BioWare has announced that the next DLC chapter for Mass Effect 2, 'Lair of the Shadow Broker', is on the way in September, reuniting Liara T'Soni with the rest of the Normandy crew as they team up to help her track down the titular Shadow Broker and recover the man he kidnapped.

Chasing a trail of clues from Illium to the Shadow Broker's Lair itself, you'll fight your way through the Broker's agents and gather new research on the shady character in the intel centre. You'll also be able to continue your relationship with Liara if you started one in the first Mass Effect, and gain five new achievements while you're at it.

Mass Effect 2's Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC is out on September 7th, 2010 and will cost 800 Microsoft Points. Check out the four new screens right here, and find more in the gallery.

  • Looks great
  • Can't wait! Liara looks like a squad member too!!! :D
  • Nice! Helps to get the time killed till ME3 comes out
  • Wicked love Mass Effect cant wait.
  • Now this is more like it...better quality dlc it seems. Now the question...does she become a party member (since you can continue this relationship)...or does she stay on the sidelines still.
  • I cant wait looks awsome hopefully its not the last my nerves tingle as i wait patiently for mass effect 3
  • Actual DLC yay! At least it will already be better than the fucking Hammerhead!
  • Time to get MS Points. Other than that the DLC lookc really good.
  • Liara is my favourite!!1
  • can't wait for this, i think i might start the game with another character class when this is released, as i have only been through it as a vanguard, adept and a infiltrator
  • Instant buy!
  • This is a nice birthday present from Bioware. Thank you very much! Day 1 buy for me.
  • @9 Exactly! I hated what they did with her in the main game, I hope this will fix it, ***{ spoiler alert }***. Although it seems weird that she wasn't too close to her friend and was double crossed In the redemption comics for her to really care about him?
  • @ pic 4 silly ragdoll out of my way
  • Getting everything mass effect day 1... and still remain convinced it has the best graphics ever, especially on PC.
  • Woot, a release date! I haven't bought any of the ME2 dlc yet. So that'll be 1920 MS points for the missions now. Ouch. Maybe I should wait and hope for a DOTW drive for ME2 stuff? It's not like I need to play it day 1 anyway. Decisions, decisions. And I really hope this DLC will make some some sense out of Redemption, because that gave me nothing, it was pointless and a total waste of money.
  • GO original normandy crew
  • I feel a bit pissed they keep making DLC we have to pay for, when it'll all be included in the PS3 version with additional hours of content we Xbox360 owners won't get.
  • @18: My guess is that there'll be a GOTY edition for pc/360 with a lot of dlc included as well somewhere next year.
  • @18 PS3 users will be getting an extra intro of some type because they are unable to have Mass 1 for their console. Also *IF* they do get all the DLC with their game (I don't recall seeing that being said specifically, I'd welcome a link) then it's likely it'll cost them the same as it cost PC and 360 users when it was brand new out. Buying the game for PC and 360 at that time and purchasing the DLC seperately would likely cost pretty much the same as the PS3 version or any new GotY edition.
  • I have not played any of the paid mass effect 2 DLC yet and I have still got to get about 2 more dragon age DLC packs aswell. I gonna try and catch up soon. Meanwhile I think this DLC sounds realy cool for one thing its 800 points so there is obviously more content here. The second thing is that you recruit Liara, nuff said. The Third thing is that its possible that this DLC will possibly resolve the ending of the mass effect redemption comics.
  • I hope this just isn't a simple Loyalty mission.
  • looks good can't wait
  • I hope none of the achievements involve romancing here since I never really liked talking to her. The only reason I took her with me all the time in part once was because Adapts were overpowerfull.
  • 800 MSpoints? Hopefully this DLC has some real substance to it then. fingers crossed.
  • 800 MSP, is abit steep. You can buy a very good and long XBLA title with that. I love ME, i just hope that it is actually long. As in at least 6+hours, epsically for 800.
  • All I hope for is that the squadmates will actually say something besides stock dialogue (maybe Garrus and Tali)...
  • Sweet, this will hold me over until I get Reach :)
  • Damn, did they make Liara hotter or something? Anyway, getting this day 1. Coming sooner than I thought--yay!
  • @26 XD dude, most retail games struggle to be 6 hours long these days, 2-3 hours would be reasonable for this. @27 I hope so too, I remember when I first found out Liara was on Illium, I had already recruited Garrus and Tali, so I brought both of them along with me hoping for some big happy reunion to take place, but nothing happened, they didn't say anything to each other, it was like Garrus and Tali weren't even there, that IMO was one of the worst things Bioware did with ME2. Anyway if when it's released I can be bothered to play ME2 again I might pick this up, I have more than enough points, I'll just see how it goes.
  • 800? Huh, in that case, I hope it better be worth it.
  • If ps3 gets the dlc all xbox 360 owners should get a refund it is bullshit we bought the game day 1 and made it popular now ps3 people get it and for free why? It's not a game of the year situation for the xbox which is still gay but that's better
  • Why does Bioware have to choose the date I start college? Not to mention that I won't be able to play till Thursday at the earliest. :( Still can't wait for this though. Guess I should finish my playthrough that has her as my love interest.
  • I dont get why people are so enraged the PS3 gets the DLC included. Its the exact same situation as GOTY editions.
  • I think I made a mess. SOOOOOOOO looking forward to this!!! 800 pts and 5 achievements, there's gotta be some serious meat to this DLC. When in September?!?!?!!? Gah can't wait!! @ 34 Because people will be mad about anything for no reason. PS3 people also had to wait an entire year to get it so yah I don't get the anger either it's pretty pointless. We'll be playing ME3 by the time PS3 folks get wet on ME2.
  • @34 Entitlement complex. That's why.
  • I mean lets face it, the rule has and always will be, those who buy the game later see benefits. They have always gotten cheaper prices, they dont have to deal with the glitches, and if the game is popular enough usually they get some sort of free DLC bundle. Its just the way things work in order for companies to get games to continue to sell well after release. If you want the joy of playing a game when it first comes out then you just have to realize that that joy cost you some money.
  • 800MSP does seem a bit pricey for whats in the description for this. It better have plenty of gameplay time, hopefully it was last longer than an hour, but I doubt it.
  • Day 1 for me. Mass Effect is the best series on any console IMO and any excuse for more is welcome. I actually had a relationship with Liara in ME1 but went with Garrus for ME2 so I will be interested to see if they'll have a catfight over me haha
  • More blue bum maybe? :P
  • @32: You really think they won't re-release a GOTY version for the 360? Or it can just be the platinum version which includes extras like the first Mass Effect. But really man, QQ moar.
  • As much as I love ME, Bioware's dlcs always seem to be overpriced for the content they, or at least the ones I've seen (haven't paid much attention to the latest Dragon Age and ME dlcs). Hopefully, I'm wrong about this one.
  • @29 No, because a blue alien can't be hot ;] Which is why in ME1 I only went for ashley and in ME2 I only went for Miranda hahaha
  • Sounds good, i'm pleased the Mass Effect 2 DLC looks like it's finally taking off after a few disappointments.
  • @32: The PS3 also needs to pay 60-70$ for the game while the Xbox version now sits at 30-40, considering they also happen to be getting it a year later.. all I can say is, qq moar?
  • Ah, so many DLCs. I hope we'll get a collection pack or something like that.
  • Read about it few days agon on bioware's wabesite. I am sorta disappointed that it is $10 all of sudden, but if it twice the length of previous DLC's (4hrs at best that is...) I guess I can give it a shot. Plus I think Liara is the hottest chick in this whole game^^
  • great... i didnt pursue a relationship with Liara in ME1 looks like i might have to play ME1 again, i want to play ME2 anyway where Shephard is the only one who survives lol
  • Can't wait to get Liara back on the battlefield!
  • Awesome! DLC on my Birthday!
  • :') I pee'd a little.
