Samurai Warriors 2 Expansion and New Achievements

Becoming yet another game to take advantage of the 1250 cap in the achievement system, the ages old Samurai Warriors 2 will be releasing its upcoming expansion "Xtreme Legends" on March 21st via the Marketplace for the extremely ridiculous price of 2400MSP. Now, granted, this is basically en entire game, much like Oblivion's expansion, and will actually see a separate PS2 release.
 
Official description:
 
"Samurai Warriors 2 Xtreme Legends introduces brand new levels, play modes, characters and challenges, whilst also enhancing the Samurai Warriors 2 experience. It enables owners of SW2 to power up all of the original characters with new charge attacks and a fifth new weapon and increase their growth level from 50 to 70. Players are also able to use the brand new SW2 XL characters in SW2’s Survival, Story and Sugaroku modes.Samurai Warriors 2 Xtreme Legends also features 36 new scenarios, including the new battlefields of Okehazama and Shikoku, and the brand new Mercenary mode, where players get the chance to hire other samurai to fight alongside you. 2 player co-op mode can be played in Story mode and Free mode and the game now has two new difficulty modes for beginners and veterans alike, leading to six in total."
 
New Achievements:
 

Story Mode: Clear Toshiie  30
Clear Toshiie Maeda's Story Mode(SW2XL) and save your game.

Story Mode: Clear Motochika  30
Clear Motochika Chosokabe's Story Mode(SW2XL) and save your game.

Story Mode: Clear Gracia  30
Clear Gracia's Story Mode(SW2XL) and save your game.

Story Mode: Clear Yoshimoto  30
Clear Yoshimoto Imagawa's Story Mode(SW2XL) and save your game.

Story Mode: Clear Kojiro  30
Clear Kojiro Sasaki's Story Mode(SW2XL) and save your game.

Story Mode: Clear Katsuie  30
Clear Katsuie Shibata's Story Mode(SW2XL) and save your game.

Mercenary Mode: Unification  35
Claim victory in a Unification Battle in Mercenary Mode(SW2XL) and save your game.

Mercenary Mode: Greatest  35
Become the greatest in the land in Mercenary Mode(SW2XL) and save your game.


Changed Achievements:
 
In addition to the new achievements, the two Survival Mode achievements have been changed a bit. I'm assuming this is because with the new level 70 cap, the two older achievements may become easier and the new stipulation for unlocking them probably keeps the difficulty even.
 

Katsuie(SW2)/Joun(XL) Hired   25
Hire Katsuie in SW2 and Joun Takahashi in SW2XL at the Shop and save your game.

Kojiro(SW2)/Yoshiteru(XL) Hired  25
Hire Kojiro in SW2 and Yoshiteru Ashikaga in SW2XL at the Shop and save your game.

30 bucks is what the xtreme legends expansions always cost. this one is only different in the sense that it isnt being sold in stores on a disc. that being said, I dunno if its worth it, but I might check it out.

I'll get it. Can someone explain the two changed achievements to me?? Those I never got around to unlocking the two survival bodyguards. It seems you can just purchase them now??

hmm considering the game only costs 15 quid nowadays over here im not to sure 20 quid for the expansion is a good deal.

For the two changed achievements, you always had to hire them after they were unlocked I believe. So now you'll have to unlock both and hire both to get the achievement. If that's the case, you will only be able to get 950 in this without the DLC, which is completely against M$ rule of 1000 free. We'll have to see how it works when the DLC is out on the 21st I guess...

I'm excited about this. ^_^ I put SW2 down for a bit but the new modes will give me something to look forward to.
And yeah, if they released SW2XL as a disc more people would buy it. But I think, at least, it's easier downloading it.

Uh, ThePantsParty, how is it against the rules when Katamari from launch wouldn't allow even 800 without unreleased DLC?

And I could use a better explanation on the last two achievements that are changed as well...I never went after the survival ones when I rented SW2.

I clocked up 50+ hours on Samurai Warriors 2, so would have liked this, but that's just a stupid price to charge. The game itself isn't even worth half that second-hand. How many downloads are they honestly expecting out of this? I mean, when you could buy N+, Rez and SWOS for the same price.

I, too, would really appreciate expansions like this to be available on disc. I hate buying things that I won't be able to sell/exchange when I'm finished, I just don't have the spare cash to do that. 2400MP is, what, about £20? That's more than a month's worth of game rentals.

i dont like believe they made takahasi and ashigaki achievements it should be munenori yagru and orochi or even da ji zhao yun something like that even goemon wouldve been better or kunoichi not two generic generals ah well better something than nothing im also wondering if you have the katsuie/kojiro achievements can you use the download content.... or would you have to start a new GT?

I love the samurai warriors franchise but not enough to spend 30 bucks on new achievements. Only my DLC achievement percentage takes a hit.
