I most certainly hope it is for GTA V. I´ve been playing the series since the beginning!
But I don´t think they will announce it before LA Noire will release, so they won´t take any attention of that game. Not sure though ;). |

| I've always loved the gta series, but the last one annoyed me. Every time I went to do a mission someone calls up to go play darts. NO! I don't want to drive all the way to the otherside of the city to play darts! What's that, your not my friend anymore, well f$&@ you too! |

| @12 I agree, it felt a step back from the previous GTA games, the only thing i actually liked about it was the sort of realism from the driving compared to the others, i recently bought San Andreas from Games on Demand and it so much better. Can't get enough of it. |

| I really enjoyed GTA IV, simply because the realistic driving, ragdolls and damage models. If they can mix that with the joy of GTA SA then there on for a winner. Though maybe remove some of the crazy stuff like Jetpacks, keep the Jets though. They aren't at all silly! :P |

I hope it isn't a GTA V per se. Between GTA III and GTA IV were Vice City and San Andreas which are still the best in the series.
I would love a return to Vice City but a brand new direction would also be welcomed. Despite the critical acclaim of GTA IV, let's hope rockstar can at least take some of the key elements back from the last generation and make GTA more fun again.
At the end of GTA IV you have $100,000s but nothing to spend it on, nothing to do. San Andreas was brilliant in that respect. So much to do.
Hopefully they will take from their MP experiences with both IV and RDR so this time we can get their best Multiplayer component yet, a ranking system similar to Red Dead would be much better than GTA IV's IMO. |

I've never been more hyped for a game than GTA IV. I got that shit home from the midnight release and played it until 8am. Then I probably got some food or went to class or something, but you know I was back on that masterpiece as soon as I got home.

| Unlikly that it will be GTA V, Rockstar ususally do a numbered GTA then a "spin-off" like Vice City or San Andreas, i fully expect there to be another spin-off before we see GTA V. |

| I personally would love either a new city or back in San Andreas or Vice City. We need the realism from GTA IV, but I want the stats (muscle, fat, respect etc.) from SA. Also, bring back planes and bicycles, and also bring back the minigun and flamethrower! |

| I hope they put in the aspects of upgrading your guy like in San Andreas. The more you drive the better the driver you are, the more you shoot and kill with a certain weapon the better you are at it. Make it like that and bring in the realism of GTA IV and it's set. Oh and let us fly planes again. |

I dunno about GTA V anymore, I loved all of them up to San Andreas, but GTA IV was a big step backwards from that one, and just focused on the "pretty" graphics rather than making the game fun to play, and took away a lot of the stuff that made San Andreas the best GTA.
That said, I'll be keeping an eye on this but if it's more of the same stuff we got from GTA IV, then I'll probably end up passing on GTA V . |

#41 I'd be very surprised to see them do a 'San Andreas 2' - the only reason they returned to Liberty City in GTA IV was because they wanted to have a proper go at making a city based on New York (GTA III had just been a generic city with small elements taken from several different cities), while the original San Andreas was a pretty faithful representation of it's respective cities, so I don't see that they'd feel the need to go back and do it again. I'm not saying they never would, I just wouldn't put any money on it.
Vice City is more feasible but to be honest I think it's a bit of a stretch as well, and if they did I can't see them doing the 1980's again, which is what made the atmosphere of the original so good. I suspect they may just do somewhere they've not done before.
As for the whole friends thing in GTA IV that a lot of people brought up, I thought it was a great feature, seeing as you now got to do a lot of the side activities with one of the other characters, the conversations they had would add quite a bit to the story, so I'm all for keeping that, just not the constant phone calls when you're usually in the middle of something else. Surely the idea of a sandbox game is that you get the option of doing stuff, such as going bowling with Roman, whenever you want, not when the game tells you you have to. Besides that, awesome game. |

i hope they tone down the realism/seriousness a tad. Part of the charm for gta for me, even since the top down versions was its wacky gameplay and sense of humour. I mean saints row 2 is more like gtas original style and humour than gta4 was.
then again i can always get that fix from saints and play the newer gtas for what they are now. |

Lol #42 You're living in dream land if you think we'll get GTA 5 this year considering how GTA IV was delayed about 100 times, like #29 said, xmas 2012 is a more likely estimate.
Back on topic, I doubt we will ever see a GTA titled as "Grand Theft Auto V".
GTA III and GTA IV were set in Liberty City and Rockstar have said that they are done with Liberty City now after the two expansions.

We had that speculation over the link to Vice City in the manual for the Episodes of Liberty City in 2009, with the title "Vesuvius Citrate" in the top corner or "V.C". Vice City anybody?

There are loads of links to both San Andreas and Vice City in GTA IV. Including trips to Vice City on the internet and the new radio station in the Episodes of Liberty City, just happens to be Vice City FM with the same presenter "Fernando Martinez".

#53 i remember that poster and the rumours...in the bottom right there is a Theatre Seagull logo.....Seagull Theatre apparently is in London,which was one of the GTA expansion packs if you remember
for me,i would want Vice City or San Andreas,and because of San Anmdreas having cities,forests and deserts..then San Andreas is the city i want next if given a choice..hell i would be happy with a San Andreas remake |

| Dont trust the Power Up rewards library. . . they add titles that are highly anticipated as well one such example is Jade Empire 2. I'm not doubting the game wont come out I just think it will be something that hits store shelves 2012. |
