Dead Space: Ignition

Dead Space: Ignition Trailer Shows Comic Book Horror Aplenty

Dead Space: Ignition might look like an acquired taste on the strength of this new trailer for the XBLA prequel to Dead Space 2, but for anyone pre-ordering the eagerly awaited sequel, Ignition will be completely free and for everyone else, there's every incentive to play and unlock an exclusive extra outfit for Isaac Clarke.

An animated comic book prologue to Dead Space 2, Dead Space: Ignition is packed with 'twitch' mini-games like System Override, Hardware Crack and Trace Route, and aims to set up the story ready for the main game's release in January 2011.

Dead Space: Ignition is due out on the Xbox Live Marketplace later today for 400 Microsoft Points. Snap it up and start working towards that bonus Isaac suit!

I'm sure the story will be great but it just looks like an awful game, I'll wait Dead Space 2 instead of trying to get my fill with this crap :D

this looks terrible. this has such a loose connection to dead space 2 that im sure it would work as a separate unrelated xbla title. when i first heard about this i was hoping for something that was like what case zero was to dead rising 2 but this in no way is giving you a taste of whats to come in dead space 2 so i will definitely not be getting it

so i went into gamestop yesterday and asked: so i heard there's a free download code after pre-ordering dead space2 for DS:ignition and the guy said "well people usually get their codes once the game releases" i guess the guy is retarded or something because it would be stupid if you had to wait till the game releases to get your free code anyone know how this works?

I really don't understand how people are hating on this. The trial version literally offers ONE type of the three puzzles. How people are determining the "shittiness" of the full game from a half assed demo, is beyond me.

Considering you can get this for FREE if you pre-order DS2, I don't see a problem at all.

Demo/Full game locks you out of Live. You get kicked offline and can't log back in until you exit the game.

Also, apparently the achievements don't unlock properly.

Not sure I'll be spending $5 on this. I will, however, attempt to get it free by pre-ordering Dead Space 2 once they, you know, actually start doing it.

@#7- Here:

Chief Engineer - Complete all hacks in any single player mode (35G)

Catch me if you can! - Complete one Ignition mode path through the Leaderboards (20G)

Did anyone survive? - Complete Ignition mode. (20G)

Dirty Work! - Unlock the Level 4 engineering suit (10G)

Stop the Clock! - Successfully complete any hack on the leaderboards (5G)

Ain't got time to bleed! - Successfully complete Ignition mode within 25 minutes, excluding movies. (20G)

Trace Element - Successfully complete a Trace Route hack in any single player mode. (15G)

All your Trace are belong to us - Successfully complete all Trace Route hacks in any single player mode. (15G)

Stormed the Core! - Successfully complete a System Override hack in any single player mode. (15G)

Infectious - Successfully complete all System Override hacks in any single player mode. (15G)

Laser Burn - Successfully complete a Hardware Crack in any single player mode. (15G)

Planet Cracker - Successfully complete all Hardware Cracks in any single player mode. (15G)

Can someone clarify what this game is?? cant be 1.6gb for a few puzzles like what you can play on net for free can it??

Only wanted to play the trial of this to get an idea of whats new in DS2, just like case zero (glad i played the trial of that!!)

@22

It's a puzzle game. It's 1.6GB I'd imagine because the puzzles are high res, the cutscenes, although comic-animated (NOT still comic storytelling) is completely voiced over, and the game has a few different paths that change the story.

Not to mention I'm sure that the unlockable Isaac costume is downloaded with the game. :D

hearing it has so many issues I will wait till they are resolved and defo get it!!!

@#9 You must be retarded. Do you think they would give you a code now, so that you can cancel preorder in a month?? He IS RIGHT and they usually give you codes for extra stuffon release day or few days prior if via email...

Don't be calling others names that you deserve to call yourself!

@ 23 - Beautifully put and correct. Any unlockables carry over to the full game and there's 4 paths to take I believe.
I've never really dug animated comics but being this is interactive and Dead Space so I'm surely giving it a shot. It's 400 and not the standard 800. Surprisingly it's EA so I expected a half hour game at 1200MSP. But that's me brutally criticizing EA. EA really only shines with sports products or when they fully cover a product like how DS is Dev'd and Pub'd by EA. I hate when they just tack onto a Dev or Pub like Mercenaries and ruin it. Pure opinion though. Dead Space is a full shot in the dark for EA b/c they've long since played their hand at a Mature game and they hit it out of the park. They should keep this mindset.

Free with pre order seems good. The voice for the guy didn't seem at all to fit the situation, however. He sounds like it's a normal day for him.

@ 30 - Wait until the game releases. I'm sure it will tie in. It acts as a prequel with people on the Sprawl. Just b/c there's no Isaac or Marker doesn't mean it's not Dead Space.
