Most impressive facial animations indeed, I'd love to see this tech adopted by more companies in the future. Then again, it's probably quite tricky to employ this tech on an actor portraying something not human (like a demon, magical entity or alien), but I guess that depends mostly on how developed the tech is. Anyhow it's great to see, and I hope this game turns out to be a hit (as that would surely help get the technology adopted by more developers).Thursday, December 16, 2010 @ 05:29 PM
very Impressive stuff will definitly think about this one.Thursday, December 16, 2010 @ 05:54 PM
I had a teacher last year who was involved in the early stages of the development of this technology as an actor. He said it was really impressive and he clearly wasn't kidding! Looks great.Thursday, December 16, 2010 @ 06:38 PM

LA Noire is a hard boiled detective story set in 1940s Los Angeles, amid a violent period in the city that saw the Dahlia Murders and more grimy dealings going on in the LA underworld. You're Cole Phelps, a good cop embroiled in the gritty crime and drama that makes the City of Angels such a dangerous place.
Utilising revolutionary MotionScan technology, LA Noire scans and captures every subtle nuance of an actor's performance for the most realistic, detailed and expressive faces we've ever seen in a video game. The tech uses 32 high-definition cameras positioned at various points in a booth where the actor sits and delivers their performance, which is then captured at 30 frames-per-second for use in the game.
There are over 400 actors that have been given the MotionScan treatment in LA Noire, each with faces that you'll be able to read for tell-tale signs when you interrogate them. For more on LA Noire, pull your best poker face and read through our first look preview and check out the trailer, which takes you behind the scenes with the incredible technology. LA Noire is currently slated for a spring 2011 release.
