Ubisoft Set to Unveil New Prince of Persia in Spring 2010?

Ubisoft Set to Unveil New Prince of Persia in Spring 2010?
Written Monday, November 02, 2009 by Dan Webb

Undoubtedly one of Ubisoft's biggest franchises, Prince of Persia, is - according to one internet report today - set to get its latest installment unveiled next spring.

Neoseeker, who were shown a short preview of the upcoming Prince of Persia: Sands of Time film recently, were told by the movie production team that the announcement of the follow-up to the 2008 title will come next spring.

The site reports, "Ubisoft will be announcing a new Prince of Persia game in the spring, according to the team, but it's not their place to give out any details."

It's not their place to give out any details, but it is theirs to spoil what no doubt would have been a suprise announcement. I get that logic... I think. Oh well, more Prince of Persia sounds good to me. That is if the report is right on the money though,  and considering the engine is complete and it will have been 18 months since the last title, it sounds about right to us.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Ben Kingsley is set to hit theatres next year on May 28th.

Good news, I really enjoyed the previous title. Hopefully it will be more challenging this time round.

I hope this one returns more to the series' roots. The new one was good, but far too easy, crappy combat and, just, not as good basicially...

Jake Gyllenhaal? So it's going to involve lots of whining?

I always get bored of the games after a while.
And the combat system in the last game was just too slow and boring per fight and collecting all that crap.
But hopefully it will be good, and as for the movie? I have no idea aint seen no trailers so I dunno.
Ubisoft could work on a new Rayman instead..

hopefully more similar to the sands of time trilogy, and I really can't stand the new prince

I'd be excited and all if...
1. Jake Gyllenhaal looked *anything* like the Prince I grew up with, and wasn't just cast cuz he was "close enough" and eye candy for women.
2. The latest Prince of Persia didn't suck ass in compare to Sands of Time, one of my favorite games of all time.

The last one just wasn't as complex and difficult as those before it. I loved the look of the world and all, but when combat is "Block, Block, counter, tag team, repeat" and the risk in platforming is removed by a limitless number of respawns, I just couldn't get hooked like I did when I played the old ones on my PS2. If they give me back Prince's edge and all the fun situational, combo and counter attacks, I'll happily jump back on the series.

The Sands of Time was one of my favorite games on the Xbox... they all seemed to decline after that one, finally coming to only fighting one enemy at a time... I enjoyed the new one, but they could have made it better since they developed it forever...

And at #11, I agree, a new Rayman would be fun, especially one that has a full 1000 attainable

haven't seen any trailers for the movie, but after seeing what they did with that assassins creed short i wouldn't be surprised if it was amazing.

I'll be very touch and go with this title, the franchise reboot of the previous PoP game left me mildly disappointed. The SOT trilogy was brilliant and I just wish they would combine elements from all three of those games into one game. SOT take the puzzles and acrobatic controls, WW within take the combat and then from TT...well um, the boss fights maybe? Anyways, the combat and acrobatics in the new PoP game need to be reverted back to old form because this new PoP felt childish and insultingly easy (not a bad thing)

Prince of Persia was awesome and all. But I'm more interested in finding out what the hell is going on with Beyond Good & Evil 2.

And seriously. Jake Gyllenhall as the Prince of Persia just has fail written all over it. As much as I loved the Sands of Time trilogy, there is absolutely nothing at all about the film I find appealing.

I just went back and played the The Two Thrones the other day.. it was a really great game that I missed out on when it came out. Having played the new one and loved it. I can't wait for a new one. I agree combat could be better but hopefully they keep the graphics and some other game mechanics.. refining instead of changing the game

the trilogy so was good, the new game wasn't that great so I hope they do better with the sequel. We need the developers concentrating on game play over this artsy crap.

oh and the Sands of Time movies is going to be no where close to as good as the games story was, one of the top ten games of all time right there.

I really hope its better than the last installment, with its incredibly short and easy story and really really boring sword combat, especially when compared to the previous trilogy.

Downloadable content - achievements or no achievements - will you buy it with or without them?
If the content is good, or for a game I love, I'll buy it regardless of whether chievos are included
I'll still buy and play the downloadable content, but achievements would be nice.
Who the hell cares!?
No achievements, no sale ... and that goes for any game ... whether you're GTA or Halo!
Just stop with the DLC achievements full stop ... you're ruining my completion percentage dammit!
