Japan will be getting Dark Souls first and for PlayStation 3 only this September, with a release for the hard-as-nails hack and slash RPG slated for October 2011 in other territories on both Xbox 360 and PS3.

This week's Famitsu reveals the September time frame in Japan where From Software will be publishing its game, while Namco Bandai confirmed that Dark Souls will be arriving elsewhere this October during its LevelUp press conference in Dubai.

Namco Bandai also confirmed that there'll be a pre-order incentive for European punters, who will be able to get their hands on the Dark Souls Limited Edition at no extra charge when pre-ordering. The package will include the game's original soundtrack, a hardcover art book and a making of video according to CVG.

So, there you have it. Get in some cheap controllers to destroy when Dark Souls comes to Europe and North America in early October 2011.

great to have it on xbox, well never tried the ps3 exclusive one, literally the first if you want it.
I always confused Dark Souls with Demon Forge or else.
And, i like the online component, im not into onlinegaming expect a few, but this time arround i look forward to online in Dark Souls :)

No extra charge Limited edition? THAT is how you get me to pre-order! I'm looking forward to trying this after hearing good things about the PS3 original.

Nice, I'll be getting this. Demon's Souls was a huge reason for getting a PS3 to me, but I didn't get it. Now that this coming out, I don't need a PS3!

Demon's souls was great, I imported the Japanese version when I had a PS3, that and MGS4 were the only games I truly enjoyed and was able to get into. I had the likes on Infamous & Killzone 2 but I just wasn't able to play them over my Xbox 360 games (Hate PS3 Trophies too).

Anyway, back OT; Demon's Souls wasn't exactly hard as nails it was more frustrating than anything. You had to take everything very slow as a random enemy could kill you just before a boss and send you back to the start of the level, losing all the souls (the currency in the game) you had gained along the way.

Even more frustrating was the boss fights themselves, I was almost scared to try and attack for fear of having to restart the level from scratch. However as an action RPG you won't find much better. The graphics and fighting animations were also fantastic.

Looking forward to more of the same in Dark Souls and absolutely chuffed I can get it on my 360 this time around. The achievement list will be interesting to see and I'm already wondering how many people will be able/have the patience to 1000G it... I reckon I'll be able to count how many on one hand.

Still can't wait for this, Demon's Souls was incredible so this'll be great. :D

@5 - a lot of games are doing this now. Even the original EU/UK release of Demon's Souls was a special edition, rather than a regular with an optional special edition. It's just another form of project $10, really. Still great to have though!

I never got into Demon's Soul. I might give this a pass too unless they release a demo. Still, it's a nice preorder bonus. Looks like they are trying to make it standard nowadays:-)

Never played the one for PS3 but saw some gameplay for this and I have to say I'm hooked.
