Rockstar Respond to Bully Problems

Rockstar Respond to Bully Problems
Written Thursday, March 06, 2008 by Dan Webb

By now, the vast majority of people are stomping round the school yards looking for their next victim, in Bully the game that is. But it's not all plain sailing for most of you. Since Bully hit the shelves days ago, the internet has filled up with people complaining of frame rate issues, bugs and freezes in their copy of Bully: Scholarship Edition. Kotaku took it upon themselves to chase up head honcho Sam Houser for an official statement which went as follows...

"We have just become aware of the issues people are having with Bully Scholarship Edition on Xbox 360. It appears that some older 360s are experiencing framerate issues, freezes and other problems. You have our word that we never experienced any of this in QA - in any of our offices or at Microsoft. I am horrified, and we are now working around the clock to rectify this situation. Thanks to Neo-Gaf for bringing this matter to our attention. We love our games and put a huge amount of energy and care into making them all that they can be. We would never shove anything out the door - we never have and never will. We apologise to everyone affected for the inconvenience. Respectfully, Sam Houser"

To be honest, I never expected any less of the enigmatic Rockstar, such a refreshing attitude in this day and age of all the commercialisation of gaming that goes on around us.
Let's just hope they can fix it quick and we can get back to skipping class... Again, in Bully, that is! We'll keep you informed of any updates we receive or stumble upon.

At least they say they will fix the issue and not just give a form-letter response with no clear path of resolution.

Crap, I should've known that Rockstar would actually care about it and fix it soon! *heads back over to Amazon.com to cancel order of Wii version*

Plus they said it's only on older 360's, and mine is pretty new, so maybe I won't have any problems anyway.

Yeah, honestly, I have the game right now and I'm experiencing those same exact problems, but there's no way that it's doing a whole lot to ruin my experience of the game.

It really is worth it. If you're on the fence over this game, don't let this keep you from one of the most entertaining game experiences.

And I thought I was the cynical one around here....did you guys read the Rockstar response?

I believe that they're on it and will fix it quick. As Webb said it's a very refreshing, HONEST response. Good for Rockstar...are you listening EA?

And yes Stallion, soon you'll be able to express your true feelings in proper fashion =}

Its something they will try to fix with a patch CaptainKicker. Since I haven't played the game yet I'm unsure how bad it is. I'm about to replace my system with my warrenty anyway, so I should be fine.

I bet they can just implement a software patch / downloadable hotfix.. so I wouldn't worry too much.

Unless of course, the older 360 hardware is that lacking... hmm.

Comment #30 by ezekiel 08
Thursday, March 06, 2008 @ 06:13:18 PM

"OR is it something that can be fixed with a patch like Two worlds?"

Hell, Two Worlds still sucks even with the 1.6 patch! In 5 hours of play, it generally freezes 5-8 times. I'm playing it on a 360 that isn't 3 months old too. I save my progress every time I teleport or enter a cave or complete a mission just so I don't loss too much progress.

Back on topic now... I got Bully today and I just jumped on the forums to find many people complaining about the freezing/fps problems. I think I'll play some more Two Worlds (yay :-( ) before I pop this in. Damn, only one more achievement to go in TW too :P.

@matthewmcg360 --
I was thinking the same thing as you when I was looking at it at Blockbuster yesterday. Apparently it has something like 5 new classes and 7 new missions or something like that but it didn't entice me to rent. Like you, I too played the crap out of it on PS2 and while I enjoyed it thoroughly, I don't think the added content is quite enough to warrant another playthrough. Well at least not while there are so many other things that need renting hehe.

I have an elite....same framerate, freezing issues. It's not on "just older 360s", but I do appreciate the owning up to this problem.

As to GTA4....No way their flagship title will have these issues out of the box...

This was clearly rushed out to boost their final year figures before the finacial year closes in April since they could barely release manhunt and GTA 4 was delayed.
I have a brand new elite and it has a few frame rate issues. But the best issue is the charaters getting stuck to the floor or being frozen in animation makes it easy to bully some one who cant run away or who cant give chase.

I don't think it has to anything to do with the age of a system. That's just a cop out. I have a 3 month old Elite, and the game has frozen up on me four times today. I may stop playing it until a patch comes out.

Rockstar Games is always on the ball and I don't hold it against them for finding a bug that never showed up in early tests. They've always do good QA on all their products and no company is 100% flawless. It just shows you that even the best companies get these problems.

that's crazy i play two worlds for hours at a time with no problems with it freezing

anyway that's cool that they admit the problem and apologised so fast some company's act like nothing's wrong with there game and just release a patch when they get a round to it

I'll still buy and play the downloadable content, but achievements would be nice.
Who the hell cares!?
No achievements, no sale ... and that goes for any game ... whether you're GTA or Halo!
Just stop with the DLC achievements full stop ... you're ruining my completion percentage dammit!
