Well at least there will only be one this year, as Activision closed Red Octane earlier this year (along with a few other studios + layoffs). But I agree with #3, GH 5 was pretty good with the only bad thing being that it had TOO much variety with the music. Hopefully this one will stick with Rock music. |

FIFA 06, WC06, FIFA 07, CL07, FIFA 08, Euro 08, FIFA 09, FIFA 10, 8 games between Dec 05 and Oct 09, is one game every 5.75 months.
GH2, GH3, GH4, GH5, Band Hero, GH Greatest Hits, GH Aerosmith, GH Metallica, GH Van Halen, 9 games between April 07 and Dec 09, is one game every 3.55 months.
In fact last year, between May and December, a 7 month period, they released 5 (FIVE??!!) GH games (GHM, GH5, Hits, VH and Band Hero). One game every 1.4 months.
FIFA doesn't even come close :) |

As for Guitar Hero...can't really say I care. Not trying to start a huge GH vs RB war here, but I really think they messed up by not jumping on the DLC train more quickly. By which I mean, DLC that works and transfers over across all main games, and exportation. I know someone would have countered with "GH did DLC first" which, they technically did.
I just feel like I'm too invested into RB as a series to really pay much attention to its competitor at this point, not to mention that with so many songs the variety keeps pulling me back anyway. I really hope they do something cool with this game - the avatar support almost had me get GH5 - but I'm not really counting on it. |

There is 1 reason to be unhappy at the news of GH6, for anyone who is still a music game fan. Any decent songs that turn up on GH6 that haven't been on any other music game yet - just means we're less and less likely to see decent songs repeated on RB. I know they double some songs up, but there must be songs they can't get because of GH and vice-versa. I'm sick of the split

I highly doubt that GH6 will feature ONLY Kiss, otherwise it would be called GH:Kiss durrr.. They will simply most likely feature as playable characters with 1 or 2 songs like GH5, Band Hero and World Tour. And Kiss are HELL of a lot better than 95% of the playable bands from GH5/BH/WT.
Who cares if you don't like GH anyways, it's not like you HAVE to play it, so why do you? Same goes for Rockband, I don't prefer it, I don't play it. Simple. |

"Guitar Hero" went downhill after "World Tour" was release. The first three GH games and Aerosmith were good. The new ones suck! Why in the hell would you add drums in a GH game? And what sucks about the GH series is the name! Really don't name a game "Guitar Hero" if the other player is going to play drums! That’s why we got "Rock Band"! and the idiots who made this series made "Band Hero" How come they can't just name World Tour "Band Hero" and instead of GH: Metallica and Van Halen just called it BH: Metallica and BH: Van Halen and just rename GH 5 to "Band Hero 2"

I'mma try not to fanboy on Rock Band's side, 'cause the franchise is slowly stooping to Activision's level (six Rock Band titles, including Green Day and Rock Band 3, though still nowhere near as bad as the 'Hero' franchise), but this is getting ridiculous. Activision could learn a thing or two from Harmonix. Over one thousand songs released as DLC with thousands more to come through the Rock Band Network, the Guitar Hero franchise has no chance to survive
In the case of tl;dr: Activision should just release DLC for Guitar Hero 5 and stop there.

This should be DLC, not a seperate game. Guitar Hero needs to take a leaf out of Rock Band's book. Its getting to the stage where its just absurd now. |
