NHL 11 Getting Canadian Hockey Teams Thanks to EA and CHL Partnership

EA and the CHL have announced a four year partnership that will see the three regional leagues - the Western Hockey League (WHL), Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) - all appear with their teams and players fully represented in NHL 11.

That's 51 Canadian and 9 American teams with players aged 16-20.  47% of the NHL's players from the 2009 draft came from the CHL leagues, making it the number one provider of talent to the NHL.

"The CHL is very excited to partner with an industry leader like EA Sports to create a brand new way for CHL fans to associate with their favourite CHL teams and players," said David Branch, President of the CHL. "This opportunity also provides EA Sports fans around the world the ability to learn more about the next wave of NHL stars as they compete in the best development league in the world."

The 2010 NHL draft may also be the fourth consecutive year that a CHL player has been selected first overall and four of the last five players to be star on the cover of NHL games are CHL graduates.

With the EA and CHL deal, the Mastercard Memorial Cup will now feature in NHL 11 and the 60 teams will tie-in to Be A Pro, Be A GM, Tournament Mode, Season Mode and Playoff Mode.

NHL 11 is set to slide into stores this September 2010.

Yay! More teams! I really don't see the point in getting any sports game every year, to be honest its the same every time. Now I skip one year, I got NHL 09 and now will get this one.

Sounds good! League diversity is something that has been kind of lacking with the previous NHL titles... Something to do with the fact that they're called NHL perhaps lol

That being said, I'm sick of the multiplayer achievements... There are just too many of them

Yes finally! I always wondered what EA was thinking having more European leagues than North American leagues. All this game needs now is the ECHL and the GM mode will be truly awesome. Day 1 buy for sure.

Just another reason to buy this game. For the 5th straight year. Not counting all the others since ESPN hockey. And Blades of steel '99 for the nintendo 64. Hoping to be in the next game if they keep the chl teams in there.

wow I wish i was still a teenage hockey player so I could say I was in an EA sports NHL video game! Wonder what this will do for the sport as far as kids being familiar with players names a lot earlier in their careers than they would usually be known.

I don't usually grab the NHL games, but this might be one to watch. I heard 10 was amazing, sounds like 11 will be amazing too... EA is really stepping up their sports games!

@Goblin Techies - The reason EA has more european leagues then North American is because they are alot better then anything AHL and under. KHL being the second best league in the world(thoguh they don't have it in the game anymore) and Elitserien and SM-Liiga are also of a higher standard then AHL.
And, the NHL franchise sells alot more in Europe(Sweden, Finland, Russia and Germany mainly) then in the US
