NHL 11 Soundtrack Revealed

EA has unveiled an extensive list of (mostly) rock music for its NHL 11 soundtrack, with tracks from the likes of The Ramones, The Black Keys and Megadeth making up a sixteen-strong collection of tunes that will be blasted around the ice hockey arena.

Special kudos to the dev team for securing Europe's "The Final Countdown", which we're sure we've heard playing numerous times at hockey games. For the record, we've only been to see the Toronto Maple Leafs play the Colorado Avalanche, but hey, we still know a thing or two about the game of stick and puck with the netty net. Hit pucky puck into netty net with sticky stick, for a goalie goal.

"This year, it's all about authenticity," said Steve Schnur, Worldwide Executive of Music and Marketing for EA. "We talked to gamers and fans about what kind of music they wanted in this new edition, and they said they wanted the feel of a live NHL experience."

Here's the full list of tracks for NHL 11:

  • In Whispers - "Here I Stand"
  • Airbourne - "Bottom Of The Well"
  • Bullet For My Valentine - "Your Betrayal"
  • Megadeth - "Dialectic Chaos"
  • Pantera - "Walk"
  • Danko Jones - "Full of Regret"
  • 2 Unlimited - "Twilight Zone"
  • Black Box - "Strike It Up"
  • Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - "Mama Taught Me Better"
  • Bouncing Souls - "¡Olé!"
  • Darude - "Sandstorm"
  • Dropkick Murphys - "Shipping Up To Boston (Live)"
  • Europe - "The Final Countdown"
  • Foxy Shazam - "Unstoppable"
  • Ramones - "Blitzkrieg Bop"
  • The Black Keys - "Howlin’ For You"
"This is the true sound of the NHL, and the undeniable power behind EA’s NHL 11," concluded Schur. 
 
NHL 11 is taking to the ice in September 2010.

hmm sounds pretty good...still not a fan of two blackhawks for back to back covers...but the new system of checking and gameplay might make it a buy afterall. looking forward to ripping some wicked slap shots and breaking sticks! :)

Custom soundtracks will be making a triumphant return to NHL 11.

The NHL Series has never had the best soundtrack, but I was surprised that I liked many more songs than I thought I would in NHL 10.

yeah the soundtrack has been turned off on the last 3 NHL games from 07 to 10 and maybe NHL 11's sound track might be good enough to keep on.. but we'll see how annoying it gets on the menu screen..

I really cant wait for the game its-self though, cause it will be the best one so far.

ive loved the nhl soundtracks, except i had to turn off kids in america and the green day song. dont know many of these but i have confidence in their choices

Not really digging the metal, but I'm liking Dropkick Murphy's and Airbourne. Good choices there. I assume the DM live song is the same performance that they played at the Winter Classic last year, which is nice.

this is actually the most accurate hockey soundtrack ea has made.

I'll have to add Rock and Roll Part 2 and Bro Hymn, but the other songs are pretty much standard at a hockey game.

I love the NHL series but I always keep the menu music volume set very low... besides one or two songs none that I know... Why no custom soundtracks?

There is some really good music. Can't wait for the game to come out. Toews is on the cover. Two Hawks players back to back. Maybe we'll win the cup back to back.
