Next Week & Next Next Week's Rock Band DLC Announced
Written Thursday, December 24, 2009 By Dan Webb

Seeing as half of the whole world (or at least the vast majority of the games industry) is on leave for the Christmas period till well into January, we're bringing you a double whammy Rock Band Music Store announcement containing the next few weeks' downloadable songs.

Next week (29th) sees the return of yet more country, including Kenny Rogers and Shania Twain as the “Going Country Pack 02” hits the store. The seven song track pack can be purchased for 880 points or you can buy the songs individually for 160 points each. These songs were originally part of the Country Track Pack but now will be available as DLC.

The first week in January sees Sir Paul McCartney make his debut as a solo artist in the Rock Band Music Store with three songs off his latest live album. Called the "New York City 01" pack, the music is taken from McCartney's recent live gig at the New York Citi Field which attracted 120,000 attendees over three historic nights. The track pack will cost 440 Microsoft points, or 160 points a track.

December 29th:

  • Alan Jackson – “Good Time”
  • Cross Canadian Ragweed – “Cry Lonely”
  • Jason Aldean – “She’s Country”
  • Keith Urban – “I Told You So”
  • Kenny Rogers – “The Gambler”
  • Martina McBride – “This One’s For the Girls”
  • Shania Twain – “Any Man of Mine”

January 5th:

Paul McCartney's "New York City 01" track pack includes:

  • “Band on the Run (live)”
  • “Jet (live)”
  • “Sing the Changes (live).”

I'll definitely be picking up the McCartney tracks. Couple songs by him I hope they release eventually but not a bad set. Also might get The Gambler.

Martina McBride's song is one of my girlfriend's favorites. I hope she doesn't catch wind of it being on Live or I'll be buying Rock Band.

why dont they call it rock/country/pop band. i thought it was called rock band for a reason but guess not. the only thing here that i would consider getting is the gambler. thats just cuse old school country is kinda cool. new country kinda blows.

Definitely getting the Paul McCartney stuff, and maybe The Gambler. Otherwise not really into the country stuff in Rock Band.

I am very sad, because I expected the Pantera releases to appear.

I have read somewhere, that they should be out in 2009. Anyone care to comment on this?

It ammuses me when people complain about content other than rock gets added to Rock Band. You don't have to buy and play these songs, but it does add to the variety. More choice means a better all round experience.

As for these songs, I dunno, I'm prolly not gonna get any but I'll have to see.

Yes, this is the suck. If it's live McCartney, the "Maybe I'm Amazed" from Wings Over America has always been prime, but it looks like these are from a more recent, and therefore more tepid performance. Yeah, I enjoy "The Gambler", too, but you'll realize just how shallow and limp a songwriter Kenny Rogers is once you plod through it. I'm not opposed to some country being here, though something like Marty Robbins or Johnny Cash or Merle Haggard scores as legendary American music whereas this is mass-market pabulum. Poor choices, lazy.

More Music is always good, no matter what it is. I love McCartney but i will not be buying these. I hate country but others like it. I Guess this week is for them.

People should really stop being selfish assholes. This all good stuff here like it or not.

#25: These 7 songs are already available for Rock Band, there's nothing new this week that wasn't already available through the track pack.

Glad to see them getting some McCartney stuff. "Band on the Run" is a good start. Hopefully this means we'll start seeing solo material from other Beatles as well.
