Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Preview – Deadfest at Tiffany’s

“Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and “Wall Street” are both often held as classic pieces of cinema for their time. What happens though when you take the beloved stages for those stories, throw in a bunch of Russian invaders with guns and get Michael Bay on board to direct a John Milius screenplay based there? You get Modern Warfare 3, that’s for sure, and Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer’s sequel is looking to pull no punches this coming November. They lost their “biggest entertainment launch ever” crown to Black Ops last year and they want it back. It doesn’t get any more straightforward than that.

I know what you’re thinking, “Yes, we’ve seen the foreign occupation of America before in Homefront,” but in Modern Warfare 3, the foreign occupation is everywhere... even France! At a recent unveiling in London, IW’s Robert Bowling and Sledgehammer’s Glenn Schofield took to the stage to show off two different levels of the sequel to the 2009 smash hit. Although we got to get a glimpse at London and New York – and we know we’re heading to France and Germany too – Bowling also revealed that we can expect to head to Russia, Africa and the Himalayas as well. Get those passports at the ready.

Picking up directly after the events of Modern Warfare 2, we join Sandman and his Delta Team as they head into the foreign occupied New York city – specifically Wall Street – in a mission called, “Black Tuesday.” It’s your typical combat-orientated Call of Duty mission, with explosions, reams of soldiers to plough through and decimation around every corner. How it differs though is quite easily its setting. Crysis 2 may have done a fine job of destroying New York in its epic sci-fi campaign, but there’s something more terrifying about watching buildings tumble and debris drop from the surrounding iconic locations from the perspective of a normal crew of soldiers. Even rolling through various unknown buildings that’ve seen better days with collapsed floors and downed choppers encased in them is a pleasure.

Moving down toward the New York Stock Exchange, it’s clear that Infinity Ward have put extra care into carving out these traditional Call of Duty moments in more familiar settings – you know, not some random cave or field in Outer Mongolia. In the first 10 minutes alone, we see the Delta squad fight its way toward the Stock Exchange, engaging in intense close quarters combat inside Tiffany’s, rallying the support of a convoy of APCs outside a Western National Bank which we assume is on Broad Street, brushing shoulders with the exterior of the Crown Building and then fighting at the base of the huge US flag of the mission’s final destination: the Stock Exchange building. It’s iconic stuff.

Granted, I might not have much of a knowledge of guns these days – the judge told me to drop that fascination after that incident with an air-rifle and the anus of my next door neighbour’s cat – but it looked like Infinity Ward were not only flicking scopes on the fly depending on the range of their target, but they’d also included a few new weapons – one acting like a grenade launcher of sorts with huge explosions, even bigger splash damage and high-velocity projectiles that rarely show any signs of slowing down or dipping below their original trajectory. Other than that though, it was the usual array of red-dot scoped assault rifles that took on the majority of the action. A quick refill of ammo in the lobby of the Stock Exchange and our fearless crew were fighting amongst the ticker machines and screens of the main floor of the Stock Exchange. Infinity Ward may have had many familiar locations like this before – like in COD4 for instance – but none quite as iconic as the NYSE.

From there the battle took to the Stock Exchange roof, with the Delta squad tasked with taking down a satellite mast that’s acting as a jammer for the occupying forces. In typical Call of Duty style though, the squad are asked to clear the area for a friendly chopper, enlisting the help of a Reaper Drone to blast the legions of enemy soldiers on various other rooftops to smithereens – presented in thermal vision and takes the form of user controlled missiles. After using the Reaper Drone to take down an enemy bird that comes on the scene, we find our main man jumping into a friendly Blackhawk to take position at a gun emplacement to mow down enemy soldiers and enemy choppers that appear on the scene. With Hinds coming in left, right and centre, each of them plucked out the sky with relative ease, we’re left watching the Blackhawk dance around a newly constructed building skeleton with an enemy bird in its sights before taking in the huge explosion that comes as a result of the steady aim of the man on the chain gun. The first stage of the demo ends with a chopper collision that sees the Delta squad’s pilot nearly dice with death, before pulling out of a potentially sticky situation and fleeing to safety.

The next mission, “Mind the Gap,” is one of Call of Duty’s traditional covert ops missions… well, at least it starts out that way! So from New York in the day, a city smoldering at the hands of the Russians, we head to the docks in Canary Wharf, London, under he cover of night, sneaking through back alley after back alley, silently disposing of any guard who happens to be unlucky enough to cross their path. From a Brit’s standpoint, I have to say that London didn’t have the same unique feel to it like New York did and if it wasn’t for One Canada Square’s iconic glowing peak in the skyline, you’d be hard pressed to pinpoint where in the world it was, yet alone the UK. We assume that’ll change as we get into more iconic locations, but if there’s one thing that the London and New York level showed us, it’s that although Modern Warfare 3 isn’t a huge graphical step up over its predecessor, it does boast some much improved textures.

A familiarly voiced solider, which sounded suspiciously like Gaz, accompanies the soldiers as all hell breaks loose and the team blow their cover by diving out a series of second floor windows. If that hadn’t have blown their cover, the assisting attack chopper surely would have, and the teams look to take down and search a series of trucks that were holed up in the dock area. It’s your traditional high-intensity, fast-paced shooter action from here on out as hostiles flood the area with the odd-scripted moment of chaos thrown in for good measure – like an explosion taking out a stack of pipes on the far hand side. After searching one of the trucks the hostiles begin to flee and the covert ops team are tasked with chasing down their targets into a nearby Tube station.

The majority of the London sequence, ironically enough, took place underground in the Tube tunnels – or subway tunnels to any non-Londoner. It’s another trademark Call of Duty cinematic set-piece that sees the covert ops squad throw two fingers up at being stealthy and chase down a train in a couple of jeeps. It’s an on-rails section that has more cheap thrills and explosions than a U2 concert and ends with the typical “Uh oh” moment – something that’s best experienced and not spoiled by these here words. You can expect everything though, from close calls and racing through a crowded Tube station, to drama and lots of loud noises and explosions. It won’t disappoint.

More of the same and then some seems to be Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer’s approach with the sequel then, but this time with a more urban warfare edge to it than ever before. So that’s more explosions, more soldiers to plough down than ever before, more crazy set-pieces, more action, more iconic locations and possibly more importantly, more helicopters than you could possibly imagine. Watch out, it’s like a helicopter graveyard out there! They were everywhere!

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is scheduled for a November 8th release.

  • It happens every year... I am very excited for this! I hope the campaign is more robust this time around, I prefer that to the multiplayer. Because I suck at it. ;)
  • Excited for this!
  • cool (: shame there wasn't a video though
  • Obligatory Spongebob parody. WHO LIVES IN A MANSION FINANCED BY YOUR GAMES BOBBY KOTICK WITH HORNS ON HIS FOREHEAD AND SURROUNDED BY FLAMES? BOBBY KOTICK HIS COMPANY’S REHASHES FLOODING YOUR STORE BOBBY KOTICK HE ASKS FOR YOUR WALLET; HE’S ASKING FOR MORE BOBBY KOTICK BOBBY KOTICK BOBBY KOTICK BOBBY KOTICK BOBBYYYYYY KOTIIIIIIIIICK!!
  • I didn't get Black Ops last year, so I'm craving for some new multiplayer. Might have to pick this up if they reveal at least some of the multiplayer.
  • @4 -Genius! lol :) MW3 should be awesome, I just want single plyr, I get bored with multiplayer after a couple of hours. Looking forward to 4 player spec-ops though!
  • Sadly I don't think they will be getting their title (biggest entertainment launch) back... We'll see.
  • shit Gaz is a live ???? or just the actor doing a nother voice over? Also for more info on the trialer I suggest people check out Ign's rewind theater on MW3.
  • @6 agreed with you, I prefer single player more than mp I want to see makarov in action :P
  • MW2 was awesome... Regardless of what anyone says.... But this looks just.... Epic!!!
  • It's another CoD game. I don't expect any more or any less than before. I'll buy it, love it, hate it, sell it, and buy it again. November 2012 time to rinse and repeat.
  • To be honest, this doesn't excite me at all. It is the same thing since Modern Warfare one, renamed as three, and added the WW3 thing. I may just be jumping to conclusions right away, but hell, not even a graphics improvement? Even THE DEFAULT RADIO VOICE is the same from CoD4. Battlefield 3, for instance, is set to revamp the whole experience, from the graphics, to the gameplay istelf. Yes, the game might be fun at some points, but Call of Duty has always lacked realism in their stories (excluding the first ones). Come on, a EMP in SPACE that stopped every single electronic device on EARTH? THROWING a knife at your enemy while you're stabbed in your abdomen? Not even McGyver. It would have hurt me more if only I had to pay the full price; thank you GameStop used games. If I am completely wrong, then this will be one hell of a fight between the two game-makers, which I really want, since it will make competition more interesting.
  • I forgot all about Gaz.lol
  • Sounds Like more of the same.... But we all knew that already, and to be honest, I really don't care, I'll be buying it regardless :)
  • Sounds good so far! Over the top action and explosions is always good! But I think that Battlefield could take the crown this year, as so far its looks very impressive. They just need to work on the multiplayer though.
  • Looks great and sounds sweet. Looking forward to it.
  • @4 You ingenious man you. :)
  • @#8 - Well, it certainly sounded like him... It was Craig Fairbrass, that's for sure, but if he's voicing another character, his range sucks =P
  • @18. He was Gaz in the first game, Ghost in the 2nd and in this one he'll be Grave. Because that's where he got left.
  • Good Shit.
  • Cool, there's only one problem.. Battlefield 3 is out 4 days before!
  • Loved CoD4, enjoyed MW2, bovcotted Black Ops. Definite purchase for me, cheap thrills, generic fps play, skill-less reflex shooter MP. And I'll fuckin' love it. Battlefield 3 will mean more to me than this, but I just couldnt let my games library miss out.
  • No Ghost then? He was pretty bad-ass. They are right, occupied USA has been done, here's hoping the other locations can make it interesting again.
  • Every year... Just like Madden!
  • Just please don't have endlessly respawning enemies....this is not good game design! I didn't just kill 40 baddies to have 80 more take their place!
  • I get why people might not like Bobby Kotick...but seriously get over it...he's just a good businessman who has turned his company into the biggest in the world, supported by the biggest gaming series in the world. People might not like his business outlook or perhaps see him as a bit of a mercenary, or maybe have a problem with COD itself...but if you loathe him or COD that much....buy Battlefield or Gears come Autumn. I admit I'm personally suffering from a bit of COD fatigue myself, and I'm getting quite bored of Black Ops, but I personally can't wait to see what happens in MW3, especially to Makarov. P.S. Bring in unranked playlists i.e. Mike Myers!!! Would. Be. Sensational. :)
  • Cant wait!
  • @ 26, get on with your revision and stop trying to start Call of duty Forum warfare :D Can't wait for this game, so far it looks fantastic!
  • Was it ever explained why Ghost wore a mask? It doesn't really make sense he's hiding how he looks if none of his team mates are as well. He died in MW2 so there was no big secret to be carried on in this one, it just seems like he was a gimmick for MW2. Sounds pretty good.
  • sweet
  • @ 4 does it turn you on to say his name so much? stfu and don't buy the game if you don't like it!
  • I dont like the cove art :S
  • @23 Ghost was shot in the Head by Makarov in the Story Mode, He certainly wont be back...Will miss him though =(
  • @32 Im with you.. Not sure if its the plain white or the plain black guy. I think i could deal with the plain black if they changed the guy up.. Its also weird not seeing "Modern Warfare".. O well just a cover
  • " the judge told me to drop that fascination after that incident with an air-rifle and the anus of my next door neighbour’s cat" lol this is the awesome humour that I love from you guys. Anyway I am looking forward to this, I just hope the missions are along as I don't want to spend like 2 short missions in one of the countries then never see it again. There better be a MW4, there is no way you can fit the entire WWIII into one 15 mission game.
  • welcome back Gaz...this might be what the Homefront campaign could have been.
  • This game can go two ways for me personally. Firstly, the campaign i will enjoy, all COD games i have really enjoyed their campaigns so not too worried about that. I think it's the multiplayer that will make or BREAK this game. Show me some MP features, how it's going to play, things that will make it a great multiplayer. But to save this game IW & SH need to have some sort of security on their MP. MW2 was completely ruined and i passionately hate the MP for that game because of it's dreadful hackers and noob-orientated gameplay. I will get this game, campaign will be great, but to hold onto the game will solely be down to its multiplayer.
  • @37 Hacking can be prevented. But unfortunately you will get people who behave like idiots no matter how well you program the game.
  • Hopefully, I won't be playing much of the Multiplayer and all the achievements are single player only.
  • Another CoD where people hack to top prestige, glitch games and leaderboards, take the fun out of the game by playing it 16 hours a day and are too good... buying it though for the singleplayer
  • #8, IGN never have a clue what they're on about. They called Team Bondi, "Team Bondy" and never gave them any credit in their review. Bunch of overpaid clowns.
  • #39 I am 99% sure it will be all single player achievements, IW have previously said that they're not a fan of MP achievements. I'd love to get 1000 in MW3, to go with my 2000 already from the first 2 ;)
  • @ 4. Its really sad that people like you need to Troll especially when you guys aren't Millionaires or have College Business Degrees. @ 21. Thats a problem for B3 especially when CoD is the FPS juggernaut, but I'm looking forward to both titles. @ 24. You're making fun of a lot of titles like Mass Effect, Battlefield, Halo, Mario, Zelda, Need for Speed, and Assassin's Creed while those were just a few examples. @ 26 and 38. Agreed. @ 28. The Battlefield fanboy called #4 already started it.
  • @ 28. I'm sorry I mean the Hater called # 4 already started it. I wanted to correct myself before I accidentally started a conflict.
  • Day one buy.
  • @43 >Implying I'm not allowed to troll. Dealwithit.
  • @ 43/4 this is true, in that case I side with 26 on the view of opposition to the man, he's has developed a successful business. Granted I think a good number of people in this forum wishes he/she could have his job or a percentage of his wealth but why hate on somebody for being successful? He's lucky, I'll admit that and I wish I had what his garage is probably like! :P
  • @44, @33 Dohoho. >http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01376/girls-getty_1376498i. >He thinks I''m a battlefield fanboy. Oh gawd. Muh Bawlz. Please. Just stop.
  • @26 Supported by the biggest gaming series in the world? You've got to be kidding me, it's the other way around. Kotick is supported by Blizzard, end of the line.
  • @ 42 - IW made that point very clear from COD4:MW. They didn't like the fact of people farming certain areas/maps for achievements. The point was to focus on the challenges and anything else that can be acquired pretty much anywhere.
  • lol you guys need to cool off with Agusta1, its was a joke, and a damn good 1 at that, stop having that much pride on a franchise (or should i say) company that doesnt give 2 shits about our/your feedback. ;)
  • @#12 BF realistic? Have you ever tried sniping with shotties in it? It's more effective than sniper rifles... I just hope they get rid of it for BF3... Not sure why so many ppl hate Kotick - is it jealousy? Must be, because other than having shitload of money I can't find another reason. he's not a douche like Cliffy B or a dumbass like (whatever his name is that keeps talking about Duke Nukme Forever) and he's not even nearly half as greedy as Microsoft.... Yet, I don't see you complainig about that:-) OT: Sounds as awesome as I hoped. I said it before and can say it again, more action packed over the top, full of explosion and WTF just happened moments cramped into 5/6 hrs of campaign, you won't find anywhere else:-)
  • Hope Sledgehammer or Raven (wherever does the MP) put a lot new things cause in Black Ops the MP became very boring cause was the same thing for 3 time...
  • @ 12 - If you want to talk about military games and their bogus stories, how about you at least acknowledge how BFBC pretty much copied Three Kings with the whole stolen gold motiff. And why would a major EMP blast seem unrealistic especially in these times? Y2K was supposed to be an entire network shutdown and that was almost ten years ago. Cloning has been going on for well over a decade. There are worries about the uses and results of thes super Hadron Colliders that are used many times as plot devices for conspiracy/sci-fi novels/movies. I think the guage on what's realistic/possible and what's not are pretty much moot at this point.
  • Ok a few inputs. 1. No Gaz / Ghost are not back, when you saw them die they died. Never understood why people though Ghost might be Gaz... same actor whoopdie-doo. 2. @4... haha awesome 3. I think the game will be awesome, and I may (probably) like it more than Black Ops even though I think every single CoD is awesome. But I don't think this will get the "biggest entertainment launch" back. The last several CoDs have taken it, but I think enough people are planning on not buying this just because of the IW fiasco that it will keep sales high, but below the mark for the award.
  • the second picture reminds me of the map storm.
  • lol @4 best song i've heard all day. on a serious note, i really hope they try to do something new with the game, the obligatory one new feature per version of multiplayer is not good enough, i'll still buy it more than likely, i like FPS's, but these grew stale after their first outings in all honesty. and although its always good to hear a game is using many different cities as settings, i fear it may detract from the overall quality of level design & level of depth & detail in each of the settings. unless they make each level about 10 mins long, which i wouldnt put past acti (MW2 was only 6 hours long if you spent an hour or so trying to go the wrong way) in truth, for the gamers, i hope this has something to keep it in check with battlefield, that game is looking (and sounding) really good. @52 are you sure you know who bobby kotick is, he's is the biggest prick in gaming, nay, the world... everytime he opens his mouth, it's used as a measuring tool for if activisions money grabbing schemes are going to work.... he mentioned the beachhead project (not by name) about 8 months ago, at least, when he was talking about other companies (well, not actually, blizzard are the same company) who can charge a subscription to play online It was around the same time i read somewhere that there is a share of the XBL sub fee that goes to publishers too, in a thread complaining about online passes (that may be incorrect, those threads are often trolled by cod fans) anyway Acti games retail @ 45 - 50 (rather that everyone elses 40) everyone else started with online passes (making it cheaper for those who buy new). activision saw this, went, we want more money too, and sent the trolls around every forum there is to diss anyone who uses them (companies not gamers) yet with the next cod comes sub based online play, not an online pass, and ongoing payment... now who's the money grabbing cunts, oh thats right, the same people its been for the last 5 years, but too many backwards people are still on with hating ea, move on, (i will say though, EA, quit with the sports games guys, they almost all suck ass, then you close the servers) anyway, i've forgotten a large portion of what i had to say, you know, the bits that are true, had to act busy for a few mins....
  • as much as I want to fight it, I always end up buying the next one and then trading it in for the next one. Vicious cycle eh?
  • @#57 So you're telling me you would not do the same? I can't honestly say I wouldn't and I will stand by jealousy factor as I think most (not all I realize, there must be someselfless ppl in this world left, right?;-)) of us would act the same. Why stop with the skies if can reach above them:-P Still we can't deny him ideas, and in all the honesty most devs sucks money out of one way or another. Truth be told it all started with MS and them charging monthly fee, plus charging for DLC and virtually anything else. Not sure how old you are, but I remember when game on PC would come out, it would have tools to create your own shit, and you could play something new in a game you love for free every week. Enter Microsoft and now CoD (which started on PC) doesn't even get dedicated server option for console let alone PC (mind you MS provides these for 360...) I could go on, but in the end no one is making us pay and I will not be complaining about anyone trying to make more money. If I want it, I'll get it and if I don't I'll pass. No one can make me change my mind...
  • The campaign will be on point, i'm sure. I do hope MP gets more well rounded this go round, i don't mind a predominant perk like Stopping Perk b/c it doesnt alter the flow of a game, whereas Ghost/camo is a crutch!
  • Dan, you are one sick fuck. Sticking a air riffle in a cat's anus? go die
  • Sure, US occupation was done in Homefront, but who plays Homefront anymore? I don't see it on Live's top 20 list.
  • Can't wait for the single player. MP has been such a bore lately with the CoD series - that and it's littered with 12 yr olds. Honestly, MP mode should be blocked with an algebra question. Get it wrong, can't play. Should filter out the idiots...
  • These images remind me and look like Cod 4 i can't wait for this Cod atleast it's based in different locations this time for a change.
  • Glad to see there keepiing the graphical about the same, MW2 was amazing looking and i'm sure MW3 will be as well. Concentrate on story making a last epic experience for gamers than fancying up looks. I just can't wait until they release info on the different editions for it.
  • @49 How am I kidding? COD used to be amongst other shooters such as Medal of Honour, and a plethora of other nameless FPS'. Now it is the biggest series on the market. It's success is unparallelled. It has a dedicated worldwide audience...to many it's basically a drug in their level of addiction. This change from canon fodder to military genius is down to two things 1) The brilliance of Infinity Ward in Cod4, especially with the change to the modern era. 2) The ruthlessly efficient business management by Kotick amongst others. You're welcome grasshopper.
  • The irony of a news thread like this is you can archive back to the last 3-4 COD releases and the comment section will practically be verbatum. The way I read it though is Baaaaa Baaaaa Baaaa?? Baaa! BAAAAAAA!!! BAAAA?? BAHAHAHAHA!
  • Sounds Excellent and for me I'm looking forward to both the online and campaign aspects of this game as i find IW's online although less balanced yet more enjoyable, and i hope they add just some missions in there that are just based on stealth, not just suddenly bursting into action the whole time and finally it's nice to see a mission or missions set in London as i fell it is a perfect location for a COD (heres hoping for a Canary Wharf and London Eye area maps in Multiplayer).
  • Must agree with a previous comment of having Mike Myers and various other community created games in their own playlist or even have them in the settings in Private Matchs --- imagine the player who is Myers actually has the mask on damn.
  • CoD sucks
  • @63 The problem with that kind of security is that the idiots will resort to the internet or a calculator to solve that equation. Damn internet and their cheap tactics. :P
  • Looks promising... I can't say I'm not going to buy it, but I'm still tired of Call of Duty. But hell, as long as they don't charge monthly fees, then I'll buy this next installment! Wait, they aren't going to make us pay for online... right?
  • The guy with Gaz's voice is gonna die. Why? MW1 - Gaz - KIA MW2 - Ghost - KIA MW3 - ??? - KIA It's fate.
  • Again I must say, it looks beautiful, but if it has static environments that don't respond to player actions, it's boring. One of the best things about Battlefield is the destructible environments. CoD has always suffered from this and I feel it makes the gameplay feel a lot less immersive.
  • no one even mentions anymore than infinity ward only exists in name at this point. ALL THE TALENT from infinity ward left to form respawn entertainment, so who the fuck is making this game and passing it off as the work of "infinity ward"? it sounds like it will be okay, but i don't like the idea of being disloyal to the people who actually came up with call of duty as we know it today.
  • I have high hopes for this. Really wishing the MP goes back to CoD4 roots, though I doubt it. Clearly the campaign is keeping the ridiculousness.
  • @ 73 - I've seen that kind of progression before...I'm thinking women and beatings... Bobby Brown James Brown Chris Brown Pattern much? LOL @ 63 - So Matchmaking should be based on mathematical problems and not maturity? A bit bias I think. If anything, there should be a question based around morality or ethics if you want it to filter out the immature players. Smart people are dicks too.
  • MW for the win :)
  • THATS ALL WE NEED IS ANOTHER CRAPPY COD GAME THAT NVR DOES ANYTHING NEW FUCK YALL CRYSIS 2 AND BATTLEFIELD 3 OWN THIS DAMN FRANCHISE AND ALWAYS WILL :D
  • @ 79 - Obviously b/c you said so. And all in caps. Consider it validated. Eh.
  • @ 46 and 48. You're a pathetic Troll especially when you can only Insult people for no reason. @ 49. Activision was successful before the Activision-Blizzard partnership, which means you should stop Trolling. @ 52. Its pure jealously while I do prefer him over those 3 examples that you gave us. @ 59. Agreed, but personally I think Dedicated servers are a joke while most games don't use them anymore. @ 63. You're going to get 12 year olds playing any Online game especially with the mainstream titles. @ 70 and 79. Two more pathetic Trolls are here. @ 75. Most of the "talent" is still with IW especially when the dead weight went to Respawn. I see you forgot about most of the previous employees stayed with IW.
  • A good preview but I really don't see why you thought it would be funny to work an animal abuse reference into it.
  • Wow looks pretty good I think the campaign looks pretty badass but I don't think this will be that good without Price and Soap, in any event the campaign sounds good with the whole WW3 plot and I heard this game has a survival mode finally Call of Duty is stepping up because sure Zombies has always been a fun time but lets see if Sledgehammer/Infinity Ward/Raven Software can refine the wave based enemy mode with MW3's Survival it would be fun to take on continues waves of enemies that are not zombies but instead snipers, heavy gunners, helicopters, tanks, etc. etc. on and them with weapons that are modern ones rather than WAW and Black Ops' retro ones don't get me wrong most of the guns in zombies are fun to use and pack a punching makes them makes them even better but it would be nice to fight waves of enemies with newer guns now lets see if the modern warfare series can make something as fun as Horde, Firefight, or Zombies.
  • Can't wait to see some MP videos, will be interesting to see what Raven Software does with the MP.
  • @4 You win the day. Only came on this thread to read that comment. Not a fan of Gears of Duty 12. I believe in miracles. You sexy thing.
  • Oh man if these pic's look good cant wait to see the videos of some game play, Hopefully the MP is not gonna have a lot of glitches.
  • #4 And I live in a house financed by my boss, and eventually myself, just like everyone else. What's your point ?
  • I didn't like the 1st modern warfare or the direction they took the series in, But was pleasantly surprised by the 2nd game, So I'm hoping this also follows the trend, But I think battlefield 3 is going to give Cod a run for it's money.
  • Really want to play, just a shame that in my opinion the graphics always lag behind in MW. But offcourse that could be my imagination. But also look forward to BF#, it looks awesome, only hope that the gameplay and story are fun.
  • I loved the story mode for all the CoD games, but never really got into multi.... anyway, where is Soap and Price? They were the best parts of MW1 and 2!!
  • @43, @44, @81 Why do you constantly criticize everybodies OPINIONS? Isnt that what a forum is for, to voice your OPINION? You constantly call everybody TROLLS, or FANBOYS, just because the post there OPINION. I know that you will now call me a TROLL, so be it. I really think you are the only TROLL, or FANBOY around the forums. GROWUP. You are not always right. Others Opinions are not always wrong like you think.
  • I am just mad that the German and French parts still have you playing as Americans. I'm tired of playing as the US, I wanted to play as French and German soldiers.
  • mmm I clearly dont get it why was everyone saying they wouldnt buy MW3 and suddenly everyone is interested in it?
  • Bleh
  • Good rent to enjoy the storyline and get the achievements, but screw the multiplayer call of duty has a bad habit of attracting the worst gamers in the world...
  • @91 Good luck with that.
  • I've always loved the Call of Duty franchise and I'll definitely be getting this one. They're fun, simple games with campaigns that always remind me of movies (fast paced, action packed, suspenseful...) and the multiplayer is always fun when playing with friends or on a rainy day. Everyone always seems to be complaining about these games but I personally find them very entertaining.
  • I won't lie, I'm looking forward to this game because I want to finish the MW story. I don't really care that it's more of the same, I knew that would be the case before the game was even announced. Come on, it's COD. Campaign will be fun for sure.
  • Another COD game? "War? War never changes"
  • Cant wait for this !!!
  • looking forward to this a lot. i just hope the campaign will be around 10 hours like crysis 2, and since they had 2 years to make it and 2 different teams working on one game (one for sp, one for mp) there should be no excuse. it will still probably be 5 hours unfortunately. i just don't see how they can squeeze in all these locations in under 5 hours.
  • Battlefield 3 > This shit.
  • modern gay affair 3!!!
  • Fuck this game. I am done with Modern Warfare because of what happened with Zampella and West and the rest of the IW Crew with MW2. No more Call of Duty or Modern Warfare games for me. Bring me Duke Nukem, and of course Battlefield 3.
  • Don't know why everyone is saying they can't wait for this. Go play MW2 and Black Ops, its the same thing with a different name.
  • Hope the singleplayer is good. The battlefield franchise is my go-to multiplayer
  • Black ops multiplayer was pathetic! MW3 is going to be wayyyy better than black ops hands down!!
  • hope they at least keep the aspects of the black ops MP in this, Skill for the kill, not noob with a tube plz!
  • already pre-oder it, and got a 2 sided poster with it. oh, along with COD MW3, you get assassin creed revelations, so 2 games in November, street dated.
  • I like COD a lot but I think I'll wait 3 more days for Skyrim....then I'll be set for a few years.
  • @31 It's a Spongebob theme song parody..
  • @110 i like your gamer pic
  • until i see more im sold on battlefield 3
  • Ahhh... just wouldnt be Modern Warfare without Gaz popping back up haha
  • I have always been a fan of the MW series, so I will be looking forward to this newest installment. I do want to know what Makarov is up to, and to see how many old team mates have made it into the sequal. I was not a fan of MW 2 multiplayer either, but the campaigns in these games is where they shine for me. It is all about a good epic story, and all of them from call of duty, to black ops have had amazing stories that have a high immersion factor. Day 1 buy for me, oh and I WANT SOME MORE SPEC OPS!!!!
  • will get it for nostalgia and the fact ive never missed a cod game but not really gettin hyped :/
  • Sweet.
  • I'm hyped. They got me again. Hope they don't screw it up and bring more epic awesomeness.
  • i sure hope multi player has like 90 guns or something. I want it to keep me entertained for awhile.
  • @4 would have been funny if he didn't steal it from youtube...
  • @ 86. IW isn't the only Developer especially when Sledgehammer and Raven are involved. @ 87. Agreed. @ 91. I can voice my Opinion like anyone else, but you forget that Trolls and Fanboys don't have Opinions because they just Flame. I'm no Troll while I prefer people to Grow up including you because you aren't immature little kids anymore. @ 95. I see that you haven't played that much Multiplayer based games because every game attracts the worst gamers in the world. I see that you need to Flame for no reason. @ 99. Trolls talking BS never changes. @ 104. You do know that Zampella and West committed big time Fraud to Activision when they were making a game for EA wile being employed under Activision. Most of the previous IW staff is still working in IW, which that shows how much you actually know. Please go somewhere else to Troll and Fanboy. @ 107. I see that you don't like Online games to be balanced then. @ 113. B3 has barely shown anything while it more looks like a CoD game then a Battlefield game.
  • Looks like it is going to be quite the game! I always liked MW2 over Black Ops just due to the lack of infinite spawns. Hope this game is the same way. I wonder how B3 is going to compare.
  • I'm going to pass on this one.Didn't like MW2 cause of all the glitchers, and I hated black ops for the reason that the storyline kinda sucked (my opinion).Zombie Mode was the only saving grace for me in Black Ops.Never been a fan of Treyarch (or however you spell it).Call me crazy but I'm call of duty'd out.just gonna wait for Rage to come out,and I already have crysis 2.So I'm good for a while.I would like to see IW make something other than call of duty. But due to contract they can't.Just a thought
  • I Hope this campaign is actually good, unlike Black ops, the whole flashback-y thing just ruined it. And the fact that half of the weapons weren't even in like early prototype phases yet. I really only bought that for zombiez. The IW campaigns are better than the Treyarch ones.
  • I Just hope they quit that ZOMBIE shit int his game... if i want to kill zombies i play "RE 5" or "Left for dead"!!!
  • I really like the MW but the Battlefield 3 is lookin pretty darn good. Wonder which one will be better... which one to buy. Who am I kidding, ill end up buying both.
  • Man i can't wit till this game comes out!!!!!
  • Man i can't wit till this game comes out!!!!!
  • I hope they keep up with the funny names. SOAP LOOK OUT FOR ROACH. Sir the roach is dead.
  • @126 agreed
  • @73 I got It! We use a timer and after 1:30, it gives a whole new equation. GET ME ACTIVISION!!!!!
  • Also would you get me Sledgehammer... Just remembered they're making the game...damn.
  • If there are dedicated servers in this game i might actually give a COD multiplayer a try. If not, well, guess I'll settle for the 64-player brilliance that Battlefield 3 is going to be.
  • @ 126. Agreed as well. @ 129. Soap was a slippery fellow and Roach was literally hard to kill. @ 133. Hopefully you're talking about the PC there because thats the major reason why Dedicated Servers for those games are used and is the only version to have the supposed 64 player count. If you want the best version of B3 then go PC.
  • I totally looking forward to MW3! The reveal trailer looks very nice...nonstop action over the top! :)If they removie Last Stand,Deathstreaks and all that noob sh** in online mode...it will be fantastic + coop game modes!
  • @31,43 BUTTHURT MUCH!?
  • too many,too fast
  • ugh I hate Call Of Duty its all the same so I'm not going to be getting this......
  • What a surprise, fanboys ahoy. Might get this for mah birthday, but considering Skyrim comes out on my 18th, there probably won't be much playing time... What with getting wasted and Elder scrolls :D
  • @134 GTFO YOU TROLL!
  • Sweet cant wait to get the game and earn the achievements and play an amazing game that i enjoy as well!
  • insted of call of duty 50 or what ever it is now how about a new fps game u now some thing new and original instead of CALL OF DUTY !!!!!
  • @ 136. You really need to get a Life because of that pathetic Trolling attempt. @ 138. Most games are basically the same including the AAA titles like Battlefield, Halo, and Gears while you didn't need to Troll about that. @ 139. Its sad to see the different Trolls and Fanboys come out in this article board. @ 140. I'm no Troll, but you and #136 are the perfect examples of Trolls especially with the Flaming, which means you should learn the definitions of words before using them.
  • @143 Hope you weren't implying I'm a troll :/
  • @ 142. CoD isn't that close to having that many installments, but you forget that its a AAA title. Thats like saying we should kill Halo, Battlefield, and Gears for no reason as well.
  • @ 144. No I wasn't while I just said they like to come out with the Faboys to Insult people and such.
  • @ 4 I just don't want to see Kotick in Spongebob's thong. That would just be wrong on so many levels. Too many good games being released, too little money.
  • it's amazing how many people on the internet claim to hate cod and complain about it all the time when the sales figures tell a different story completely i love games and i accept every games has it's flaws i love battlefield and i love cod i can understand what annoys people about cod but come on i can't read anything to do with cod without trawling through hundreds comments of people fighting like idiots can you all not just accept it is what it is either enjoy it or not and as for the whole money grabbing side to it noone is making you buy the game and if you were in the position to make that kind of money i'm pretty certain you would all do the same thing (map packs are stupidly expensive however)
  • Why people hate bobby http://www.geeks.co.uk/7282-activision%E2%80%99s-bobby-kotick-hates-developers-innovation-cheap-games-you
  • Oh yeah baby can't wait for this title to be released.
  • Then next CoD. As people have already said, it's the same really. Few things will improve, they'll bring in a few new things. I'll buy it as it's new. New maps to play on, the campaign to play through, new achievements to unlock... It's all good fun :) Having said that, I am looking forward to this one more than I did any of the others. It looks to be a good'n
  • @12 u just know it all dont you
  • "Can Infinity Ward do it again?" You say that as if the vast majority of creative talent didn't abandon ship. This game is IW in name only.
  • I am hoping for a more extensive singleplayer story more spec ops.
  • @4 that gave me a good laugh XD
  • @ 153. Most of the previous IW employees are still there especially when only a handful of people left after the whole Zampella and West BS.
  • Whoaa!! cant wait !
  • @33 No offence but it was shepherd who killed Ghost and Roach
  • well from the poster you get for preordering the game, (cleverly done as a time magazine cover) soap and price are basically the world's most wanted, and i hope you spend a portion of the storyline at least trying to clear your name, unless all hope they had of freedom died with shepard. also the russian president's daughter has been kidnapped holding off peace talks between them and the us.
  • this is definitly a buy for me although i am slighlt concerned about whether it will live up to the first two modern warfares.
  • Hope they add some new stuff to the game play. Also I want to see some actual game play before I purchase this.
  • I don't care what anyone says, this game looks AMAZING!! P.S. Watch the Reveal Trailer.
  • IVE BEEN PREPARIN BY PLAYIN ALL MY COD GAMES
  • Cant wait!!!
  • As odd as it is, I've always enjoyed the COD series for their campaigns than their multiplayer as it gives me (personally) more excitement. I am really looking forward to this...been waiting for it since the end of MW3!
  • Looking forward to it!.=)
  • This looks great although honestly I prefer the Black Ops setting for the campaign much more. I like the vietnam, cold war era. But I am looking forward to this.
  • Well I always get the new COD that does not make me a fanboy because i also buy every Battlefield but i bet half the people who sit there and moan about COD end up buying it anyway and you sitting there crying about it does not affect them they are still going to sell millions of copies and earn millions in money so shhhhh
  • I hope they make the campaign longer because i beat mw2 and black ops in just a few hours. I like online but i like to play the actual game as well.
  • If anyone out there is speculating about whether Gaz or Ghost will be back...neither of them will. In COD4, Gaz was shot in the head by Imran Zakhaev. In MW2, Ghost was shot in the head by General Shepherd. Both voiced by Craig Fairbrass. So, in MW3, I should imagine the character he voices will most probably die as well. A strong correlation I think?...
  • Looking forward to the campaign, they are always enjoyable to play. One thing I'm hoping is that the multi player doesn't suck as much as MW2 did, where in my opinion 'IW' destroyed COD for a year. Lets hope they make it a bit more like COD4 & Black Ops. Going to have to wait and see (Fingers Crossed)
  • If IW can deliver i will buy they did well with cod 4 and mw2( expect the hacking) hopefully u cant hack 10th because this made it look bad for people who got it for legit eg me
  • I can't wait. Gonna F some people up!!!
  • they need campaign more intresting and better anti mod system cause they really messed up MW2 titles and stuff like that it didnt really seem like any of the CODs before it it was weird but it just needs a thrilling anticapating story and multiplayer
  • This Game from what i have seen seems just like MW2 But something inside is making me think about buying it.
  • GERMANY LOOKS KICK ASS
  • [@156] Troll [@146] Troll [@145] Troll [@143] Yes, you are a troll. Respawn owns Infinity Ward. Treyarch, go away.
  • Meehh, Something About This Game, For Me Just Doesnt Really Have The WOW Factor, Might be Cause Its Battlefield 3 And Skyrim In The Same Month So Yeah Chances Are Ill Be Skipping This One.
  • this game is gonna be so legit
  • I love COD, can't wait to put my penis through this disc.
  • I am looking forward to continuing the story line in this new game. I understand the whole legal debate of the co-founders that left Infinity Ward and Activision, but as long as this game lives up to the hype and doesn't fizzle like Black Ops did in my opinion, then I will be HAPPY! I am truly anticipating this game with as much fervor as I hope the NFL comes back this year. Please be a great game???
  • its funny that #4 says that they are money grubbers who just release the same crap over and over again, when his icon is a Bungie Logo. LOL
  • Just watch gameplay footage from e3... Oh dear. I think they would have been better off calling it Modern warfare 2.1
  • @#182 Come on mate. I think Each halo game has had a good addition of new features with each game passing.. Look at halo3 then Halo 4......You cant really say they released the same crap
  • sorry obviously meant to write halo: reach
  • Games looks good lets see if they release some map packs a month after the release
  • This sounds slightly more intense than any other CoD's. Even if the multiplayer is not up to the high standards then maybe people will be happy with an extremely intense singleplayer, and maybe Co-Op?
  • This is the same as MW2.
  • wow this game is gana suck some major ass like MW2
  • rail shooting, sneaking, breaching and clearing, helicopters all sucked in previous call of duty games have they not learned?
  • Infinity Ward > Treyarch This is going to be amazing, I can't wait ^_^
  • can't be worst than black ops
  • Please no multiplay achivements! And please no more hackers! Have you seen MW2's leaderboards? It is like a giant hack by some spoiled 9 year old. Come on Bobby, you think you could do it? Just for me and the MILLIONS of others who think the same as me?
  • its gonna be grand
