Director and screenwriter John Milius - the man responsible for spilling ink on movies like Apocalypse Now, Conan the Barbarian and Red Dawn - is not only co-writing the script for THQ and Kaos Studio's Homefront, but he's also co-writing the tie-in novel with New York Times bestselling author Raymond Benson.

Benson has written  two Metal Gear Solid books and multiple James Bond novels, so is well-versed in writing video game and movie-related literature.

"John Milius has already worked with us extensively on the Homefront game, and we’re thrilled to have him and Raymond on board as we develop our near-future world into other types of media," said Danny Bilson, THQ's Executive Vice President for Core Games.

"Homefront represents a fascinating vision of the near-future," added Milius. "After completing my work on the game, it became clear that there were many more stories to tell, and this book will offer a chilling look at this near-future world."

Homefront is due for release in March 2011 and the novel is pencilled in for an early 2011 launch.

Most likely won't pick up the game, but the book might be cool.

Dont these muppets realise that people who play games rarely read books, and vice versa. A movie of a game is usually shite enough, let alone a dull fuckin' book.

@#5 - I read books. I play games. I read game books. I think you underestimate the power of the written word.

@ #5

A lot of gamers read books. I read one every week or two. Every video game novel I've read has been quite good as well. The Mass Effect and Gears of War novels are well written and have a great story. Saying that books are dull tells me you don't value the power of your own imagination. You don't always need fancy graphics and tight gameplay to tell a good story.
