DiRT 3

DiRT 3 In Development At Codemasters Racing Studio
Written Friday, March 12, 2010 By Richard Walker

Codemasters Studios Vice President, Gavin Cheshire has revealed that work on DiRT 3 is currently underway at the firm's racing game studio in Birmingham .

Cheshire confirmed the existence of DiRT 3 in an interview with Edge magazine, telling the publication, "There’s some great stuff coming from Birmingham that’s going into DiRT 3, and obviously you’ve seen Bodycount."

Bodycount of course being the latest FPS coming from ex-Black creator, Stuart Black.

Cheshire also enthused about the pride that Codemasters has in being one of the top British studios, stating, "It’s about the culture we’ve created and making the best games you can. DiRT 2:brilliant game but it’s all American accents, so maybe we’re a little over the top with those. Maybe we should fly the flag a bit more."

Whether that means drinking tea in your trailer between races or moaning about the rain, remains to be seen, although Cheshire goes on to say that the team need to keep innovating, declaring that they're coming up with fresh, new ideas for DiRT3, "Because if you don’t innovate, you’re dead."

Good news about a DiRT 3. Love this franchise ! I'm surprised that there aren't more rally games for the 360 tbh.

I loved DiRT2 but it was really too American. I want more rallies, I want jungles, gloomy forests and desert. Not Los Angeles or Tokyo... I bought DiRT, not GRID.

I love DiRT 2 but I don't play it as much as Forza 3 because I feel that DiRT should just have proper rally events instead of the other stuff.

Dirt 2 already? Wow wasn't expecting that. Loved Dirt 2, and I really hope there are more rally races in Dirt 3 as that was the only thing I missed in Dirt 2 compared to the first one.

DIRT 1 & 2 were quality games but they catered more for the yanks in dirt 2 (should be more rallys & classic cars) .. plus is it just me or did ken blocks voice get really annoying??!!

Looking forward to DIRT 3 tho

Both of the first two games were average racers, and pretty boring tbh.

Unless they actually implement a decent gameplay and physics engine then it'll be another miss for me.

Played the first one, big step up from the old PS2 days. Was extremely impressed and still looking at picking it up pre-owned. Not played DiRT 2 yet, but if it's as good as 1, i'll probably grab that as well. Rally games are few and far between, or at least GOOD rally games!

Yet again another top notch UK developed game X-D

Although it seems unlikely, I hope they go back to what made the first DiRT game great. 2 was good, but it felt like a drastic change over the first one. I missed that whole Colin McRae Rally style gameplay.

I hope their will be snow race and raining race this time , cause in real rally its not always sunny. get rid of this x-game shit and do a real rally game.

Well, given that Ken Block just made his World Rally Championship debut in Mexico last week, and he's basically becoming the new face of the series, it seems like a perfect time to focus more on the Rally aspect once again.

Dirt 2 was terribly supported as far as DLC went. The good news is, there is still a lot that can be improved and added to the series. How about weather effects? I'd love to see run and the formation of mud. How about snow environments as well? More vehicles would be nice too this time around. Greater vehicle customization is a must this time. Pretty much keep the same gameplay but give the presentation a Forza makeover.
