Come Get Some New Lean, Mean EA Sports MMA Screens
Written Friday, March 12, 2010 By Richard Walker

Check it out - sixteen new EA Sports MMA screenshots have come out of the gym today, glistening with sweat and spoiling for a fight.

So far, we've mostly seen pugilists grappling, punching and kicking seven shades out one another, but this musclebound batch of shots show fight entrances and the huge arena venues alongside the usual array of bone-crunching fight pics.

EA Sport's Mixed Martial Arts game is looking like it's starting to get into shape for its release later this year.

Headbutt the link to get to the gallery. On second thoughts, just click it.

In all fairness, how different is this going to be to UFC? Barring a ring instead of Octagon, and different fighters (and the obvious fact it's made by EA not THQ) I can't see much difference. The graphics looks the same as UFC, which correct me if i'm wrong also has it's sequel out THIS YEAR?! THQ doing to UFC what they did with WWE, yearly releases are NOT needed for Pro-Wrestling OR MMA! 2 yearly releases with patches, DLC, updates every 6 months? I'd be chuffed with that!

Hmm..... like how there is appears to be blood unlike UFC, and entrances too.

But I don't know just yet, for the moment my alliance's will stay with UFC.

I think mma is kind of like street racing and pro wrestling. It had it's moment and now it's kind of fading off leaving only the die hards interested. At any rate if it's on ea's servers good luck staying in a match.

@5 I agree, maybe not every two years but maybe every 18 months.

They could do new fighters/wrestlers as DLC or extra ring gear/ settings. Would be alot better and that way the shops wouldn't be flooded with preowned copies 3 months after release.

Think WWE games have promised DLC for their last two releases but am not sure if any came to fruition. Besides I don't buy them anymore as I grew out of it and also they shot their load with the N64 games WCW/NWo revenge, WM2000 and WWE No Mercy.

@5 Also the EA MMA game has an octogan (or variation) as well as the ring.

See the first screenshot, you can see the chain link fence in the background.

(Sorry for the double post)

I dunno, I think I'm with Dana White (prez of UFC) in saying that EA is just jumping on the bandwagon. If you watch the interview with him or read EA's past remarks on the matter, you'd know that they said they wouldn't be doing an MMA type game and that MMA wasn't an actual sport. Hypocrites and money hungry as thy are, here comes a copy of UFC's game, in my opinion of course.

@7 What are you on about? It's well known it's the fastest growing sport at the moment? I'll admit i'm a Diehard MMA fan and have been for years, but seriously, it's not dying or even losing fans anytime soon, i'm not saying it won't at some point, but not for a few years, UFC are getting the biggest PPV buys (bigger than Boxing or WWE), and there last events with Lesnar both did more than 1 million buys, for the Countdown show for GSP vs Dan Hardy the other day, that did more than 1 million viewers, and thats just a program showing how the fighters prepare!

@12, did you ever play UFC 09 online, my god the lag was awful, made it unplayable, EA will make it at least playable

@14 if anything EA will make it worse...especially around launch time..no matter what EA game comes out, when you go online within the first few weeks you cant even play because the entire server is down...just look at Bad Company 2

@6 WTF are you talking about? There was plenty of blood (but not too much) in UFC Undisputed 2009.

This game is crap.

@7...MMA is far from dead my friend. You want to talk about a dying sport, try boxing. Manny Pacquiao arguably the best boxer on the planet (not best fighter, see Anderson Silva for that definition) fights tomorrow night, and there's hardly been any hype. I'll take GSP vs Hardy over Pacquiao vs Clottey, as what will be the better fight. Boxing's best chance was a Pacquiao vs Mayweather fight, and they failed. There's more to MMA then UFC, and it will be cool to see guys like Fedor and Jake Shields in a game. Hope EA's servers can handle it... (yeah right)

Apparently the "leaving only the die hards" was lost in translation

This dude above me has got to be living in his moms basement still to not know that MMA is the fastest growing sport right now. So if a sport was dying why would it be on the verge on signing huge broadcast deals on CBS and ESPN?

I hate EA, but I might get this game solely for the fact that it has Fedor in it. Now, I am not saying I will $60 for that, but I will pay $15 for it in 2 years at Gamestop.

This game blows, just another release from the EA cash cow, my money's with UFC 2010. If what I've read about new features, etc all work fine and dandy, in my opinion the next UFC will kick this games ass.

@12 If you actually think this game is going to be good then you have something seriously wrong with your head...get it checked out.

It's pretty clear its going to be shite. EA doesnt give two shites about making it good, people will see MMA and get it.

From the screenshots I have seen on here the graphics are also going to be..you guessed it... shite.

On par with some 9th grade computer design project.
