getting to you, while you can 'rock the dead' with a variety of quirky weapons and traps like the cardboard trap, the microwave trap and jets of cold air that freeze zombies so you can smash them into pieces.

“We’re a huge fan of zombies, but we’re even bigger fans of finding the most creative ways of disposing of the undead buggers,” said Balazs Horvath, Director of Publishing of Digital Reality. “Dead Block has been a dream project of ours, and we’re elated to finally unleash it upon the world.”

Playing as construction worker Jack Foster, meter maid Foxy Jones and greedy boy scout Mike Bacon, you'll band together to fight the undead, boarding up windows, setting traps, collecting items and power ups and slaughtering zombies with each character's 'smart bomb' move, an array of weapons or the awesome power of the electric guitar.

Dead Block will be bringing drop-in/drop-out co-op gameplay to the Xbox Live Arcade when it launches on July 6th for 800 Microsoft Points. Check out the 'Zombie Elimination' trailer below for a look at some of the traps and weapons on offer.

	This could go either way I think. I always feel stuff like this just needs a ton of characters to pick from, not just three. But we shall see, looks abit like team fortress (IMO)

	@5 It's 10 bucks and it's out next week. Where as Dead Island is 60$ and is out in September. Not to mention how completely different games they are.

	How am I supposed to protect myself without plants? I think this genre of game should be reclassified as "Training Programs." When the zombie apocolypse happens, will you know how to handle that chainsaw on a stick? I will.

	@ 4 - I just need something to tide me over until Zombie Apocalypse 2 drops. First one was, sadly, too fast enjoyed but I'd love to jump back on it. Seven Days In Hell was the greatest comical grind ever. Especially since we duped our buddy thinking he missed out on it.

	@10 Are you an idiot? CoD invented shit, Zombie games have been around for years, but Resident Evil was the first truely good zombie game IMO. Not too interested in this, probably try the demo but thats it.

	@10 Zombie Zombie was the first Zombie video game. CoD "incorporated" zombies into a wave after wave of enemy styl play with is nothing new to video games. HALO ODST has Firefight, CoD has Zombies, GoW has Horde, but look up a game like Smash TV and you'll start to understand CoD isnt revolutionary as you think!

	@ 17 - It was one of those few games that felt like it never ended! Like Jaws. I literally beat Jaws 10 times in a row and oddly enough, it did get harder and harder (giggidy) but the same 3 levels over and over do take their toll. Metroid was the only other infinitely continuing game to be as popular. I remember getting up to the 80 levels with friends after a long weekend grind.

	Looks good in the trailer and on the paper. But hope It will really be a good game. And for the COD commentary, yes you're right, COD is the one who has invented video games too.

	@ 20 - Wow! I never thought I'd hear anyone else use that phrasing. I've said that about so many movies/games/etc. Slight debate with my aunt about why Tom Cruise is in such hit or miss blockbusters. Some things, look/sound amazing on paper (Transformers 2??) and it all depends on who's at the helm.

	hmmmmm although this one has been on my wish list for a while I just bought Trenched and I don't want to buy another tower defense like game untill I complete this one. I'll be looking for playthrough videos in the mean time

	I still got my L4D on my game shelf(which is a hell of alot better than L4D2 btw), so I don't really need this. Besides I only stick to one XBLA game, and thats Duke Nukem 3D! P.S. Everyone has it all wrong! CoD invented guns and bullets. Oh, and war. WWII and Vietnam just copied CoD. @33, Probably because of your immature comments and bad grammar. 	Looks like you could have some fun with this, enjoyed Plants Vs Zombies and like the thought of 2 player options. It's a nice simple version of horde and like the idea of bunkering down and fending off the Zombie mass. Nice idea with Traps and such alike, think it can only add to the fun playing with a friend. Will down load and give a go.

	Thank god for the Demo, I downloaded the thing, played it and after the tutorial and the first quest got bored :( I am not saying that is a bad game but between This one and Trenched I like the last one better. Is just my opinion and the kind of games that I like. That Guitar hero thing, didn't quite got it. I'll try it again in the future but for now I'll keep my hands off of it.
