Dragon Age: Origins

Microsoft Details Some of Their Xbox Live Plans for the Next Few Weeks
Written Tuesday, August 03, 2010 By Dan Webb
View author's profile

It feels as if we've been going Xbox Live Arcade crazy today... oh wait, we have - and it doesn't end here, I tell you.

Kicking off Microsoft's fortnightly tradition of firing us the plans for the Xbox Live Marketplace into our already bulging inboxes - that's not innuendo! - we can bring you the platform holder's plans for the next few weeks.

In it you'll notice an extended Deal of the Week that will run for two weeks and sees a plethora of Dragon Age: Origins DLC get the chop, as well some Games On Demand discounts inbound - not that you'll download them anyway.

Plenty to get on with, so here goes:

Avatar Marketplace

August 5: Roxy/Quiksilver

Xbox Live Arcade

August 4th: “Castlevania Harmony of Despair” – 1200 Microsoft Points
August 11th: “Monday Night Combat” – 1200 Microsoft Points
August 18th - “Lara Croft & The Guardian of Light” – 1200 Microsoft Points
August 25th - “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World”
August 25th - “Shank” – 1200 Microsoft Points

You still have the chance to enter to win the “Trials HD – Big Thrills” track editor contest! The entry period ends on August 18, leaving just two more weeks to build your very own track to be shared with the Xbox LIVE community and vie for the chance to win cash prizes up to $5000! Check out www.BigThrillsContest.com for complete rules and details, as well as tips for creating a great track.

Don’t forget – purchase all five Summer of Arcade games before September 1, 2010 4.59am BST, and receive 1200 Microsoft Points for free!

Deal of the Fortnight

Starting August 9th and running through till August 22nd, Dragon Age: Origins fans can pick up discounted Dragon Age goodies in a special extended two week promotion. The DLC and their new prices will be as follows:

“Dragon Age™: Origins – Awakening” – 2400 Microsoft Points and available worldwide
“Dragon Age™: Origins Return to Ostagar” – 240 Microsoft Points and available worldwide
“Dragon Age™: Origins Warden's Keep” – 400 Microsoft Points and available worldwide
“Dragon Age™: Origins” Blood Dragon Red Avatar T-shirt – 40 Microsoft Points and available worldwide

Game Add-Ons (i.e. DLC)

August 10: “Red Dead Redemption™: Legends and Killers Pack” – 800 Microsoft Points
August 10: “Dragon Age™: Origins The Golems of Amgarrak” – 400 Microsoft Points
August 13: “Lips” songs from acclaimed composer Andrew Lloyd Webber – 160 Microsoft Points

Games on Demand

On August 3, enjoy permanently dropped prices on several popular Games on Demand titles including “Assassin’s Creed™” (Ubisoft), “Tom Clancy's EndWar™” (Ubisoft), “Shaun White Snowboarding” (Ubisoft) and more!

Check out fresh additions to the ever-growing Games on Demand library too.
August 3: “Too Human™” (Microsoft Game Studios) – Available worldwide
August 10: “Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X” (Ubisoft Entertainment SA) – Available worldwide

Hmmm, that list seems very hit and miss. I may get one or two of the Dragon Age DLC's, Monday Night Combat, and Lara Croft if it's any good. Other than that, I won't be getting anything till Case Zero on the 31st ^^

@18 Agreed. For some reason I thought that the 5 Summer of arcade games were going to total 5000 Points. In the advertisement on the dashboard before Limbo was released it said 5000 points for all 5 games and if you buy them all by august 28th you get 1200 points back. Maybe I misread it, but I swear i thought it said that.

Nice, today and yesterday I purchased all the DLC for Dragon Age: Origins (expect Awakening, I got it even cheaper than that Deal thanks to Great Britain). Even though I would have only saved 320 MS Points it still was real money once...

Really should have been a separate special deal for the Dragon Age stuff, or keep it to one week. I've been pretty disappointed with the Marketplace recently. I think the last thing I bought was something in the Christmas deals.

Well it doesnt look like i will be adding to my arcade collection any time soon. 1200 points for every game. Fuck you Micro$oft. And anyone who buys a game on demand should be shot instantly. Its the kindest thing to do, it will save them a lot of pain in later life.

Owned. Remember, Gates was sitting in his house and plotting specifically against you. He knows who you are, and he knows what you did.

@ #52

Stop doing that. Breaking the forum like that is as stupid as the morons who post "First!" in the third comment behind the lazy people who post "What is this?" when a game is mentioned that they could easily Google.

Anyway, there are some good titles there, but it's a little disappointing that a lot of them are 1200 points. These titles had better live up to their promise!

-shakes a fist-

Looks like some stores already have reduced the disc for Awakening to $30. I hate it when they use the "deal" as really a way of promotion. Similar to the Braid "deal" recently when the game had already been discounted months ago. Oh well, guess I should be happy with the other discounted DLC.

I'm so taking advantage of all the Dragon Age DLC tomorrow, got all my points ready, Awakening ordered (it still cheaper to buy on disc off online retail like Play.com, its £12.95, £12.95>2400(£20 approx).

@78 it is actually fair, it just pays off to us who wait.
