E3 2011: Tomb Raider Demoed on Stage During Microsoft Presser

Crystal Dynamics have just left the Microsoft E3 presser stage after showing off a bunch of gameplay footage for the Tomb Raider reboot. Blimey, it looks good.

The demo opened with Lara suspended upside down, wrapped in a caccoon of what looked like bandages. Swinging from side to side she was able to light her trappings by bumping into a some flames, sending her crunching to the floor.

She then had to yank a splintery bit of wood from her side in a QTE event. They weren't joking when they said this one was going to be grittier.

There were more QTEs throughout the demo as her mystery enemy grasped at her ankles.

Later, after spluttering her way through flooded tunnels, Lara was able to use a Arkham Asylum-style Detective Vision. This enabled her to identify the tools needed to work out the puzzles in the game. Cool.

After doing just that to send a flaming cart bashing through a closed gate, our favourite British adventurer climbed to the top, only to emerge just seconds before the tunnel collapsed.

Coming out at the top of a cliff, the scene that greeted her was familiar from the screenshots. Wrecked ships, both old and new, littered the shore.

It looks pretty amazing.

We'll have more on Tomb Raider later in the week. You are welcome to channel all of your hatred towards Dan and Rich, who are there right now.

Can't wait for this to drop. Love the new route their taking and can't wait to see what's in store for lil' Lara as well as where the series can go from here.
Just please no lame boob jokes or "optional enhancements". It's been too long for Lara to finally grow up. Maybe some of the fans will too at a point.

Only reason she can even be in contention to be our favorite British adventurer is because The Doctor is technically from Gallifrey. If we can count him, no one else comes close.

I watched the play through live and damn me this is a very nice looking game. Even has a dash of innovative game play to it as well. I'm definitely keeping an eye on this one!

Video looks great. Wasn't really excited for this at all until seeing the trailer. Really looks like it will have a gritty feel to it that the series has desperately needed. Hopefully the combat holds up well.

Also I think the voice actress has done a great job even if Lara moans more than any female not in a porno should, but the British accent is pretty spot on in my opinion.

Was a huge fan of the original on the PS1 so will definitely be looking forward to seeing more of this!

This may be one of my favorite games of all times. I hope all the cut scenes are as good as the trailers

I was going to add this to my wishlist, but I don't want Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. Busy day at x360a, I guess.

Anyway, I can't wait for this game. I still need to 100% Anniversary and Underworld, but I'll get there hopefully before this reboot drops. The new direction is interesting, and as the first TR game under the Square Enix umbrella, I'm hoping for a cameo of a chocobo.

When watching it, I actually though it would be pretty cool with sixaxis, so I might strya for this installment and go with PS3 version if such support is present in the game:-)
