Separate Xbox 360 250GB HDD Removed From GameStop

Richard Walker

You may remember that yesterday GameStop listed a standalone Xbox 360 250GB hard drive for $129.99.

Well, now the retailer has removed it from their site, replacing the link with a "Sorry! We tried, but we just couldn't find the page you were looking for" message.

Looks like GameStop either made an erroneous listing or jumped the gun on the 250GB HDD, but either way, we'll keep you posted.

GameStop had previously submitted the HDD as available for pre-order with the product shipping on March 23rd.

  • Well that's dumb.
  • Damn; got my hopes up for nothin'.
  • Got a 60gb to replace my bulging 20gb was gonna get a 120gb but not for the price micro$oft charge, at least that price sounds reasonable bet it wont stay that price when they really release it, especially when u can get 1TB HDD for PCs for bout £80.....
  • arrrr man, in my opinion this is where the ps3 is at an advantage with the option to replace the stock HDD for one that can hold upto about 1TB WIN!
  • Well crap. Hopefully they just jumped the gun on the listing. I don't really want to get a whole new console just for a bigger HDD
  • Hopefully Micro$oft will pull their fingers out stop being such tight asses... I mean come on, other consoles are shipping with bigger HDDs now and they need to pick up the pace. Besides 250GB for $129.99 compared to the 1TB PC drives for like £40 in the UK...anyone else screaming about the "whole lotta money for sod all" rip-off that MS HDDs are?
  • Lol...sucks if it doesn't come for the people that want to buy it.
  • wow... just as I was hopin microsoft had pulled just 1 of many things out there arse, so what do they do? shove it back up there..... queers
  • This doesn't mean they won't still release it. It is ridiculously overpriced I think. And as for ps3 HD switchout, you can't do it in a slim without voiding your warranty.
  • They better start releasing a 250GB HDD !!!!!
  • Oooops Daisey!!
  • @ #3 - eBay. I wound up getting a 60GB there for $25. Great condition and the owner somehow left Hexic HD on it so I got it cheap and with a free arcade game.
  • Looks like they will be bring it as a stand alone item soon then, instead of only releasing it with bundles
  • It's going to happen. Gamestop does this all the time by posting stuff before they are suppose to.
  • @14 I agree, this is almost becoming weekly news with gamestop.
  • You know you can get one on Playasia for 159.95 Japan and Europe are for sure getting it and those are compatable with the US systems. Link on Playasia : http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-eo-77-1-49-en-15-250+gig-70-3qlh.html
  • Hey guys, I don't understand.... I've got a 250 GB disk since Xmas.... and I bought it on a asian site for 70 euros.... 129 is too expensive no ?
  • I'd consider getting one from Play-Asia, but I've heard that the disc for the transfer kit won't work if you're trying to transfer from a 120gb HDD to the 250gb. Can anyone confirm this?
  • How the hell does Microsoft justify charging 129.00 for a 250gb hard drive? You can buy a good 320gb-500gb hard drive for your computer or laptop for less than $50.
  • #14 is right, GameStop does this nonsense all the time. You think they would friggin' know better by now. ... Then again, it's GameStop. They still haven't learned to stop gutting games either.
  • guys, it is still listed in the system the. i work at an EB Games/Gamstop. don't panic.
  • #19 i agree they are rearly overpriced but the reason they cost so much is becouse of the xbox specific stuff. my frend had his 360 attached to his 1tb external network drive but he said it wasnt fast enouth so the $50 hd probably wouldnt do the job but still 250 gig seems a little stingy
  • I knew it was too good to be true!
  • you know you could get 250 gb hdds on deal extreme like 3 months ago. There out of stock now, I believe they were western digital drives formatted to the xbox OS. They were like $85.
  • gutted
  • While still overpriced compared to PC Hard Drives, you still do have to admit, for a 360 hard drive, that its a damn good deal.
  • I guess they were made to remove the listing until the sales of the FF and Splinter Cell super elite bundles have passed.
  • i have a 250gb so for me ya no worrys ebay it up people you will find what youre looking for i got the cod system for like $360.oo
  • I agree with weffalump, I work at a GameStop and I know at my store our DM has been pushing us to get reservations on those special edition bundles. So obviously they'd rather have a $400 sale then a $130 sale. And @20, what do you suggest besides us gutting games? We don't want them stolen, and we lose enough cases as it is by dumbass kids taking them thinking it'll have the game in it.
  • @29...i agree about gutting. there's not a lot of options for us. we have to gut games cause a-holes steal them
  • i have a 20GB since 3 years and it stills do the work perfectly lol
  • Tha problem with gutting games is they're not NEW! That's why I just go to Best Buy if i want a NEW game.
  • @32 We dont gut every single copy of the game dude we only gut one of each to show its in stock.
  • Have the 120gig, its called finish the game and delete the content :)
  • @31 same here. i have like 200+ RB songs on it too. if the price is ever reasonable, ill upgrade. for now, 20 gb is just fine.
  • @29 I work at a Gamestop too - What we do for New Releases is we put up the display boxes. We'll take the cover art for new titles, put a price tag on them and put them in the shelf with ONE gut copy instead of 4, 5, or even 6. More sealed copies means happier customers, yeah?
  • @34 Bro you're forgetting DLC. The game data plus DLC can add up to a lot. And certain games like Madden, require rosters or etc. which also take up space, and if u want to play online then you cant delete it. ^_^ hope i made a good point
  • went to gamestop today to put the ff13 elite on reserve and asked the guy that waited on me about this he told me that it was a mistake but he also told he thinks that it will eventually come available as soon as more elites with 120 hds sell and that more then likely 250 will become the new elite wich mean that hd will then be available seperately he told me that still have lots of the holiday bundles and in his opinion that as soon as the splinter cell conviction elites are released and sold maybe a month or 2 after that to start looking for the changes
  • I'm sure this link got yanked because Microsoft secretly pushed back the date on releasing it so they can sell more of the Splinter Cell Conviction 360 bundles. Since they added absolutely NOTHING custom to it (it looks exactly like a regular Elite!), the only reason anyone's going to buy that 360 is for the bigger HDD.
  • @21: i bet that tomorrow, after the system has "polled" it wont be there. if not, then itll likely be gone within a couple days, the system just hasnt adjusted it yet until it updates tonite. p.s.-i used to work at gamestop too...
  • Hopefully it's gone from the store, or any store, forever. NO 250GB STANDALONE HDDs KTHX MICROSHIT
  • How about a 500GB HDD for 100$? and why haven't they put a built in wi-fi yet? cause they want money...
  • Kind of weird that a 250 GB hard drive was 129.99 when they released the 120 GB hard drive for 149.99 doesn't make sense to me
