The White Stripes Make Their Rock Band Debut Next Week

The White Stripes Make Their Rock Band Debut Next Week
Written Friday, November 06, 2009 by Dan Webb

A bit of a somewhat subdued Rock Band Music Store update next week with only a handful of songs hitting the service - maybe they're conscious of the Modern Warfare 2 release like everyone else in the industry. Either way, it's a nice collection of songs and it includes The White Stripes' debut on Rock Band  as well as a track from Kasabian and The Damned.

Prices and availability are as usual; out next Tuesday (November 10th) and 160 points a piece, or 440 for The White Stripes Pack 01. The upcoming tracks are as follows:

· The Damned – “Smash It Up (Part II)” +
· Kasabian – “Club Foot” +
· The White Stripes – “Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground” +
· The White Stripes – “Girl, You Have No Faith in Medicine” +
· The White Stripes – “Icky Thump”

(All tracks are original master recordings)

Only 5 songs? Kind of lame when you consider that they normally release about 10 songs a week. Also none of these songs are worth buying imo. Pass.

That's cool to see Kasabian in there. Might have to pick it up...but been kind of bored with music games lately.

Not a bad collection of songs, all good White Stripes songs, Club Foot is all kinds of awesome. And I do like a bit of The Damned.

Good songs, this could only be better news if it was in suppository form.

I'm not a big fan of the White Stripes, but I may end up getting this pack if the songs/charts are good.

MW2 may not be the only reason for such a small release. Lego Rock Band came out this week, and that's 45 songs for the RB2 platform people are still probably going through. This seems to be more of a "break" week. I'm sure next week will have a bigger selection.

Icky Thump is good but Seven Nation Army should have been one of the second songs, then they could go to the less known ones for the third.

How do you guys not understand how awesome Icky Thump is going to be to play? It's such a great song.

@16 & @8 Seven Nation Army is their best song, but the problem is that for a long section there is no real guitar part, so it probably wouldn't make a good Rock Band song. Bass players could protest its exclusion though.

Points better spent on transfering the Lego songs, this week for me, though.

Wow. These songs are horrible. The White Stripes have to be one of the most yawn-inducing bands I've ever heard.

Gotta say, I'm disappointed with the selection of White Stripes songs; they have some pretty good albums out there, but of course they decide to pick tracks from the newest of the few -- which I did not care for one bit. =/

Wasn't Jack White the guy who said that people should stop playing Guitar Hero/Rock Band because it gets people nowhere?

Kinda odd for him to do this, no?

I think it is funny that Jack White thought that these music games were "depressing": http://www.switched.com/2009/06/24/white-stripes-frontman-jack-white-calls-guitar-hero-depressin/
I'm sure he doesn't find the money he's making from licensing his music to these games "depressing"..
.. you see its just like the recent courtney love fiasco: You sell out, then come out with a reason for the "hardcore" fans as to why it isn't your fault.
except i guess jack bashed it first then sold out.
hehe

@29: YES OH GAWD YES!! haha
seriously, none of these "new" dlc releases even comes CLOSE to bordering on "EPIC". I don't even mean music i like personally, just some actually epic music, not the "songs cannot last longer than 2:26 and must repeat the chorus for 2 minutes of that" radio edit crap they keep releasing.
From what i have seen, adults are WAY more likely to spend big $$$ on music downloads, so why not cater to them??

#23 your opinion is void, you have an anime gp.

These songs are great, but I doubt they'd make good music game tracks. Icky Thump would be awesome on guitar though.

#1, how can you not like Icky Thump as a White Stripes song? especially since its their style....

#5... well 5 songs is pretty typical THIS week for RB to release, seeing as though like half the population is out to get the most anticipated game of all time tuesday....

#8... umm how bout 3 at a time is good for now? Trust me if they release 3 at a time theyre bound to have more like Hardest Button to Button, Seven Nation, etc. soon enough

These are awesome songs, coming from a big White Stripes fan. I'm glad they didnt go with very obvious choices, like *ahem* blue orchid or seven nation army. Good choices for sure. Girl you have no faith in medicine is gonna rock.

i might get icky thump. was hoping seven nation army was on the list tho. would be a fun song for a bass player or drummer but not much fun on lead guitar tho. still an awesome song.

If the content is good, or for a game I love, I'll buy it regardless of whether chievos are included
I'll still buy and play the downloadable content, but achievements would be nice.
Who the hell cares!?
No achievements, no sale ... and that goes for any game ... whether you're GTA or Halo!
Just stop with the DLC achievements full stop ... you're ruining my completion percentage dammit!
