There are a lot of great games and add-on content on the Xbox Live Marketplace at the moment and there's plenty more to come this month. In all likelihood, you might spend a lot of your Microsoft Points on these games and add-ons anyway, so here's a rather nice little offer that Microsoft has introduced for October (that's this month) as a thank-you.

If you spend 2400 Microsoft Points on anything other than Deal of the Week or cut-price content, you'll earn 800 Microsoft Points back, which is a nice little incentive for you to sign in and spend a few points. Goodness knows there's more than enough to fritter your money away on.

Just buying two 1200 MSP games could earn you enough to buy Sonic Adventure or Scott Pilgrim, for instance. You could almost think of it as a 3 for 2 on XBLA games where the cheapest game is free, if you like. Except the offer also applies game add-ons, so the analogy falls down... Forget it. Maybe nab the new Borderlands DLC, DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue and Dead Rising: Case Zero for your 800 Point rebate. That'd work.

Here's the small-print, and don't forget, discounted and DotW stuff doesn't count:

Eastern Standard Time (EST) October 1 and 11:59 pm EST October 31, 2010 and receive 800 Microsoft Points added automatically to your membership. Limit one gift per person. The free points will be deposited automatically into your Xbox LIVE account after the end of the promotion period. Please allow four weeks for delivery, on or around November 30, 2010."
