| I have played TES: IV a couple of "100" times and I really hope Skyrim makes you ant to do that like oblivion did. I didn't feel that urge to play as many different characters in Fallout 3 and New Vegas (even if it's a different game with a different world it still shares a lot of similar features). But now that the Khajiit's actually looks good I think I will try out every single race and pick up every single achievement. This is probably the last game I will ever buy (just kidding, but seriously...) |

Bethesda sucks. I read the comments here, and it seems that the major part of people here, "elder scrolls fans" have only played Oblivion. Bethesda dumbs elder scrolls down only for you, casual suckers. You should have played Morrowind. This game was superior in many, many ways. Anyway, they fucked pretty much with Elder Scrolls when they released Oblivion, that game was dumbed down in every way even possible. And it looks like Skyrim will continue this. And all this only because bethesda cares for your casual sucker who have no idea more than for us, true, Elder Scrolls loving fans who were there since Daggerfall or Morrowind. It's a shame. I am not saying that Skyrim is going to suck, it will be great of course, but it COULD have been so much better if Bethesda wasn't retarded. There, I said what lots of people on many different forums said before me, and everyone knows its true. Everyone who knows Morrowind at least. Of course not you, casual suckers. |

Did he just NOT answer the question about getting the whole game on 1 disc? Also, people that played Oblivion and not Morrowind, and enjoyed it a lot, should they not be entitled to a new game they enjoy too? Having played Morrowind before does NOT make you better. Think you are NOT a casual sucker? Well, think again. You are. |

@35, yes, they've already said, all races return. @38, Grow up yout petulant little child. I DID play Morrowind, and Arena and Daggerfall too, and you know what? Bethesda doesn't 'dumb down' their games, they take what works, strips what doesn't and try new things, and kudos to them for trying. With every game there is always whiny little bitches like you complaining because the new game isn't the last game, or their favourite game. People still bitch the Morrowind wasn't Daggerfall 2, people still bitch that Oblivion wasn't Morrowind, and I have no doubt idiots will bitch that Skyrim isn't Oblivion, or Morrowind or Daggerfall. No, you're right, it's not, it is its own game. Are you going to sit there and cry because they've stripped out useless skills and redesigned their levelling interface? What you call dumbing down I call putting the game into the hands of the player. What you fail to realise is that games have changed. In the past RPG's needed extensive numbers of stats and skills to represent what the player was trying to achieve, but now game engines can accurately reproduce a lot of it in real time action, so the need for these skills is gone. You can call it dumbing down all you like, but having played all the ES games, I'll take an engine where I can build my character to my preference, tweak him to excel where I like, then go out and control him myself, I'll take the engine that lets me enter into a well simulated world and choose what to do, who to fight, and how to do it. Of course if you prefer just standing still waving your weapon through the air in the name 'true Elderscrolls' or whatever, then by all means, you stay in the dark ages, moron. |

@47 + 48 you really need to get a girlfriend/boyfriend, although possibly the former as all the screenshots are male? I've never understood the "ZOMG this game makes me so hard I just came" mindset, this is a gaming site not *insert free streaming porn site*.com. Sure this game has potential to be fantastic but there is no need to be so graphic about it..... @38 that's your opinion, I had never played any ES games prior to Oblivion and I think it's one of the best gaming experiences I've had. Sure it wasn't fiddly but that's why I enjoyed it so much, micromanaging is dull when it's too messy (Dragon Age for example) but when it's done correctly it's brilliant (Mass effect 1). At least they don't seem to be going the route of bioware and removing every element that made the predecessor fun and unique. @43 That's just bullshit dude, ask him which team he supports then say "Your not a proper fan because you haven't seen every single game they played", games aren't like movies where we can watch 1-4 in a day, most games especially RPGs need weeks minimum to immerse yourself in them! On topic: As long as the assassins guild is back with a better way of making me feel like the boss I'm happy! The arena too, that was great, the fan.....not so much! |

I was a huge fan of Morrowind, but Oblivion just left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Really hoping Skyrim fixes a lot of the things that weren't great ideas (scaled leveling/enemy equipment and everyones amazing ability to know that apple was stolen on the other side of the world). Kind of worried they completely ignored the question about the discs though, since this isn't the type of game where once you hit this story related part, put in disc 2. I'm fine with disc swapping as long as it's not required to do it 50 times whenever I pass an invisible disc swap barrier and whatnot. Regardless can't wait to see more. |

Oh, the poor little kids who've only ever played Oblivion and actually think it was awesome and that Skyrim will be too. Oblivion was a hand-holding fantasy FPS for morons who were weaned on FF VII who cried like babies any time a game didn't tell them what to do every fucking second, not an RPG. Morrowind was better than it in every way. Oh look, another generic grassy area with wolves in it. Oh, what's that? A band of petty thieves all decked out in epic glass and daedric armor because of Oblivion's shitty scaling system. Woohoo, another identical Oblivion gate that looks exactly the same and is filled with the same enemies as the very first one in the fucking game! z0mg this is teh greatest rpg evar!!!1! You know what real fans of the Elder Scrolls series were playing before this bullshit came along? We were slaying fucking GODS while dealing with insane wizards who lived in 10-story mansions made out of giant mushrooms they fucking conjured into existence, stricken with a plague that was consuming our souls while we recovered ancient tools of power that would fucking kill anyone who touched them unless they were a reincarnation of the divine champion of an entire fucking continent. Thanks for co-opting OUR game after bitching endlessly about how "hard" Morrwind was on the original Xbox and proving to Bethesda that "Appealing to the lowest common denominator gives you license to PRINT FUCKING MONEY," and ruininng this series and Fallout while you were at it. |

| #72 You should have seen speed and jumping in Morrowind. You could run really fast there, no comparison to Oblivion. And same with jumping. Now they are taking it all away, dumbing it down. Too bad except for maybe #71(not sure if troll) nobody here realises that. And then all the people with empty space in their heads instead of a brain cry about my posts, because they are simply not smart enough to realize how dumbed down Oblivion was and Skyrim is most likely going to be. I don't even want to argue with all the small mindet freaks here, its like talking to a wall. |

Seriously, you're trying to dismiss it as "geek rage"? News flash: you're a geek. A huge fucking geek. Everyone on this site is. You're posting about video games on a video game site dedicated to helping people obsessed with completing every single achievement in a given game. You are a geek, now get the fuck over yourself. |

So funny when you read all the comments here :) People bitching about Morrowind being better than Oblivion. Why don't you let people decide for themselves? ;) If you thought Morrowind was better, so be it, but don't force your vision on other players. Let them decide for themselves what is better, instead of calling them dumb players, and immature. My guess is that you're the immature ones. |

@71,75,77, and all other trolls: No-one gives a shit whether Morrowind was better than Oblivion. The world has moved on, buddy. If you want to keep playing Morrowind, be my guest and go live in the past, playing on an out-dated game. Just don't bother the people living in reality by trolling. Not everyone here are geeks either; I just want advice on how to get achievements, so I can get my money's worth out of a game. You and all you're friends who are trying to force your opinions down people's throats are the 'geeks'. Some people like Oblivion more than Morrowind, and are actually excited about Skyrim. Everyone has an opinion. Now get over it. |

@78 and 81: Thank You! No one really cares if Morrowind is better than Oblivion. I personally don't. I never played Morrowind, but i don't need to play it to know it has its flaws, just like Oblivion has its flaws. I do agree that Oblivion is a little "dummed down" or simpler, concerning that the arrow on your compass told you exactly where to go without any thinking, which in my opinion takes you away from the game a bit, but i am mature enough to deal with it and still have fun and play it for countless hours. But i hope it gives you a choice to let it tell you where to go or let you do it yourself, so it appeals to BOTH audiences. If it doesn't do that, i will still buy Skyrim on its release because I (key word I) think its going to be an awesome game. Bethesda likes to try new things, which comes with trial and error, which means that there games will have flaws just like any other video game. Bethesda isn't stupid or dumb. They listen to their audience. Like you, PrinceOfThralls, you changed your statement into an immature insult. If you put your opinion in a nicer, more mild way, then that's great. Those are the kind of opinions people (and me) like. If you can't get that through your thick skull, then you will have a hard time in life Again PrinceOfThralls, you are right however that this argument is like talking to a wall, but its like a wall talking to a wall, because neither side can understand one another which onto the huge topic causes wars. but that's not what we are talking about. So you are not the only on at fault, but some of the others that are arguing against you. One side states an opinion, and the other side think their opinion is better. Or one side stated an opinion in a rude, mean, or wrong way, and the other side tries to justify that. In this case, that's what most people are doing. They don't want ignorant little trolls in their thread. So let us leave this pointless, immature argument to an end, and get back onto this thread's ORIGINAL TOPIC. The topic was not Morrowind OR Oblivion. It's SKYRIM. So talk about that.If anything compare Skyrim to another game (ex. Oblivion or Morrowind), don't start another topic. So on topic i think this is some cool new info, and great new screenshot(s) (don't remember if there were 1 or 2 new ones) 11.11.11 FTW! so many games coming out this November! Skyrim is a must have for me. P.S.Thank you so much if you actually read all this :) |

@38 I never played morrowind cause I can never find it, but I am getting it soon. How can oblivion be a dumbed down game? It was pretty complicated to level a character right. Maybe morrowind was better, but your arguement basically says "morrowind was the best, but sky rim will still be awesome." Not sure what you were doing other than talking down to everyone @71 this was a great read. I love how you refer to everyone who liked oblivion more than morrowind as the "lowest common denominator". That is just plain ignorance. Just because you have been a fan since dagger fall or arena doesn't make you better than everyone. I wish I had an xbox when morrowind came out because I have heard praises for it, but I didn't. Oblivion was a great game, but it had flaws. Sure it told you where to go, which I personally hated, but did you ever notice that thing called a difficulty slider? It made the game a much bigger challenge and a lot more fun. It actually made you think what you should do to win a fight, not just run in sword out and swinging. Bethesda is not giving the game to the lowest common denominator, they are making a more enjoyable game for everyone, while trying to keep those rpg roots. My message to everyone: 1. Play oblivion 2. Play morrowind, I know I cam gonna try to 3. Play nice on the forums to avoid sounding like a conceited idiot, if you have your opinion you can state it without being condescending |

| I loved Oblivion personally. Had hundreds of hours on that game, and did everything possible. And I will admit, I did not play much Morrowind. I played a little at my friends house and I just couldn't get into it. But i'm not saying that Oblivion is better, I just enjoyed it more. So what previous posts are saying is that if I have an opinion, im a casual sucker? Sorry for thinking for myself. |

@86 Play Morrowind and you'll see why Oblivion is a dumbed-down shadow of the previous game made to appeal to the lowest common denominator. I'm not talking about the game's difficulty, I'm talking about every aspect of the gameplay experience. The world in Oblivion is dumbed down from Morrowind: in TES III, the continent was made up of marshy coastlands, unexplored islands, rolling grasslands, strange magical mushroom forests, ash deserts, mountains, volcanoes, huge cities that each looked unique, etc; in Oblivion, everything is a generic fantasy setting, with identical looking towns, identical fields and forests, and identical dungeons. Bethesda even said they did this on purpose, creating a very generic high-fantasy setting to make people feel more familiar who were lost in Morrowind. The quests and guild system are dumbed down in Oblivion: in Morrowind, many of the guilds' membership ended up pitting you against other guilds on the continent. You couldn't join every single guild and end up completing every quest because often you had factional conflicts between them, including quests that set off huge fights between members of different guilds. In addition, there were skill requirements to each guild as well as three different great houses to join that would seriously influence your interaction with NPCs in different areas of the game world, as each house held influence over different towns and areas. In Oblivion, it doesn't matter what class you are or what skills you have, you can join every single guild in the game and become master of all of them. Honestly, discussing the vast complexity of Morrowind in comparison to how simple and disappointing Oblivion was would take pages. Play the game yourself and see how much was lost. Get it for the PC if you can, there's a mod out there that updates the graphics, sound, and music to the quality of current-gen games. |

| I did not like the answer about achievements. I hate those kind of achievements. They're boring and unoriginal. Not to mention the achievement for going to jail. I had a good track record in Oblivion for not going to jail by either being a good enough criminal to avoid being caught or for using the vast profits of looting and crime to pay for any accidental crime I may have committed. |

@88 there are geeks and there are geeks, I never said I wasn't, I'm a self proclaimed geek, however, I refrain from raging because a game has streamlined to become more accessible to new/casual players (refer to post #50). Look at Operation flashpoint, different game from the first, disappointing to 'veterans' of the series like myself, yet I accept it there is nothing I can do other than make my own game, geek raging gets me nothing other than to look like an idiot. If I did want to have the operation flaspoint experience I wouldplay it on the pc again, the game is supported with numerous mods that improve every element of the outdated series, I suggest you do the same. A final note is this: Why oh why, if you hate a game or the way a series has headed would you rage on the news? Use the forums to start a flame war, that way I know what I'll be reading . |

This may sound like an odd concern but the only thing I'm really looking to hear this E3 about Skyrim is wether or not books will be like how they were in Morrowind. Where it was a real freakin' book. With plenty of lore in it. And you could see references to weapons that may or may not have been in your inventory at the time that you read it. Then when you find it your like whoa thats cool! Morrowind you got exp based on flipping through the pages. Some people didn't like that but those same people didn't take time to actually read the books. The one thing that would make Skyrim special to me is if the books were actual books again. So I could waste hours and hours and hours just getting deep into the lore again. Plus its pretty cool how much fan fic was taken and added into Morrowind for the books and special weapons. |

@99+Others Thanks lol I'm glad some people read my comment and realised how the trolls on this can never win, all they can do is moan about how bad they think the new games are and how totally awesome the bloody decade-year-old games are. If you think you can beat Bethesda, go and make your own remake of Oblivion and start developing a Skyrim that can appease both the hardcore and casual gamers, plus the ones in between (me!). And what's this about Bethesda making the games appealing to the highest denominator? Sorry, but I'm a pretty serious gamer but the sheer amount of things to do and items to collect in Oblivion gave me a headache. So how are they appealing to the 'highest denominator'? It's not like they're trying to get the average CoD player to buy the game! And then there are people saying how they're just out to fill their pockets with money... well of course they are, that's the whole point of developing and selling a game... I'd definately want a lot of bloody money after developing a game for FIVE years. If you think Bethesda are just money-grabbers then have a look at Activision... Anyway rant over, the point is that haters and trolls can stop whinging and take their comments someone else, because their not wanted here. |
