Report: Natal to Hit Stores in November 2010 for Under £50
Report: Natal to Hit Stores in November 2010 for Under £50
Written Wednesday, November 11, 2009 by Dan Webb

MCV are reporting this morning that Microsoft's Project Natal is currently slated for a November 2010 release and that the peripheral is to roll out at the low-low price of £50.

MCV's sources divulged details after a super secret behind-closed-doors tour of Microsoft's UK campus, which apparently wasn't so secret. Publishing sources also tell the site that Microsoft are "trying to get as close as possible to 'impulse buy'" by selling it on its own for £50, with some even suggesting that it could even be as low as £30.

Microsoft are said to be readying 5 million units for its launch that include both console bundles and solo units.

It is thought that there will be 14 games ready for the game's launch and it's likely that these titles will be from Microsoft's first party studios; Rare and Lionhead for instance.

Either way, £30-£50 seems like a great price from my standpoint... and that's coming from someone who doesn't really care for motion control technology. For that price, I'd be willing to at least try it though!

How about a Natal and Fable 3 simultaneous launch? I'd bet my left testicle on it.... then again, maybe that's not the wisest of ideas.

Looking forward to trying this out. Will get one of the bundles to replace my launch console. Fable 3 will be interesting with natal as well.

Rare i love them! From rare it think the games will be Kameo, Vina Piñata or Banjo kazooie.. and from Lionhead i think it will be Fable 3.
but i thought Halo:Reach will be a Natal game too.. doesnt it sounds fun to strange a covenant with only your hands? or bitch slap you best friend at GTA... pure love

This means there will be another 360 price cut most likely. Drop the Elite to $250 then make a new bundle with NATAL and make it like $329.99.

Wednesday, November 11, 2009 @ 06:53:21 AM

November 2010 - the month when the Wii finally kills the 360? Kind of bervous about this. I don't want to flail around all over the place like a nutter, I am out of shape, very lazy, and play in quite a small room. I really hope that devs don't try to cram some Natal support into every game. Or, even worse, into the achievements. Remember the camera achievements? :( Hopefully Natal will be reserved for party games only.

Wednesday, November 11, 2009 @ 06:53:23 AM

webb, thats a large bet, did you consider possible future delays before betting your left testical?

I can see this as being impulsive and it sounds abit right. but im not completely sold on natal just yet...

What a bargain

Wednesday, November 11, 2009 @ 06:59:43 AM

Bargain? yes
will i buy it? no

i wanna play my games with a controller like a real person and not a flailing idiot. When the MLG starts using natal, then maybe; until then, i'l keep playing standard.

Wednesday, November 11, 2009 @ 07:03:56 AM

After the initial rumour of Natal costing the same as a new console this is certainly much better news. For £50 i'm sure the vast majority of gamers will grab hold of one. Touch wood it's not a rumour and we'll get a great bargain for what looks like a superb piece of technology :-D

Wednesday, November 11, 2009 @ 07:07:39 AM

That might be an indicator that the quality COULD BE not as high as the intial thought as well, I'm just saying.

Wednesday, November 11, 2009 @ 07:19:18 AM

Doesn't sound like a bad price, but I'm not interested. After getting home from work I rather sit down. Or if I want to pull an all nighter playing a game, having to move around would be to much.
I sure hope they don't do Fable 3 for Natal, my wife is super exited about that game to come out.

Wednesday, November 11, 2009 @ 07:21:14 AM

I was never planning to get this, but for £30-50 I'll certainly think about it.

Wednesday, November 11, 2009 @ 07:24:37 AM

Haha, their marketing worked.
When it's that price I'll bite.

Could be not bad, but I still hope that for normal games thy don't try to force you into using it.

Wednesday, November 11, 2009 @ 07:30:24 AM

Was going to get anyway even if it cost similar price as a console. So to hear of it being as low as that, then the rest of what I thought it was going to cost me can now go on extra games! Noice!

Wednesday, November 11, 2009 @ 07:38:35 AM

It's a fair price then, I'm sure I'll buy Natal then expect if it would turn out to be a disaster which I doubt.

I will get this just for FPS and racing games... oh and skating games. Guitar hero may be good on it but I dont think will work well or might end up not getting used for it.

Wednesday, November 11, 2009 @ 08:07:30 AM

I'll probably check it out for that price. That should translate to about $60-$75 U.S. I still hope that Microsoft doesn't try to twist the arms of developers to include support for Natal in every game, however. The types of games that appeal to hardcore gamers require precise controls which motion control does not provide.

Wednesday, November 11, 2009 @ 08:25:21 AM

Id say wait at least 6mts for them to work out any bugs before jumping into this natals deal. microsoft dosent have a solid track record of reliable products aka their 360. after having to replace my console 3 times in 5yrs for 3 different reasons id wait IMO. there has not been any quality products microsoft has made for their 360.

I just got a feeling this will be a let down until they can prove other wise it will be worth 50 or a 100 even

I think I may have just dirtied myself upon hearing that news.
This means there's actually a chance that I could possibly afford to buy one the same decade it comes out! I was expecting it to be more in the £400 region.

Wednesday, November 11, 2009 @ 08:37:36 AM

At that price, I honestly think they will have persuaded me to fork out for it. I don't even really want it, but that just screams bargain. I was expecting over double that!

At least their impulse buy tactic seems to work.

Wednesday, November 11, 2009 @ 08:38:30 AM

Wow, may actually get this now. As long as you can still play sitting down though and it actually works (unlike some crappy Wii titles I've played).

I'm hoping you can use the camera as an Xbox Live Vision camera so I can finally get all those "Put your face in the game" achievements and play some Totemball.

Hmmm....I think it's a bad sign that they feel the need to price it as an "impulse buy". That makes me think it might not work exactly as advertised. We'll see though, I'll wait for some reviews and maybe a Gamestop kiosk demo before I decide to get it or not.

Wednesday, November 11, 2009 @ 11:42:54 AM

I'm glad to see it will be fairly cheap. I still think they may need to give it away in order for me to ever use it! I have a Wii sitting beside by 360 that hasn't been turned on for about a year! The whole motion controller thing is way over-rated for me. The last thing I want to do after working a 10 hour shift is to come home and jump around like rabbit in order to play Fable 3.

I'm gonna stick with the ole controller in hand. This is for the more tech-savy(a.k.a. geekier) generation that is in high school and middle school now. I'm more into the classic quality that was provided for us during the the super nintendo and N64. Thats when games were made for the gamer not for profit like the majority of companies do now like Bungie and Activision. I wish more people would appreciate companies like Rare and Ubisoft for what they put out. I made a game with zombies in it is an indie game for a buck and yet it is better than 95% of the retail and arcade games because it is about making a purely fun game not making a game good enough to make a shit-ton of money.
