Angry Birds Being Readied for Xbox Release

iPhone and Android owners have been going potty over Angry Birds for quite some time now, but according to Rovio CEO, Peter Vesterbacka, talking at the first Social Gaming Summit in London at the back end of last week, console gamers could be getting their fix soon enough.

When asked whether the title would be going to consoles, Vesterbacka - which is an awesome name, by the way - said that it would be heading to the PSN, Wii and Xbox "for starters."

Those looking for news on a sequel may be disappointed though, as Vesterbacka - seriously, I might change my surname to that! - stated that they weren't going to do one, instead teasing that a "surprise" version of the game telling the story from the pigs' perspective might be on the cards.

He also stated that the upcoming multiplayer will resemble "old school Worms," although those details have not yet been nailed down.

What Xbox and PlayStation owners will get and when they'll get it currently remains a mystery, but if the words of Rovio's CEO are anything to go by, console owners will eventually be able to get their Angry Birds fix sometime in the future.

The problem is, if it does come out it'll be at least 800 MSP. Can you really justify that when it's 59p on iPod and free on Android?

Looking forward to it but i paid 59p for the Halloween one and £1.19 for the original on iPhone I'm going to make a guess this will turn into £8+ on the arcade. Which is a disappointment.

Sweet. But I think they'd have to add much more content than the phone versions since it's free on Android and 59p on iPhone. Either way I'm sure it'll be totally awesome.

I'd still pay up to 1200 for it, same as PvZ, would be worth it in the long run. be interesting to see how they do it without touchscreen tho.

They will need to add something extra for it to be on XBLA. It's a prerequisite that devs do this to get their shizzle on XBLA.

Thing is, that will prob be multiplayer. Which i def wont play! Give us 200+ levels like N+ or Super Meat Boy and it will be worth the 800msp.

My wife loves this on her iPhone.

Though I couldn't remember its name so we call it 'Piggy Squash' instead

#9 the android version already has 169 levels which i think is quite a lot of content for a free game.
Achievements are gonna be nuts though... 3 stars on all levels...

I was excited till I heard the word "multiplayer". Another fine example of companies adding unneeded multiplayer to already perfect games. I seriously hope they don't sell out like that.

Also the reason the android version is free, is because it has ads in the game.

Wow, look at all the cheap people... I would gladly pay $10 for the content that Angry Birds has now on the iPhone because it's a great game, so $10 or even $15 on XBLA won't hinder me in the slightest.

I really can't imagine myself sitting down to play this. It's more of a phone game. Plus, I can see them charging 1200 for it while it's $1 on iOS and free on Android!

It was cheap on iPhone but surely it's obviously going to be abit more as an xbox game? It's not like you're getting the phone version. Graphics will be made better for big screen use, menus will be changed, the soundtrack will need to be made better. It was 59p on iPhone as it was exactly that, a phone game. I'm sure they'll make it a fully fledged console game.

If you don't wanna pay it..don't. And while you're at it don't buy rock band or SFIV just get the phone versions....

@14 I would happily pay that kind of money for it, depending if my kids liked it. PvZ is easily the best 1200 I've ever spent, that game has kept my family entertained far longer than any full priced boxed title. If the kids like Angry Birds, the points spent is well worth the peace and quiet I'll get! :-)
