EA Sports Active Coming To 360
Written Monday, January 25, 2010 By Richard Walker

Superannuation have posted a link to a developer CV that details work on the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of EA Sports Active, clearly indicating that the jump-around-in-your-living-room-a-thon will be available for Project Natal.

Sean Quinn's resume shows that he acted as Lead Programmer on the forthcoming title for Xbox 360 and PS3, which you can see for yourself here.

So, you'll finally be able to prance around your lounge and get in shape when the game launches for Natal. Details on a release date are not yet forthcoming.

Couldn't I just jump around my living room right now. For free?

I think it's pretty cool. I have a feeling if done properly this will blow the Wii out of the water though. I personally already own the wii (for my kids) and it sucks... But I can't waite to see what microsoft has in stores for this.

This is why I got a Wii. The Natal aint worth it imo. Plus you'll look so stupid talking and waving to some made up character or yourself on the tv.. Again I think these companies should leave this motion stuff to Nintendo as they are made for this kind of stuff.

itll have to be extreamly well made to pull this off, and with EA's track record its gonna burn before it can hit the shelfs

@ 3
I hope you are right about it blowing the Wii out of the water, because my first thought when I read this was, "I don't enjoy jumping around with my Wii, why would I want to do this on the 360?"
I figure natal will either be really amazing, or total garbage.

First achievement: beat the game without using Natal... name of the achievement? Lazy Power Gamer

I have this on Wii, and it's a pretty decent game for home fitness, works up more of a sweat than Wii Fit.

...also, do those complaining about waving about etc realise this is a fitness game?...you're not going to lose weight and burn calories sitting still.

Also, it's pretty childish to just write the Wii off as only being about waving about. The good games for the system are definitely much more than that.

I'm lucky in the sense that I have all 3 consoles, so I'm not having to defend the 1 console I have and sign off as a fanboy, I can appreciate all consoles for there individual accomplishments and exclusive offerings.

natal will win the motion sensor war the PS3 looks like a giant snow cone the the wii i hate the fact thats it 2 separate controllers and the sensor sucks at a new level it sucks as much as the first hulk movie.......

i lent my wii to my cousin when i got the 360 that was roughly 2 years ago and truly i dont care . i get it back for Brawl RE remakes and mario.

but if anyone can answer this : HOW THE HELL WILL NATAL SUPPORT FPS i can imagine it but then i think the camera the bloody camera then i go berserk and rant about the PS3 (which i own) would have been a perfect BBQ XD

@4 - So it seems perfectly normal for you to do it on the Wii, but with a lump of plastic in your hand?

I'll just game on my couch, if I wanted to dance and jump around, I'd go to the gym or the club, thank you very much.

Not the most concise CV I've ever read, perhaps these Games Devs/Programmers aren't so hot with paper based presentation.

On an altogether more serious note, I'm sure all those identity fraudsters are now laughing thanks to so much of Sean Quinns personal info now available to anyone!

@10 - Only games I've ever played on the Wii are SSMB and mario cart. I use Gamecube controller for SSMB and Mario kart. So... The Wii is used my sister mainly and I just laugh when she uses the Wii Fit and is jogging on the spot and doing tree pose's..

@4 - Why are people so worried about looking stupid in their own living room? I really hope no one is that concerned about their image. If its not fun, that's a whole different story.

If Natal is successful, I'll wager that the 360 "active" games will be somewhat if not greatly superior to Wii's based on hardware capability and what not. I never jumped onto the Wii fan bandwagon based on the fact they don't have many AAA titles that warrant a purchase. I can only bowl or play tennis so much before it gets old.

as soon as I seen the word active, I thought ffs its that natal crap...AGAIN, seriously tho, the only people who are gonna buy that are people who have hyperactivity, an EXTREME obsession with xbox (and need some sort of counselling), and parents buying it for their little kids and secretly want to have ago. All this based on the wii, which in my opinion is utter crap.

@#8 good attitude. I'm also in the fortunate enough position to own all three consoles. I don't understand all this fanboy stuff (I do realise I'm on a 360 site btw). One negative in owning all the machines: constantly broke from buying too many games!

Have to agree with #8 and #19: having all three consoles is a wonderful thing. For example, right now I'll say that I wish that Nintendo and Microsoft handled their currency additions to your account the way Sony does: if you buy something that costs more than $5, you can pay the exact amount you need to to get the content and leave no leftover money in your account like you have to with Nintendo and Microsoft Points.

Also, Wii and PS3 need custom soundtracks like the 360 has (although I see this being much harder to do on the Wii).

with all this jump around natal bussines, i wouldnt be surprised if people broke there TV, tables and legs...
the wii is abit more controlled, you dont have to jump around like a looney and with the wii board its confined...

Monday, January 25, 2010 @ 11:42:03 AM

why are people thinking natal will be a fail?

its way better than the wii, i own a wii, played it like 3 times

all i can do is bowl or play tennis, i got some crappy ninja game and its horrible, i tried need for speed its fun a first then wears off after a few races, wouldnt mind getting mario kart tho,

but the fact is ppl like the whole motion censored thing and natal is going to be better than the wii because you can do whatever the wii can do with good graphics, awesome games, and without all those ugly controllers

#3, this is an ea game. Not microsoft. I don't think anyone should have been surprised by this announcement either. It wouldn't surprise me if they announced an ea active2, complete with more "workoutness"

Sure, everyone could use a little exercise... but wait till people with polished wood floors or hard objects in the vicinity show up to the hospital... :D Just like the girl that tried to recreate the Rock Band commercial (or was it Guitar Hero?)

This is why I sold my Wii. Too many shitty gimmicks. Why pay when you can exercise for free...?

16 and 20- Love how your idea of a constructive statement is "Natal=fail" good effort. You deserve a gold star. **Please note the sarcasm
Wii wont have anything new out by Christmas their console isn't as diverse and upgradable as the 360 is.
34 - The whole exercise thing is true, but its more for people who can't afford to go to he gym, or spare the time to go run around the block. Also, its a step into the future, exercise is one thing, what about the FPS, RTS, RPG and Hack-em-slash-em titles that will be made? Those cant be done for free in real life, unless you wanna go to prison or the loony-bin.

I mean, you can run around calling yourself Altair or Ezzio as much as you like, or make up something stupid like Ra'oul Aljafeef and call yourself a Mage/Rouge, but I dont think society would react quite so well...

Good thing they are developing this technology, what with the Wii showing that most motion-sensing gaming is but a passing fad. If you've got a Wii collecting dust, you know what I'm talking about.

The Wii version's really good. Makes you work very hard. Fucking hurts after a long session of squats and whatnot. If they can use Natal to remove the PITA of the leg strap/nunchuck connector cable that currently plagues the Wii version, and include a resistance band that can actually resist anything it could be brilliant.
