Pure Football is Ubisoft's arcade footie title, where the rules don't matter and anything goes. Obviously, the basic rules of the game still apply, but feel free to shoulder barge or slide tackle the opposition into the turf. The referee won't care. If there even is one.

New screens and a gameplay trailer have been released for the game, and when we saw that the title of the trailer was "Feel the Fight" we thought we were in for a real treat. Bone-crunching tackles, pained expressions, boot studs in player's eyes, shinbones popping through skin, elbows to the ribs are all things you might hope to see in the trailer, but don't.

Instead, it's all a bit wishy-washy, with nothing half as bad as what you'd see down Millwall way on a Saturday. Gentle nudges, slightly cynical lunging slide tackles and at best, a swiping shove is about as violent as it gets. We've got to say, we've had worse scraps with our little sister.

Still, this is a game for all ages (hence the PEGI 3+ rating), so perhaps it's a tad unfair for us to expect Terry Butcher-style head wounds and snapping bones.
