Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands

POP: The Forgotten Sands Gets Forgotten Dev Diary

Ubisoft today released the fourth dev diary for their recent/upcoming title, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands.

It seems the recent dev diary release breaks the trend of dev diary, dev diary, launch trailer, which is why we've nonchalantly labelled it "forgotten."

Cheap and amusing monikers aside, the fourth dev diary focuses on the game's story and setting, whilst answering the age old question: why is there so much water in this game, seeing as it's set in the desert?

Not read our review yet? Check it out now. Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands is out now in North America and out tomorrow in Europe.

Most of the times we get this before the game is released:p although it came between the US and Europe release date.

@#2 Thats because WW was for an older audiance so he was to look more, well cooler. Aside from that yeah his new pface is pretty poor.

this game genuinely upsets me with its very existence, how far one of gamings best franchises has fallen. the last time i enjoyed a TRUE PoP game was doing all the QTE for that epic but insanely annoying final boss on two thrones... good times :'( :'( :'(

@2 He's younger and fresher in The Forgotten Sands than in Warrior Within, seeing as it falls before then in the PoP timeline.

I've heard a lot of gripe about how his voice in this game doesn't fit the character...it sounds very similar to the guy who did the voice in PoP: Sands of Time, meaning the voice, to me, fits better than any other voice they could have come up with.

I love the game and thinks it deserves more credit than it's getting. It's not the best PoP but it's certainly not the worst in the series, with all of them outranking that sad excuse that carries the Prince of Persia name in 2008.

Ugh, this is why they should have stuck with the 2008 PoP.

At least the combat was slightly interesting in that one.

@ #10 The game is fine... People are too stuck up these days and if they don't get that same feel they want from a game, they deem it bad. The story is actually fine despite popular belief. It is predictable, but it's supposed to be, early on you realise what is going to happen and that you can't stop it. It's more about redemption than anything else. The characters are fine and the voice acting is up to par. The puzzles are paced out well... (progressive difficulty) and you will get stuck a few times. I don't think it's so complex that you can break the game though, (like in Warrior Within if you don't do things in the right era you're blocked off from the rest of the game) but I do here there are some bugs that impede your progress. The combat is the biggest downfall... I won't say there

was the same amount of variety as there was in WW and T2T, because there isn't, it's just that all the movies you can do... just don't seem anymore powerful and effective as putting on stone armour and hacking away with power attacks. The achievements provide you do use other methods of offense though.

In saying all this, after completing the story, getting 1000G and playing the story again, there is no replay value. So I did take it back to EB and put the money down for my pre order of Blur. Even though I took it back, it's still a game worth playing and loving.

@ #11 so its good for a rental and nothing more? Cause if so I'm gonna return it and get Red Dead Redemption or Alan Wake instead. Thanks for your input.

Bought it on ebay for $29 its awesome! I recommend it highly even though i wish they wouldnt have tried to cash in on the movie and made a sequel to 2008 Prince of Persia.

I enjoyed the 2008 PoP, hopefully they'll continue that arc with the next installment in the series. As long as they ratchet up the platforming challenge, it'll be fantastic. And they can't really continue making "interquels" for the Sands of Time arc.

And Nolan North is by far more enjoyable to listen to than this prince's voice actor. Ugh.

@ #14 good for a rental yes, but in our case that we already had/have it, so just finish it then take it back. Unless you MUST have one of the games you mentioned right now. Though I think it would be silly to buy it, not play it, return it, get RDR or AW, then rent it later.
