Skate 3 Interview, Jason DeLong, Senior Producer

Skate 3 Interview, Jason DeLong, Senior Producer
Written Sunday, November 15, 2009 by Dan Webb

At the beginning of the month EA hosted their Winter Showcase in the UK, an event where the publisher hustled all their upcoming games under one roof and let the UK press go to town on them. And to town we went.

Over the coming week, you'll see content coming at you from all angles from the event and today we kick off the proceedings with look at Black Box's Skate 3. By now you should have checked out our hands-on preview, but now's your chance to see what Senior Producer, Jason DeLong, had to say about the title.

Please dont ruin my favourite series!

The way it's going, Tony Hawk will be producing the fifth one!

Id like to see them sticking to strictly skating like in Skate 1, without all these new game modes and stuff to make it seem like just another Tony Hawk game.

Thats just my opinion and we'll see when it gets here. Ill be getting it the first day anyway because im a huge fan

I got the 1000 and 1500 in Skate 1 and 2, so I'll be looking to add this to the list.

PLEASE do not fall into the Tony Hawks trap! If this series starts to get over the top then I will lose interest in it. I dunno what to make of the multiplayer though, I enjoyed playing single player by myself and the multiplayer with no teams...

i dont see why people hate the tony hawks series, its only video games so is it not better being unrealistic than realistic. dont get me wrong skate is awesome but i dont think tony hawk should get flamed. =]

#8 - If you go back and play a few of the Tony Hawk games in one session, you will realize how much they "Maddened" it. I played a few of them recently and it really makes you realize how groundbreaking Skate was. Tony Hawk just added 1 new feature every year. They tried not to make an amazing game and it's obvious. They would add just the bare minimum of new gameplay tweaks, so they could use the other ideas they had to do the same exact thing next year. Now, it does seem that Black Box is doing the same thing. Most likely by EA's urging, in my opinion.

Glad to see people agree with me about the direction it's going in. Hope they dont over do it.

@ 8. I dont think we're really hating on Tony Hawk games. They're the skating games we all grew up with and loved. They were fun and arcady, unrealistic, but fun. No one really saw what you could do with a skateboarding game until skate was released. Skate and Tony Hawk have 2 completely different games, if people are like me, we just want to see the skate series sticking to i'ts roots.

Screw Skate, this is Tony Hawk all over again, just in a different generation. Now I'm going to get some high school dropout who loves skating criticise me for not praising an over-praised game.

This is going to be a great game. The only reason i can see ppl having problems with it. Is if you are only playing for achievements and you don't like multiplayer.. This game is probably gonna be mainly MP achievements.
All i know is ive 1000 1500 so looking for another 1000 on this 1 and then keep playing it for a long time.

starting to look way to much like a tony hawk game. "hesh" and "fresh"? skating the side of a tractor maybe? and now the city isnt combined, its all made up..

Downloadable content - achievements or no achievements - will you buy it with or without them?
If the content is good, or for a game I love, I'll buy it regardless of whether chievos are included
I'll still buy and play the downloadable content, but achievements would be nice.
Who the hell cares!?
No achievements, no sale ... and that goes for any game ... whether you're GTA or Halo!
Just stop with the DLC achievements full stop ... you're ruining my completion percentage dammit!
