Capcom today announced that Final Fight: Double Impact would be hitting the Xbox Live Arcade in April 2010.

Final Fight: Double Impact offers gamers the chance to relive memories of yesteryear in HD by bringing two classic games to the service in one neat package.

The package houses both Final Fight and Magic Sword, two side-scrolling beat em ups that saw the light of day in 1989 and 1990 respectively. Each title will be playable in their upgraded HD glory or can be played in the classic and arcade cabinet modes. That's not all, expect leaderboards, online co-op and even a brand new soundtrack.

Final Fight: Double Impact is due on the Xbox Live Arcade in April 2010. Check out the newly released screenshots in the gallery here.

Not familiar with the originals? Then take a look at their short synopsis below:

"Final Fight: Double Impact is a dual release of two classic arcade side-scrolling beat-em-ups. First up is Final Fight, where players follow the heart-pounding adventures of Cody, Guy, and Haggar – three heroes fighting their way across crime-ridden Metro City in hopes of saving Haggar’s daughter from the evil clutches of Mad Gear. There are 6 stages filled with perilous challenges where the only hope for justice is the unique fighting techniques mastered by each character. With the news released last week that Cody and Guy will both be playable characters in Super Street Fighter IV, Capcom fans now have the chance to take a trip down memory lane and experience these characters in their first appearance before playing them in the new Street Fighter game."

"In Magic Sword, users will take on the role of the “The Brave One,” a fierce warrior who bears the daunting responsibility of cleansing evil forces from an ancient tower. As a consequence of his actions, he will inevitably meet the source of this scourge upon humanity – the dark lord Drokmar. But fear not as the hero is accompanied by eight allies who will lend their assistance through out the game. All of them bring specific skills and talents to contribute to the fight. It’s an amazing side-scrolling action illustrated in classic fantasy stylings, making a perfect pairing with Final Fight."

I remember beating Final Fight on the SNES when I was like 17. With limited continues that was a tough game. I wouldn't have the patience nowadays...

HD glory? Looks like a filter to me. Bring on "HD Glory" like SSF2THDR, I'm looking at you Capcom. Give us some value for our money, not a cheap emulator. I'm guessing this will be 1200 points, same as SSF2THDR - I can see the work gone into that game, why not here. Would sure explain the 5 month wait time.

Final Fight is just awesome, but getting another game (and a good one, too) with it is nice. I just hope it's not double price now.

Heck yeah! I can't wait for this. I never actually played Magic Sword, but I've heard it's a good game. I hope they release Final Fight 2 and 3 soon after!

I had Magic Sword for SNES. Played the original in MAME years ago. It's a good game, should be awesome to play in HD. Final Fight doesn't excite me though. Certainly not after playing The Warriors (console version...obviously).

Magic Sword is one of the best co-op fantasy beat-em-ups ever, especially since both players can get their own tagalong helper. I'd say Cadash is better since it actually supports four players, but that game has pretty horrible pacing issues.

Final Fight - about time. I hope we get the sequels bundles with other Capcom classics further down the line.

@16

Un Squadron and super ghouls and ghosts would be awesome.

It will be interesting to see how the quality of the HD-upgrade will be. Nevertheless, I doubt the double-set will cost more than 1200 MS - a fair price for the two games even if the HD-upgrade would suck. Great idea to put the classic graphics in a cabinet view!

Final Fight is one of the most important beat 'em ups of all time. It sparked a huge cloning tends (much like Street Fighter 2 did for versus fighters)that was extremely apparent in the console and arcade scene from the early to mid 90s.

As much as I like having a second game included I think Magic Sword doesn't deserve the spot. It had a SNES port and was featured in the Capcom Classics Collection a few years ago on the PS2.

Capcom should instead have given the spot to either Armored Warriors (a mech beat 'em up) or Battle Circuit (the spiritual sequel to Captain Commando) - both of which are better games than Magic Sword and both of which have never been availible to play outside of the arcades/illegal emulation.

Super Ghouls n Ghosts was announced back in summer for an XBLA por

Also, UN Squadron will never be on XBLA because it is based on a comic series and that means Capcom has to pay someone for use of the liscense again. Same goes with Alien vs. Predator, The Simpsons, The Punisher, Bucky 'O Hare, Dungeons and Dragons, X-Men Arcade, and the dozen or so more classic beat 'em ups that are based on pre-existing liscenses. Consider yourself lucky you got the Ninja Turtles games.

Super Ghouls n Ghosts was announced back in summer for an XBLA port but I have heard nothing since about its status.

Wow looking at these two games brings back memories of going to the arcades after school to play these games before they were even brought to the concoles. Its like being a kid all over again love hagar and cody wasnt really big on guy though.

Some fighting games id like to see added to xbl are art of fighting 1,2 now that would be a prize
