Soul Calibur V Teaser Transcends History

A tale of souls and swords eternally retold... That's Soul Calibur V that is. Is the tale eternally retold, because no one really understands what the hell is going on the first time? Whatever the case, Soul Calibur is officially back, and Namco Bandai has released the debut trailer to coincide with the game's announcement at its LevelUp conference in Dubai.

Featuring Siegfried and Nightmare, as well as the good and evil versions of the ubiquitous sword, the trailer is typically OTT, but sadly shows little in the way of gameplay. OK, it shows no gameplay, but it does show Nightmare roaring and a glimpse of Sophitia raising the weapon above her head. Looks like the story might still heavily involve Siegfried and his corrupted alter-ego then.

In fact, Sophitia's son Patroklos will be at the centre of the story too, who we assume is the blonde fella in the eye of the evil sword. That would make sense. Check out the short teaser trailer below for a first look at Soul Calibur V, then look out for the game in 2012.

	Soul Calibur 4 was the worst in the series (graphics were nice though), I really hope this one will be more fun. =)

	yeah why did they change the name. i liked soul blade. i have still yet to see a decent mission mode like the one in sould blade. was epic.

	The teaser looks like shit. If they achieved something with it then it was turning me off from soul calibur 5. All you see is Siegfried and Nightmare from SC4. If they start like this then I have a very bad feeling.

	I really like soul calibur but that trailer was pretty terrible. Just didn't get that feeling inside when I watched it.

	Last one was kinda disappointing... like the whole thing thrived on the hype of Star Wars characters. Also hopefully they will fix the stat adjusting aspect of clothing items in the create-a-character section. I fell out of favor with that idea the moment it told me 2 articles of clothing couldn't be worn together for some weird reason.

	I loved 1 and 2, but after those it just sorta went downhill for me... I'll probably rent this just to see, but I don't see it being a buy for me. I agree with 13, the last got most of it's popularity from the SW characters.

	Hopefully this one HAS a story. 4's "story" mode was terrible. I wonder who the cameo characters are going to be this time.

	@ 23. The special edition would be for both consoles like with SC4 and Raphael is mostly coming back since he became a Vampire in SC4.

	Bit of advice....buy stock in the companies that make controllers for consoles. SC is notorious for making controllers break into pieces.
