Crackdown 2's 'Toy Box' DLC Detailed
Written Monday, August 23, 2010 By Richard Walker
View author's profile

Coming soon, the first dose of Crackdown 2 DLC entitled 'Toy Box' will be bringing a variety of different bonus bits and bobs to the streets of Pacific City.

Several new features will be available for free including 'Keys to the City', which follows the example set by the first Crackdown, by enabling a range of cheats to wreak proper havoc without any limitations. Maxing out your Agent to level 6 on all skills will also unlock the new Thruster Ability to help keep you airborne for longer when you use the Wingsuit, or you can use it to get off the ground fast.

The free Toy Box component also adds the new vehicle tag multiplayer mode. Take a look at the free 'Toy Box' add-ons here:

  • Keys to the City: Made notorious in the first “Crackdown” expansion as the ultimate cheat mode, Keys to the City returns to “Crackdown 2” and puts an even bigger set of tools at your disposal, including God Mode, Infinite Ammo, Fly Cam, spawning of weapons, gadgets and more, the ability to freeze the time of day, and pushing all skills to the maximum to become faster, stronger and more lethal.
  • Level 6 Reward: Fans who reach Level 6 on all Agent skills will be rewarded with the new Thruster Ability. Thruster Ability is like having jetpacks for your boots, giving Agents built-in vertical propulsion to activate flying with the Wingsuit no matter where you are in the game.
  • Vehicle Tag: Once you’re done taking down the Freaks and the Cell, join your friends for a thrilling new multiplayer mode where up to eight Agents can compete in these six arenas: Speed is the Quay, Industrial Action, Maim Street, Skid Row, Beachhead and The Sum of Human Knowledge.
There's more where that came from too if you're willing to shell out 560 Microsoft Points for the full, unadulterated Toy Box experience, with new vehicles, new weapons, new Avatar awards and 10 new achievements as well as 8 new colours for your Agent. Check out the full list of premium Toy Box DLC below:
  • Two New Vehicles: Access two new vehicles: the wall climbing aquatic mini-tank called the Agency ATV and the Squad Chopper, which allows four players to jump in and man their own weapon, including the proximity mine launcher, precision rocket launcher, twin machine guns and nose machine gun.
  • Five New Toys: Whether you’re soaring to greater heights or orchestrating a massive explosion, get creative with the following new toys: The Mass Driver (turreted gravity bending weapon), Portable Launch Pads (allows Agents to create their own launch pad jumps), Stickler Grenade (bouncing grenade that sets off smaller explosive charges as it bounces), Thrusters (allow vertical thrust), and Mags on Characters (allow Mag Grenades to be attached to characters).
  • Two Avatar Awards: Deck your Agent in the latest gear. “Toy Box” offers two Avatar Awards to customise your Xbox LIVE Avatar with the Xbox Green Suit (must complete the Rocketeer Achievement) and Green Helmet.
  • 10 New Achievements: Pacific City never sleeps and neither do the exploits. Industrious Agents will be rewarded with 10 new Achievements and 250 Gamerscore:
  1. Beyond the Infinite
  2. Run Get to the Chopper
  3. Rocketeer
  4. Tac Loc Takedown
  5. Burnt Offerings
  6. Mile High Club
  7. Never Give It Up
  8. One Careful Driver
  9. Wing a Ding Ding
  10. Hung Out To Dry
  • Eight Agent Suit Colours: Pick up eight new shades of in-game armour for your Agent:
  1. Peacekeeper
  2. Terror Firma
  3. Agent Orange
  4. May Contain Nuts
  5. Minti-Sting
  6. Mega Agent
  7. Haz Mat
  8. Dem Apples
Keep an eye out for the Crackdown 2 'Toy Box' add-on, coming soon to the Xbox Live Marketplace.

How dare they ask money for the full edition of this DLC? The game wasn't exactly completed without it. Also, new colours? GTFO. That should be free. What a joke.

Sweet, sounds like a decent deal for the paid version. And the new thruster ability sounds good, maybe it will make those stupid wingsuit rings less of a hassle. (Not that they were too hard, I already did most of them, but stopped bothering because they were too annoying to get back to to try again if you failed. Maybe now if we can fly it'll be a lot easier to start over.)

Thruster sounds cool, it would have helped me get the Wingsuit Rings easier, though once you get the hang of it it's easy.

What's up with 560 being the DLC price nowadays? Why can't they make it something even, like 400 or 800, now that we can actually buy points in those amounts...

For anyone who hasn't played either game yet, play 2 first then play 1. That way you won't be disappointed in the sequel since the 1st one is the superior game.

@27: No thanks, because you know they'd bump it up to 800, not down to 560.

Microsoft (and Nintendo) need to just make it like Sony where if you go to purchase something and you don't have enough money, you can just pay the EXACT amount of money you need to complete your purchase as long as it's over $5 (or in this case, 560 MS points).

I'm certainly keen on the thrusters idea. The wingsuit is a nice idea really poorly implemented so it'd be nice to get a boost to it to make it a little more viable. Really got bored of the game fast though :/

See I bought this game, checked the awards and noticed that at least 2 add-ons would be released for this. After thinking about trading it it, I am glad I kept it because this add-on seems to be pretty good. Lets just hope things keep getting better with the next DLC pack.

@36. MORE fun than Red Dead? Wow...really? I have Crackdown 2 and Red Dead but I would never say Crackdown is better than Red Dead....Red Dead has a way better story and more to do....apparently you were playing Red Dead Revolver and not Redemption....Revolver even had more depth than Crackdown 1 and 2 combined...quit smoking that funky green stuff and then you will understand what I am saying.

I agree with #53 I loved crackdown2.. but is was short lived, all of the fun I had was online play.. the story line was one of the shortest that I have ever played.. RDR was a much deeper game.. but both are sitting on my shelf now.. while I wait for Dead Rising 2 and Fallout Vegas!!!!!!!!!

loved crackdown 1 but this was def a fail... most boring, repetitive, and mindless game i've played in a loooooong time.... Bad game+horrible achievements=i aint buyin shit... for those who havent played it the entire game and all its achievements consist completely of "go do this exact same thing a shit load of times"...seriosly... no story, no nothin... only story comes from 80 audio logs "go fetch, boy" seems to be the company motto.

What? Paid DLC? They should give us money instead! What a disappointment this game! Even crackdown 1 is much beter. The story is not good (if you can call that even one), and online is not good. besides was this free dlc not normally in the game when it was released? there difinitely not good at deadlines.

@53: people have different opinions. I'd have more fun with Crackdown 2 then RDR because I could careless about western games. People can be so dumb sometimes :/

On topic, 560 seems a little steep if you ask me. I may just get the free one lol.
