Deus Ex: Human Revolution Trailer Takes a Leaf Out of the Book Of Blade Runner

Teased just a few days ago, the Deus Ex: Human Revolution trailer is now here, and it's pretty bloody impressive, boasting Final Fantasy movie levels of CG visual fidelity.

Tearing a page straight from Blade Runner's book - the best book to be taking pages from if you ask us - the Deus Ex 3 video consists of no actual gameplay footage, but gives you an idea of the type of environments and deep story to hopefully expect from the finished game.

Opening with a weird Icarus dream, as the game's hero soars towards the sun, the trailer then shows a Detroit City in 2027, plunged into turmoil amid enormous technological advancement.

It's a fantastic promotional trailer for the game, and if you can pull an enemy's head through a wall and snap his neck, as seen at the end of the vid, then we are most definitely sold.

Expect more from Deus Ex: Human Revolution at E3 2010 later in the month.

  • wow....that was..........jaw-dropping
  • Is looking sick!
  • *state of shock* whats better than epic? that vid trailer its jaw dropping...if the game is anything like the above should be great but will hold judgement until i see Game footage! but that Trail.. epic :)
  • wow, what an epic trailer. I've never played a Deus Ex before but I think I will give this one a shot.
  • Oh. Hell. Yes.
  • Oh wow. That was great. I REALLY hope the gameplay can deliver.
  • Well ive never heard of a Deus Ex game before but that trailer was pretty cool but of course its all about the gameplay ~ Will
  • never played any others, but that was masterful
  • wow........ GOTY ?
  • "You'll never find them", "I won't stop looking". Too epic, might have to give this a try if it comes with a good CE :O
  • Holy hell. That looks AMAZING. Crazy how life-like it looks.
  • German subtitles are THE shiz, yo.
  • Alot put into that trailer. Let's hope they do the same with the game. Amazing trailer btw too!
  • This is without a doubt the greatest game trailer I have ever seen and heard. Got strong Blade Runner and Ghost in The Shell vibe from it. Please Please Eidos, don 't screw this up, keep the gameplay as good as it was in the first game. Don 't dumb it down.
  • All these people saying you've never played Deus Ex -- The HELL is wrong with you? Besides that, I'll be picking this gem up on Steam, I should imagine.
  • Also: http://media1.gameinformer.com/media/video/2010/deusex3/deusex3firsttrailer/deusex3.mp4 In bitchin' high res, full screen.
  • My mind is officially blown. Looking forward to this, hope this gameplay lives up to the previous games.
  • I've been looking forward to this for a long time. Can't wait!
  • A new life awaits you on the off-world colonies, JC! Rather nice trailer, but will it live up to the hype? (I f**king hope so!)
  • I hope they release a gameplay video at E3. This game is going to be incredible.
  • I hope I'm not the only one that got goosebumps looking at this trailer.
  • Sold!
  • could be a good movie with the guy from Undisputed 3: redemption
  • Great trailer. Got good hopes for this game as long as they keep similar elements from the first and don't ruin it like the second.
  • yummy
  • Sounds a lot like Christian Bale, huh? I know it's not him, but I'll imagine it.
  • So I am just curious...why is it in Detroit? I have not played the second one and it has been quite some time since I played the first, So I don't know if there is a connection there or not. But Detroit will never have "enormous technological advancement," plenty of "turmoil," but definitely no advancement. Anyone who has been there in the last five to ten years can tell you that... This looks absolutely AMAZING though....can't wait
  • I Love Bladerunner! Hope this game delivers.
  • I just wonder why on this page it says: Developer: Eidos Montreal Publisher: Eidos Interactive And the first thing I see in this trailer is: Square Enix
  • Fucking sweet. Invisible War remains my most played game to this day. I put a total of like 370 hours into that game between like three separate game saves.
  • @29: Square bought Eidos, but let them keep their independence... for the moment. Anyway, this trailer is awesome, but it was made by Square's team, so it doesn't feature anything from the game's dev team itself.
  • Wow :o
  • Awesome trailer.
  • Looks amazing. About time for a Cyberpunk revival, with this and Neuromancer hitting the big screens next year, hopefully it'll spawn some new Cyberpunk games :D
  • This trailer definitely peaks my interest. I'll keep an eye on this game. Reminds me Ghost in the Shell.
  • @ 26 I'm glad I wasn't the only one thinking of Christian Bale/ Batman while watching this trailer! Looks amazing. I want it!
  • @ 21, no you're not the only one! I hereby nominate this trailer for an Oscar!
  • Sidenote though, reminds me of a cross between Blade Runner and Ghost In The Shell. An excellent cross indeed!
  • @26 & 36 If it's not Christian Bale, then the actor wins the Christian Bale sound-a-like contest lol
  • The original Deus Ex is in my opinion the best game ever made - and I've been playing games since 1989. The sequel wasn't quite as good but its since in my Top 25 of all Time list and if this game is even half as good as either of the previous Deus Ex games It'll be GOTY.
  • I have been waiting for this game forever! It would not suprise me if the main charecter is somehow linked to the Dentons. (I went out on a limb, I know...)
  • Best. Trailer. Ever. This game has the potential to be huge.
  • tht looks amazing!!!!
  • That narration was so cheesy - I was expecting the line 'This city needs me' somewhere in there. I'm really reserving judgement on this one; looks can be deceiving and this could just end up as just another frantic, set-piece shooter.
  • I hope its gonna be deep, with a lot of room for experimentation. I loved that in Invisible war, never played original one, maybe a xbox live arcade hint??
  • That is already such a huge improvement over Deus Ex 2.
  • i want a thrid person game for this tittle never played the first 2 so dont know what to expect but looks GOOOOOOOD
  • I loved the first one, never played the 2nd game and I'm looking forward to this one. Can't wait.
  • OMFG. ITS ABOUT FRIGGIN TIME!!!!!!!!! That was possibly the best trailer ive ever seen, cannot wait to get back into the world of Deus Ex!!!!
  • I still need to play the 1st one. Invisible war was amazing. Can't wait for 3.
  • OMG I loved the first Deus Ex and while the second one was not as good as the first one it was still a great game. This trailer looks fanfriggintastic. I just hope they stay true to the game's original gameplay mechanics and give as a great game that's worth several playthroughs just like in the olden golden days :-)
  • :O. Just :O. Deus Ex 3 is looking...better and better! This trailer has sold it to me lol.. Would love to see a new movie...rather in that quality 3D animation than in live action! Wow where do they get the time to animate like that? And the software and equipment? Sheesh. Sexy.
  • I call G.O.T.Y!
  • @53 your wrong, but epic video anyway, i wonder how it will turn out
  • Sexiest thing I've seen all year
  • I'm more excited about somebody taking another crack at the Deus Ex IP than I was about Fallout 3... and that's saying a lot! Hopefully they can draw off the amazing concepts of Deus Ex and can learn from the things that went wrong in Invisible War. Cannot wait... this is now my #1 most anticipated game.
  • The trailer looks amazing!
  • So when is this movie coming out?
  • That was an impressive trailer. I hope the game lives up to it, as the Deus Ex IP has serious potential for awesomeness.
  • @7 go play number 1, easily one of the worlds greatest games, especially back when it was first made.
  • I have very high hopes for this one, the first two were amongst my favourite games. Please be awesome.
  • I've never played a Deus Ex game but have always wanted to. Seeing this amazing video has now prompted me to go buy the first two tomorrow.
  • Game looks awesome and everything yadda yadda yadda but I can't take that voice seriously as it almost as bad as Batman's so if I did end up getting this game I'd probably be laughing the whole way through, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
  • I fall in the other end of the spectrum as one of the people who has NEVER played a Deus Ex game. However, upon watching this trailer, I shall go to Steam now and buy the Deus Ex Collection to see what I'm missing :)
  • See? It's a good thing Square-Enix pitched in. From my understanding, the CGI videos for Dues Ex 3 is done by the Final Fantasy team... it's obvious in quality of it now. :D
  • Amazing. Simply amazing.
  • looked awesome cant wait... remember playing an older dues ex and it was awesome
  • @27 And anyone who's been to any area of poverty or strife in the last 100 years should know that eventually the land will be labeled redeemable and worthy of gentrification, thus sending current residents on an exodus to some new deadzone...unfortunately. I'll admit it's a leap, but it's been done before and it's still happening. Next stop, West Oakland! Also, I believe the 2nd game sent you to Seattle, Cairo, Switzerland, New York (briefly) and Antartica (or Alaska).
  • My favorite game video for the year so far. I hope combat can come close to how entertaing that was, like actual finishing moves with that arm blade, rather than only being able to swing left & right 'till enemies fall down.
  • serious 3 things hit my mind when i watched trailer on my xbox 1. HOLY FUCK ITS EIDOS!!!!!! ( bring back GEX games and the Legacy of Kain:Blood Omen and Soul reaver games to the next gen ) 2. i forsee much weapon coustimization wth the whole robotic arms and crap 3. graphics and fucking amazing
  • wow!ace trailer,i loved deus ex 2 on the xbox,i think it had like 5 different endings, hope this is good aswell.
  • im going to sum this up in three words Oh hell yeah!
  • What is everyone spinning their heads about? It was ok... but its already been done before so meh :p
  • I played Deus Ex Invisible War and I really couldn't get into it. There was too much to do with very little direction to help you. This, however, looks incredible. On the other hand, they're just cinematics. If the gameplay any more impressive than this I will DEFINITELY get this game. I love RPG-like FPS.
  • Absolutely amazing!!! I cant wait!
  • I remember playing the sequel Dues Ex on the Playstation 2 many many years ago. At that time the game play was very new and innovative for a first person shooter type genre. You had many choices of how you wanted to play and achieve you mission goals. It left quite an impression & many fond memories. This looks pretty epic to me and I'm thinking it may be similar to the choices you got in the Mass Effect franchise and beyond. I'm stoked to learn more about this game!
  • This looks awesome - it better be as good as Deus Ex 1 and 2. The story line was amazing in those games.
  • not sure but i think the narrator for the trailer is gerard butler from law abiding citizen.
  • WOW......I didn't like that at all. Sure it looks pretty good, but the main character looks like a twat and I'm hating the whole robotic arms thing. It reeks of prototype to me, and I hated that. I don't get any sense from that trailer that it has retained much from the previous games. I'll still give it a shot, simply because of how much I love Deus Ex: Invisible War, but it'll be a rental for me at best, not even that if I can borrow it from a friend.
  • There is a lot of awesomeness going on in this trailer!!! Am I the only one who has never heard of this franchise? I now feel like something has been missing in my life.
  • WooooHoooo EPIC-NESS can't wait
  • I'm waiting for the day when gameplay looks like this. Lol. Maybe that day will never come.
  • this game... looks fantastic... i'm relaly hoping to see some gameplay footage by atleast the end of this year
  • Is this a game or a movie? I cant even imagine how I would go about playing it!!!
