| The 1st sold poorly, so I'm guessing it'll be an extended/improved version of the 1st game, and it wont be limited to 360 platform. They need a bigger audience to justify a sequel |

*Spoilers?.. if you use common sense and figure it out*
....but yeah as 21 said, im guessing a Thomas Zane spin off styled game similar to the way Alan Wake was played, in a lead up to Alan Wake 2.
Either that that a Thomas Zane style game similar to AC: Revelations, where it will be set in both time periods allowing you to continue playing as Wake, while also playing as Zane to further the story and find out how exactly Wake was added into the story to finish his work O: |

So it could be;
A prequel.
A spin-off featuring Thomas Zane.
A spin-off featuring Alice.
A movie.
An interactive comic.
A Kinect game.
A Goosebumps style book.
An Alan Wake Kart Racing. Wait, Nintendo didn't make this.
Those are just some of what I can think of. Hopefully, it won't be a terrible Kinect game or a movie. Or Kart Racing. Though, as long as they include Poets of the Fall again, I'll be pleased. |

| I read it to say that the next game literally won't be called "Alan Wake 2" so I'm guessing it could either be a prequel; maybe telling the story of Thomas Zane.... Or, playing as someone back in the 'real world' during the events shown after the end of the original game. |

| Spoiler, maybe. I'm thinking an arcade game based on Zane. I got the feeling while playing The Writer that there was something he was hiding from Wake. Perhaps it could be based on Zane's time in the Dark Place, with the environments relating to poetry he has written or something. After all, his poems were a lot more extravagent than Alan's writing. |

| Maybe it is a revamped version which includes all DLC. The trailer could be a collective gameplay video (The cinematic thing that CV had in it). I would have loved to play Alan Wake 2 though. Still I bet what ever the outcome it will be great. |

I think it will be revealed that Zane is actually a new series of Big Daddies and this will be a nice mix of AW with Bioshock : P
I do like the idea of Alice having to now look for Alan could be interesting if that is what they do.
As for kinect.....I think I would burn my original copy in protest if they go that way! |

- XBLA Spin-off (which could just as easily be a continuation without being a sequel, like Dead Rising's Case Zero and Case West)

| My guess is that it takes place before the events of Alan Wake. Maybe you play as Thomas Zane and learn more about what really happened. You learn more about the charectors that are in Alan Wake that were around when everything with Tom happened. I don't care what it is, because Alan Wake is one of my favorite games of all time. It is obviously another game set more or less in same town with different characters. It will be sort of a sequel, but with a new main protagonist and probably mr. Wake will be put here and there as reference, maybe one of supporting cast... That's why it would make no sense to title it Alan Wake 2...

| I had thought from the end of the original game that they could use Alice as a protagonist as she is an artist in her own right; a photographer. It doesn't have to be the creative process of only poets and writers that the Darkness feeds on. Incorporating photography could make for an interesting narrative approach in the way that the story is reavealed. |

| Based on the curious absence of the word Alan from the Remedy spokesperson, I think that Alice Wake makes the most sense. Tell you something true, and let you draw the wrong conclusions from it. Video games need more female protagonists anyway. |

| If it's not part of the main cannon (ie: A.Wake 2), and it's not DLC for the first game, then it must be something that you play on your phone. That's my guess. Without spoilers, it could involve T.Z. and the removal of a certain heart. |

@69: That's actually a really good guess as to where this could go... considering we have no clue what really happened to T.Z. after that, it would be nice to have some insight.
Now, when he says "fall 2011 is a good guess", does he mean for the games' release, or for an announcement about the game? Kinda confused on that part... XD
I'm seriously excited to hear that it's getting some sort of follow up, and so soon after Alan Wake, especially considering the long development time for the original. I'm wondering though... since the franchise is likely to keep the "TV episode/season" format for chapters, could we consider whatever this is going to be as a miniseries? If we think of it that way, what kinds of things could they reveal to us in a miniseries related to Alan Wake?
I doubt it would star who we all think it should be, b that A.W. or T.Z.; that would be too obvious, and potentially reveal far too much about the mystery of the series. My guess? A certain stalker cop whose true motives and reason for being involved are murky at best. |

Well...it may be a XBLA bridge to an Alan Wake sequal. When you beat the second DLC it says "Alan Wake: Return" so that may be a clue.
I'm thinking it may be like Dead Rising Case 0
