Would be like Lost Odyssey. You got the whole world on each disk but cutscenes (with I think will take a lot of space) are only on the disc where they appear in the story.
Probably there are also some areas like Eden Prime in the first one that u can't revisit.
Hopefully this doesn't run into "many missable achievements" lol |

Maybe play a tutorial with very long setailed cutscenes.

I was gutted as January release is during exam season, but my exams finish before this comes out. And I can't wait. I'll probably end up getting one of the stupid extra editions with bonus crap, just cause I love Mass Effect so damned much. I look forward to this greatly. |

| This will probably function like Legend of Dragoon did with the first two discs. Disc two was able to read everything disc one had, but it didn't have some of the weaker monsters/older cutscenes. |

@15, well you can technically still install the discs like you do with any game. It's just saying you'll still need the discs in the 360, which means you'll still need to swap them out.
So in other words, you can do what I'm going to do...install just so the xbox doesn't sound like a bomb, engine, etc...lol.
2 discs...well call me wrong, but that tends to mean the game is lenghier...other than the exception of Infinite Undiscovery, games with at least 2 discs; I'd say, tend to contain a decent 50+ hours of quality game play, easily. |

I didn't have a problem with RE4 on gamecube.
Disc swapping is fine if it's included as part of the story.
I'm swappin discs all the time between teh 5 or 6 games I play. |

@#38- Thank you! You took the words right out of my mouth! People don't realise how stupid they sound when they say that the 360 should have Blue-Ray...keep dreaming! Blue-Ray is a Sony product. Microsoft would have to be sniffing glue to pay Sony for parts to their systems.
On a side note, the developers have said multiple times that this story will be about recruiting new team memebers for a "suicide mission". It seems obvious that the first disc will be the recruitment part of the story, and the second disc will be the actual mission you prepare for... |

| It's funny how people complain about Disc Swapping. Probably the same people who Praised Final Fantasy 7,8, and 9 because it was so lengthy it needed multiple discs. Yeah Blu-Ray is nice cause it holds so much, but its not like there asking you to swap discs every 15 minutes. Calm down and if it is that bad then don't play it. I loved Lost Odyssey and Switching disc felt good because it felt like I was getting somewhere in the Story. I hated Mass Effect at first, but after giving it some time I fell in love with it and have beaten it 3 times and have both DLC. I'm looking forward to ME2 so much. 2 disc = AWESOME! |

@ 38 & 67: Sony does not own Blu-ray. It is a part of the relatively large group of companies on the board of the Blu-ray Disc Association, but it is not THE owner of the format (http://www.blu-raydisc.com/en/about/SupportingCompanies.html). I have no doubt that all consoles (except maybe Nintendo's) will use Blu-ray discs in the next generation.
On topic, this is awesome. I like the fact that this game is going to be big enough to require two discs, but I wish they would have an installation option that would allow you to have the entire game on the HDD and not have to worry about the disk-swapping. I'm still gonna get it though, because I know it's gonna be AWESOME. |

I think people need to remember that WRPGs are LONG... and one being on TWO discs? REALLY LONG. Like, imagine a two-disc Mass Effect 1... that's practically a guaranteed 1.5x+ longer agme.
JRPGs are amazing too, but them having two+ discs is to fit five bajillion cutscenes :P |

| They'll probably have something like you save then pop the second disc in unless they find some way that you can eject the disc without ruining your system and without stopping the game itself, which I find unlikely as this would probably be a wide open door for hackers. |

As for blu-ray, hahah, yeah funny joke. Nobody needs blu-ray, its a waste of money until the players drop a good $100 or so. Only people complaining about needing to swap a disk now and then must be 300 pounds and such a thing really is a chore for them. |

How many people are whining about having the swap the damn disc in this thread? Seriously, so what if it's two discs whats the big problem? They stated you swap the disc ONCE in the whole damn game if your that lazy you can't get off your goddamn arse and changes the freakin disc then DON'T BUY THE GODDAMN GAME.
This game will be epic in many proportions, it will be GOTY 2010 & 2011 (It's that epic it spans across 2 years) and in 2012 we will get Mass Effect 3! |

| If you can't install this game somehow, your 360 will surely die after or during all that gameplay. The NXE allowed you to install games so your system wouldn't overheat and fail as fast as before. I'm worried... |

The same way I heard Dragon Age and ME1. Ignore the sound. In all honesty, it isn't that annoying, and its a VERY monotonous tone. You'll filter the sound out without thinking about it. Seriously, the ONLY time i notice the change in noise levels is when I go from an uninstalled game to an installed one, of vice versa. The sounds still exists, and either way, it isnt that annoying. |

I can't wait for ME2 but I don't see why some people are actually typing things like "this is now a definite pre-order!" WTF? Two discs = better game? Eh?

I have no doubt in my mind that at least the next console generation will all use Blu-Ray. Just because PS3 uses Blu-Ray does not mean that Microsoft won't. Thats like saying that a band will not put their album on CD but instead a casette tape because they are a competing company.

I don't mind disk swapping at all, as long as I don't have to go back to previous disks(looking at you SO4).
I would prefer multiple disks instead of having to compress things even further or cutting things out. I just hope the inventory system has been improved beyond the PC enhancements, and that there is less pop in. |

ONCE.
No different than deciding to play Mas Effect 2 instead of MW2 that exact moment.
You will have to remember which disc to load later int eh game which might cause problems for some of the great thinkers on here. |

| Too bad it wasn't on PS3 as well, would have been on a single disc. I don't think it will be a big deal, but I don't like the multi disc idea. If they knew it would be too big for simple Dual Layer DVDs then they should have devised an efficient way to make it work. 2 discs is fine, but I bet you will forced into a part of the game on disc two that you can't escape from. Which could be pulled off, but it sounds like they will force into a region without contact to some of the content on disc 1 |

I can't wait :D, reminds of the good old days of Final Fantasy games for the PS1 and PS2. One more disc and i'm finished with Lost Odyssey :], then back to my third playthrough of Mass Effect.

| Now that I think about it, I am not so disappointed by the 2 disc idea. Dragon Age couldn't fit on 1 DVD and the textures were not very good compared to the computer that could download all the info onto the harddrive or the PS3 that had a lot more room on those Blu-ray discs. |

| 2 Discs = a pain in the ass? How do you figure? Just get to a certain point and have to switch to disk 2 ( probably after a big mission ) and never need to switch back again unless starting a new game i'd assume. Jesus people will always bitch about something... |
