Capcom Unveils 4 New Super Street Fighter IV Modes

Capcom Unveils 4 New Super Street Fighter IV Modes
Written Friday, November 06, 2009 by Dan Webb

Worried that Capcom may just rehash the same Street Fighter IV from this year with new characters and call it Super Street Fighter IV? Admittedly, we were. Thankfully, that's not the case, or so it seems.

Capcom's Community Manager, Seth Killian, has posted a new video on the Capcom Unity blog showing off 4 new game modes. The new game modes include:

  • Team Battle.  Team up with your friends (or strangers) to take on all-comers in 2v2, 3v3, and 4v4 formats, and more!
  • Replay Channel.  Record, watch, and save matches, or watch how everyone else is playing on one of a variety of streaming match "channels."
  • Endless Battle.  Play in arcade-style "winner stays, loser to the back of the line" lobbies.
  • Bonus Stages.  Crush the car and smash the downpour of barrels in a test of skill against the clock.

As usual, actions speak louder than words, so check out the latest video below showing off all these modes.

@robertit, you can't pick this back up...this is an entirely new game. SUPER Street Fighter 4. Last I heard it's coming out next spring...i'm just trying to save you some trouble of going and getting the original Street Fighter 4 and then being disappointed. and I agree, they do look quite cool.

@#5 well they're supposed to have some bonus(es) in SSFIV for users who own both games...but it's definetly a good idea to warn him.

Nice to see epic Bonus modes' return :)

I still don't know why it took them this long to add a Replay channel. Even DOA4 had replay capabilities upon launch, as do many fighting games these days; it seems like it's a standard. =/

Gimme Create-A-Fighter and I'm in. Glad I didn't bought SFIV @ release because I knew this was going to happen...
If CAF is not on, I'll wait til Super Street Fighter IV Turbo.

Does this mean they have added lobbies? Plus the reply option isnt a new feature as you can reply fights on SF4, or do they mean you can reply all your fights?!?!?

Glad to see bonus stages are back. Endless battle sounds fun. Would be nice to see Street Fighter 3 Alpha Survival mode, but any added option is always welcome. Good to see more modes, along with the added characters.

Is there a reason they didn't just decide to release all of this as a DLC expansion, other than to rip off their fans?

So so so glad they have bought back the binus stages. Love smashing that car up ^_^

Can't wait for this game next year even if it is a bit of a cash in on capcom's part.

@18

Could be a few reasons - IF you're actually being legit. My first guess would be lack of a stable internet connection, which would make it look like your trying to connection exploit somehow.

If PS3 is your choice then good luck :)

Oh and sorry to double post but Capcom have already said that this couldn't be DLC for SF4 as there were too many fundamental changes to the game, which seems like a bit of an excuse but I guess they know what they are doing. It was written in one of the previous articles on this website though so go and have a look under the overview tab for this game

Ok thats their excuse to not make this DLC?? Anyone that buys this game is an idiot. They added nothing basically but 2 new characters and some generic game modes. Street Fighter Alpha 4 now that might be worth buying. BUT this game came out a year ago, don't fall for that shit.

Not really that interested in Street Fighter at the moment as I'm having too much fun with Tekken but by the time this comes out I should have the time for it.

Man all I ever ask for in any fighting game is team battles. THIS IS ACTUALLY AMAZING.

Why is there always some cock whinging about DLC or the lack of or the price etc etc. It gets very boring. The Team Battles look awesome in this. Worth getting just for that!

Hm, looks like there's actually reason for me to get this now.

Better have good achievements. I think I won't even buy it if there are Trial mode Challenge achievements.

Here's hoping the Super pack is DLC for those of us who still own SFIV.

It honestly peaks my interest, it's just that SF games feel so unfriendly towards noobs as myself.

So why the fuck did I buy Street Fighter IV? I'm going to have to buy it again if I want these additions (that should have been in the game anyway).

Well fuck that. Now I feel like a chump for wasting as much money on a game that has now been updated a year on and will likely sell for the same price. The only way I would get this is if there were a significant deal in place to substitute my SFIV for this one, plus a reasonable fee of course. But that won't happen.

I wonder if they'll be able to do 2 vs. 1 like in Alpha for the PS1.

This could have been DLC. I hope they aren't charging full price. People are getting exited about bonus rounds making a comeback, I say where where they in the first place?? Did they really make it with no bonus round? No they give us a watered down version then add a few new things that should have been included in the first place. What about the costume packs? Do they expect us to buy them again? I bet they won't carry over! Don't let Capcom bend you over, buy it used or rent it even.

Downloadable content - achievements or no achievements - will you buy it with or without them?
If the content is good, or for a game I love, I'll buy it regardless of whether chievos are included
I'll still buy and play the downloadable content, but achievements would be nice.
Who the hell cares!?
No achievements, no sale ... and that goes for any game ... whether you're GTA or Halo!
Just stop with the DLC achievements full stop ... you're ruining my completion percentage dammit!
