| Shit! I just got that email from PSN. I have to give them a call and maybe get some identity theft protection in place. for $10 a month seems like cheap way to get out possibility of some huge trouble. Good thing I don't play MW2 anymore. Have enough to worry about as it is. |

More a bunch of users trying to get information out of gamers... you would hope that 360 gamers would be smart enough not to give out passwords and personal information via email... (which is basically what live messaging is). Its not like the PSN issue where user data has been stolen... |

| This has been a constant part of mw2 for the last year or so. Almost every game without fail myself and members of my party get a message from a random player asking for .... msp for .... hacked. We have turned it into a game of guessing how much msp they want. We even messed around with one who was "kind" enough to either do it for 1200 msp or for free if we let him recover our account. I had my laptop up so replied with a fake email and 38 character password in the hope to waste his time putting it in on xbox. |

As far as the recent problems with the PSN are concerned, sorry PS3 users that really sucks. Regardless of what system you use you shouldn't have to deal with shit like that. On the other hand though, just goes to show, you get what you pay for.
And lol at #18. MW2 a perfect game? This stuff has been going on for ages in that online community. That's what happens when you never bother to patch a game. At least Treyarch supports their products. |

imo phishing on a specific game vs. PSN problem: Uncomparable.
besides, phishing 10th prestige for points lobbies have been there on MW2 for months. I dont know how microsoft will solve them unless they disable the ability to send messages. |

I think Microsoft just didn't want PSN overshadowing them for something so they just threw phishing out there. Its like a popularity contest at least you are being seen even if its bad.
Phishing has been around for ages and its not just MW2, its any game. People that give there information need to think first and not be so naive. Like others said this isn't really comparable, one can happen anywhere plus it has been happening for ages, then the other is hacked and everyone is affected by it.
Side note, people saying who plays this anymore, its 2nd most played behind black ops on the 360 so obviously a lot of people still play it. Plus Infinity Ward supported there game plenty, they were pretty quick with updates, but the reason they weren't as fast as Treyarch is they were all leaving the studio do to the lawsuit. Stop being fanboys and just get along with everyone.

| Hackers are one of th emost disgusting and putrid examples of a human being there is. They take advantage of what there is, and they steal credit card numbers, shut down entire networks, and destroy people's experiences playing games. I just purchased Socom 4, and now I cannot play the great online because of these ignorant hackers. Honestly, can they not choose to do something progressive and successful in their lives? I've pretty much given up on the Modern Warfare franchise. CoD4 was epic; I thoroughly enjoyed that game. MW2 was fun until the game was compromised by hackers, glitches, and extreme balancing issues. MW3 will end up the same way, mark my words. It just seems that Call of Duty is the cesspool for these kinds of things. CoD3 was crap, but Black Ops is probably the most fun I've had on a CoD game since 4 - yet even it got boring.
On a side, why the hell wont Treyarch release Zombie maps by themselves? So aggravating! Especially with Danny Trejo being in this new one! |

Lol @73. I randomly put MW2 back in during the time this was all going on. People were mass spamming text in places it shouldn't have been and whatnot. Never got any phising attempt messages though.
Played again last night and seems its all been fixed. Game is SOO much better than BLOPS. |
