Just because Treyarch is on development duties for forthcoming CoD title, Black Ops, that apparently doesn't guarantee co-op support for the story campaign, despite its previous Call of Duty effort, World At War featuring full support for online co-op and local splitscreen play.

Instead, Black Ops will include separate unique co-op multiplayer modes that will allow up to four-players to get together and blast away.

When asked by MTV Multiplayer Blog about the planned co-op modes for CoD: Black Ops, Treyarch Studio Head Mark Lamia said, ""Single-player is the epic, cinematic, seat-of-your-pants thrill ride that you star in. Then there's multiplayer, when you want to play competitive with your friends and really chisel and hone your skills and do that addictive experience. And then co-op is for when you want to have a blast with your friends, just sitting on the couch and having an awesome co-op experience. We're crafting unique co-op modes around that experience, but it is different than what people think."

Lamia also went on to confirm that the modes wouldn't be in the same mould as Modern Warfare 2's co-op Spec Ops, stating helpfully that: "it is different than Spec Ops."

And when asked about the potential return of the Nazi Zombies mode, albeit with Vietcong or Commie undead hordes, Lamia declined to comment, affirming that the co-op modes will be unique and of course, every developer's favourite word du jour - "awesome".
