Tecmo Announces Fret Nice for Xbox Live Arcade
Written Thursday, October 29, 2009 By Jason Debelyak

Ever want to play a game with one of your guitar controllers that didn't involve playing some of your favorite songs?  Well, your dreams are about to come true!  Tecmo and Pieces Interactive today announced that they are making a game entitled Fret Nice that will release next year on the Xbox Live Arcade.  So, what makes this game unique?  Simply put, it is a platformer that will use a guitar controller as your primary controller.  How this will work our, who knows, but the idea in itself is interesting to say the least.

“We felt sorry for gamers who bought a guitar only to be used for pure music games, so we made a platform game for them! Fret Nice is the perfect blend of two worlds", said Pieces Interactive CEO Johan Hellberg.

What are your thoughts on this unique idea of using your guitar controller?

Yeah, I feel the same way for guitarists who bought a real guitar to only be used for playing music.

>_>

Sounds like a stoopid idea to me. Most games are hard enough with the bloody controllers!

Sounds as weird as project natal controller hybrids... I wonder how that will work with music games like guitar hero.

This is kirby. beware. God I'm bored

My friend used his with an emulator to play Zelda 2. Worked pretty well. Tilt the guitar to use magic!

Gotta see some gamplay, and a person playing it. But Wicked, lets hope we can sing our ways through the levels.

Anything made for the guitar will just end up PLAYING like a stupid version of guitar hero, IT WILL JUST LOOK DIFFERENT. We've all seen the vids of people playing PS2 games with their guitars and dance mats but that's purely for nostalgia and DEFINATELY not worth paying for.

this game was released as freeware and they bought the license for it, so you can download it for your computer and try it out

Sounds stupid as a concept, but I love Tecmo so I have faith in them.

And watching that video. Well, I liked it. If you're gonna compare it to something though, it looks way more Loco Roco than Katamari surely!

If anything we should be getting away from these gimmicky controllers. Dj hero and the first few guitar heroes are about all that makes sense. We really don't need a new music game every 2months. It's getting annoying.

Reminds me of the time when the NES had a piano and a platform game where you had to play certain notes to jump etc

But I play Halo 3 with my Guitar Controller anyway. You can't move or aim but you can still shoot and throw grenades and melee and that is all I need.

"We felt sorry for gamers who bought a guitar only to be used for-pure-music games"

My guess it's a platformer that has something to do with keeping a beat. Maybe shoot in said beat, or walk. Something along those lines.

I like it. I took to adding the challenge of playing arcade games like Double Dragon and Gauntlet with my guitar controller, so the idea of a game based on that idea seems awesome.

"i believe u meant out not our. but as for the news ill try it. i got 3 damn guitars and no games for them lol"

If you can't spell out a three-letter word, don't capitalize, skip out on punctuation, and don't use apostrophes, you shouldn't be correcting others.

Anyway, I think this is a good idea. I'm not into rhythm games, so I will pass on this game, but it is a good idea. Now it's up to Tecmo to execute.

#25 now a piano WOULD be cool. Especially if it was one of those massive ones like in the film BIG so you could run along it etc. I think it would be bloody expensive though lol

I don't think that a guitar would be gameplay-wise better than a normal controller, it doesn't have any benefits that the world's best controller wouldn't.
