Guessing they'll be from their most mainstream albums, with some held back for DLC.

This is another game (RB:Beatles as well) that my wife will be interested in. It's minor details, but seems more fun when I can get her involved in my gaming.
I do not have RB1 or RB2, so all of the Green Day songs will be new for me to play. Also, not all of us are tired of music games so do not think that you are talking for ALL gamers when you say music games are dead. |

I absolutely love comments like this. Do you have any experience in that industry at all, more specifically in the marketing aspect? Probably not. You don't know crap about how much it'll sell.
Just really started checking out the band's non-Dookie/Nimrod stuff, as well as the rest of American Idiot. Had to avoid that album like the plague after all the emo kids kept playing Boulevard everywhere to the point you bleed to death through your ears. Most of it is really good. I'm looking forward to this, even more so since RB3 was more or less confirmed to have vocal harmonies. There won't be many with 'em at the start, so more is always nice. |

The "Green Day: Rock Band Plus" throws me off a little - 47 tracks to boot, plus 6 tracks as DLC? - I think I have over half of their albums, and I'm not even sure I can sit down and jot roughly half of those numbers as "must have" tracks - at the very least, all the radio singles plus videos, but then that's only a dozen songs? Maybe a dozen and a half? . . . (I mean, I was shocked to find out just how many Beatles songs I knew and loved from the get-go, without ever owning a Beatles album myself, but - this definitely strikes me as a "hardcore fan" choice) . . . much as I love music, I'm more intrigued to find out what songs they choose, not whether I like those songs or not. |

Vocals - this is probably the only reason to get this

On the other hand, Green Day hasn't been "punk" for almost 20 years now.
I'm not trying to bash on Green Day, it is what it is. They have alright music, but I just can't see them being worthy of creating a band based game, or having the instrumental talent to make this worth getting. This game is entirely a cash-in, rather than Harmonix trying to push the bar and quality of their franchise.
This really should have been a $20 track pack, rather than a stand-alone. |

The only way I'll ever buy another band exclusive GH/RB game would be if it was a complete package. If it featured a band I liked, and the entirity of their back cataloge, I would snap it up in a second for standard retail price. I don't see how these band specific games get away with charging full retail price for just over half the ammount of songs you get on a main series release. |

Jimi Hendrix is next on the RB to do list i believe, read a source earlier in the year that it was expected at the end of this year. They also have RB3 for this year, so a busy year for them all round
If this is as fun as the beatles RB i will get it. I love old Green Day, and it will be great to play even if its just for those songs to be honest. |

Why is Rock Band going the same route as Guitar Hero is beyond me.
If they don't want to turn away their fanbase, I suggest they stop with this crap and just stick to DLC. Rock Band 2 was good, there is no need to improve it by releasing RB3.
The Beatles Rock Band was worthy, but now having more band specific releases is just going to tick off fans because of the oversaturating releases.
I really hope neither Activision nor Harmonix ever wonder what happened to the music genre after it has died down. |

I'm pretty sure they had a news update on here where someone came out and said that the rumors about a Jimi Hendrix Rock Band (or Guitar Hero, whichever one) were false.
And also, people should stop bitching about what's getting released. Not everything will cater to everyone. This will probably cater to a ton of people not on this site.
Overall, it's the matter of business and what they get from it. They want money, it's what they do. Ultimately, not everything you want will be released. It sucks, but then stop spending money on stuff you don't want. |

i understand the competition between GH and RB but, both begins to be sad at my eyes. i've always played Guitar Hero instead of RockBand because i'm a guitar player so the gameplay of GH is, IMO, way better than RB one's. both games are cool for the drums (gameplay) but i do not own a drum, sadly. If i would do, i would take the Guitar hero drum because he's better built. RockBand DLC songs are so better than guitar hero tho, my hate is there. I like RB songs(lot of metal), but i like GH gameplay. can't i get a fair deal somewhere? I would be a RockBand player if there would be round instead of squares, if this could be an option this would be great. The perfect solution would be a Guitar Hero Metal, but i know i dream, damn.. |

All the haters obviously don't get the music genre of games.
Its GH that has spammed the market with turgid shite whilst harmonix have so far released track packs for those that are not online.
The two other games Lego RB catered for the family market as RB lyrics are adult bands and Beatles had so much love lavished on it you cant even compare it to any of GH sub par band titles.
As for the choice of Green Day, they are obviously one of the most request bands by Harmonix request system, so they are given the public what they want. |

only 20 years running a Gamestop store so i don't know what i am talking about at all. these games do not sell new anymore, people wait and pick them up used when they are cheap as hell. The only time they sell now is when people who have never had a system before and buy one are looking to get started, then they are looking for the whole band kits for RB and GH which we don't carry anymore since Band Hero is out. so i don't know anything at all just ignore me completly. |

I apologize for the diatribe but...
This isn't old school guitar hero guys, its Rock Band so anyone bashing the "easiness" of the guitar parts solos is ignoring the fact that there are vocals drums and bass too.
The vocals should be fun as Green Day songs are inherently catchy and singable too - not like those shitty Interpol , Dino Jr. and Sonic Youth songs.
The bass will be interesting but not that hard (unless they include Panic Song from Imsomniac) but the drums should be very challenging at Hard and Expert. People who have no musical talent with real instruments often ignoring the fact that some of these punk/pop drummers are really talented musicians - Tre Cool included.
Also, while not everyone may like Green Day, they have been a very successful rock band for 16 year |

Why is everyone saying bad things about this game? Can nothing please you people? It seems nowadays all people want is constant blood and gore and boobs all coming at them on a video game....grow up people. |

i will prob ask for this for my bday(2weeks after it comes out) cuz im a huge greenday fun but i just havent really played rb much since i used to play it non stop so i dont really wanna buy it myself. i really loved rb and gh but they definitely have been slipping down my interest list for games. as for the ppl talking about things like rb slayer or metal, im pretty sure that would never happen. if they did, that would definitely be a much harder game than any they have and i just dont think they would put out somethin like that. if they would think about somethin like that, i would believe that they would at least have put out more metal dlc than they already have. |
